Did you export all your Evernote data with the new v10 app? Or you did it with the old Legacy app? I have more than 10 000 notes all in one note book because I used tagging to organize my stuff. I dont think I'll be able to export all the 10 000 notes withing one notebook at the same time.

I had several notebooks with several tags. I created 3 notebooks and mastered these. Then I exported the 3 notebooks via the enex format and followed the obsidian guide to import into a new vault called 'Evernote'. Worked really well including all PDF's and Screenshots. It was great to finally get everything off Evernote. No going back. Thank god. Pity, in it's day Evernote was groundbreaking, I was a staunch advocated. All bugs after V10 were crazy then the price hikes were obscene with no dev or features for years. Disgusting services. Better products out there. Take a look at Joplin as well. @@MatthieuDesroches

Former Evernote client. Now working with Bear. I appreciate the interview. The gentleman from Bending Spoons seemingly answered all off the questions head on. We all knew there would be changes not only to the app platform but throughout the organizational structure. They are a for-profit business, so I do not begrudge them for setting a adjusted price for their app and services. I wish Evernote and Bending Spoons well in the future and I will evaluate another change to Evernote in a year. Good luck!

The new AI search is a real game changer for me. It works a lot better than I expected and it really changes the way I look at or search my notes now. I was not happy about the price change, but this new AI search is helping to accept that price increase. I tried some other note taking apps, but the simplicity of Evernote, the webclipping, the new sync and the AI search, that is still a winning combination for me.

I've been an Evernote user (on and off) since 2009. Bear comes the closest to offering the same feature set for a fraction of the price. And their latest iteration, Bear 2, adds searchable PDFS and images to that list. Plus, importing ENEX files into Bear is a breeze. For these reasons among others, I plan to always keep an active Bear subscription. BUT...Evernote keeps me hooked in with collaboration, rich task management, and an unparalleled web clipping experience. So...yeah. I'll maintain the Personal subscription and will hang on to see what Bending Spoons does.

But they just 'aligned their pricing with the market'. I have no idea what market they think they're in. $169AUD for a year is so out of touch with what they're offering. And the price increase for new functionality over the years? They've lagged behind so much of what has happened in other apps.

This did nothing to excite me for the future of Evernote. I’ve learned to wrangle my mess in Notion and really made it work for me now. He said exactly what I already knew from their recent press release. Evernote ruined themselves by focusing too much on business/team features and let their individual users fall by the wayside. Then they crashed and burned cuz their business/team features were horrible. (This is my assumption) I respect that they wanna make the app stable, but you gotta excite us for the future. Evernote began by blowing everyone away by the beautiful and easy interface. They need to blow us away again. Not by becoming another Notion, but by doing something completely novel yet still simple and familiar. I remember you mentioned this about the future of note taking in one of your past videos. I believe they need to utilize AI in a way no one else is doing. They need to make note taking so incredibly enjoyable and useful. But based on this thirty minute video, I don’t think much will change. And I also unfortunately think they’ll go out of business again.

This guy is unbelievable. His excuse for raising prices was to charge for last seven years of features at Evernote. You have to be kidding me? Evernote took a good, working app, and replaced it with a buggy mess, with still more than half the original features missing, and they cut how many devices you can use in free mode and other limitations, to force you to pay for their waste of money and general hatred of loyal user base. Now we get this piece of work, raising prices again, with zero value offered in return, not even things that worked sever years ago, are working. Utter disaster. It was not so damn hard to migrate thousands of notes from evernote, I would have abandoned this titanic long ago. And judging by the complete clulessness of the new guy, once again, Evernote will go in wrong direction at higher price, until it finally completely sinks. People were ignored for years on forums and bugs were so bad you dared not installing the app, for fear of losing data or being unable to work. And its been like this for last at least five years. Basic functionality of the old app is still missing. And he want to raise prices by how much? Get lost, dude.

You fail to mention that BS has a reputation for snapping up popular products, jacking the price (or introducing recurring fees for previously pay-once products), and dumping them when no one is left paying. When the sale was announced, everyone who was familiar with BS realized that it's time to jump ship. I'm leaving when my annual sub expires. I've been a loyal customer since 2008, paying annually since 2011 (still using the 'legacy' app, BTW). What this interview clearly shows, is that BS is not just greedy, but also delusional about EVN. So glad I watched this before I renewed my subscription. Moving all operations to Europe sinks it for me. Once it becomes European Centric we're hosed in the US. The programmatic decisions were low hanging fruit, and not keeping up with the competition. You deal with backend issues while giving the clients the features they want. Evernote will be an efficient dinosaur. I won't be renewing.

Given that evernote is showing all the typical signs of a failing company/service, how can I easily migrate my notes from many years over to something like onenote for free?

That is not an interview. Sending questions and getting an answer via video back is not an interview nor a conversation. How difficult can it be to have a conversation about the state of Evernote? Tons of unhappy users and dozens of great alternatives. Maybe time to get a bit more active. Btw @Francesco, are these videos sponsored by Evernote? If not, they should be given that they are not much more than ads

You can't go back because EN cannot lower prices comparatively to what it was in 2015. It is too bloated. The error was trying to be everything to everyone when all what the core users wanted was a simple notetaking app at affordable price.

"we always listen" actually no you don't. There was a simple request in the EN forum update a thread about Evernote updates with a list of changes. Never been updated since Feb

I've been messing around with Notion. It seems much better for projects and half of the price. Evernote is a sinking ship and way too expensive now.

Notesnook is like $10 a year and blazing fast. More features are to be added still but I am considering switching to it in full in due time

Goodbye Evernote, the 100% price increase is too much. I won't miss you!
