The Frogeye's fan doesn't rattle any more & it gets put to bed for the winter. Bugeye Build Ep 143

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Prepping the Austin Healey Sprite for its over-winter storage. Fuel stabilizer in, battery tender hooked up and the new cover installed. It may make a couple of appearances on the street if the weather is nice enough and the roads are in decent shape.

Ian, I did a binge watch of every episode over the last few days. Very informative and enjoyable. Love the story telling and tips. I’m working on my fourth TR-6 with the “recommissioning” approach as my new mantra. Like you, I try to do most of the work myself. Love your car, looking forward to seeing the hardtop project. Thanks again. Todd

Bonjour Ian , I equipped my cars ( Tr3 - MGA - Spitfire MK2 ...) with a battery switch inside in front of the passenger seat . Regards Alain ( FRANCE -Bordeaux )

Bonjour Alain! I did consider doing that but the way i did it seemed a much easier solution.

That's how I keep my Midget battery alive, mounted the leads to the terminals and just tuck the charger under the hood. Works fine. Just make sure anything else that has the quick disconnect uses the same lead for positive as your battery tender does so you don't have a bunch of chargers with clips and permanent mounting leads that have a different polarity, like I do...

Thanks Ken. I only have the one thing that uses a battery tender so I should be good!

Nicely done Ian. I actually have that exact same cover, bought it last year during a sale. I haven't opened it yet since my Bugeye is still in pieces. Good to know it fits!

I'm a long ways off, Ian. Last winter I tore it completely down, removed everything. Now I'm waiting for the money tree to bloom so I can get the body media blasted and get a new floor pan and rocker panels welded in. 😀@@EconoboxGarage

Your Sprites cold start at +4 is easier than my BJ8 at +20 😅 I pull my battery out over the winter as I dont have power to leave a battery tender on. I have used fogging oil in my cylinders as an extra preventive measure. As always another great video. All the best in the New Year

Another good video, Ian. My Bugeye doesn't like cold starts, either. You're correct- It's obvious the plastic fan moves much more air. It comes in handy down here in New Jersey - crawling along in the Independance Day parade! One note: I don't like those screw type battery disconnects. You have to have something on while you are cranking the disconnect screw, otherwise they make and break as you try to find a dead spot. I had one with a green knob just like yours and it drove me crazy. I threw it out and got the blade type. It's foolproof.

Ian, super job in getting the bugeye ready for a winters sleep. I remember driving my bugeye during the winter. It handled very well.

Well done Ian. The car looks amazing. Now what are you going to do all winter with the car put away?

Thanks Gareth. The car may make it out of the garage once or twice over the winter if the weather and roads are in good shape. I plan to start work on restoring a factory hardtop over the coming weeks... that after I've cleaned up the garage a bit!
