The Foundations other big hit was " Build me up Buttercup " both of those songs are very upbeat yet have sad lyrics
THE CHILITES "HAVE YOU SEEN HER" & "OH GIRL"
You certainly received a reward for taking a chance on this song, Harri.
Wow, I had no idea they were Brits! Very cool. The song's a classic, and has been featured in countless movies, TV shows, and commercials.
Yes Harri this is Top of the Pops with British BBC DJ Pete Murray who alternated as one of the 4 big presenters in the 60s before Radio 1 DJs took over. And they HAD to bloody well plav as it WAS number 1 and was THE Top of the Pops
Oh I love this song
Oh my god, this is one of so many songs we used to dance to back in jr. high school! We grew up with such a wealth of great music!
I receommend you a song that is very similar to this: "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" by The Fortunes. Thanks.
Harri, please listen to The Fortunes - You've Got Your Troubles. (Preferably the studio version as it uses stereo incredibly well.) Another British invasion group, and there's a moment where a counter-melody is sung over the main vocal that gets me every time.
Harri this is the breakthrough black British group. Many people think it is Motown. Their other big hit was Build me up Buttercup. Together with The Equals they cut a pioneering swathe through the UK charts. Build me up Buttercup us even more iconic than this one

@@cliffordjones9226 thanks for the correction . I have been chatting to a few people on facebook who were looking for rhis song since forever .They are from the US as it was a hit there also .. they thought r it was a Motown records one. No folks this is the UK learning how to equal that sound
Harri, you’re finding all of these great songs that I heard on the radio when I was in my teens. It’s fun to see the people actually performing. Putting faces and bands with the songs is a real treat. Thanks! ✌️
" In the Bad, Bad Old Days " was this band's best song in my opinion. " Build me up Buttercup " has been played to death.
I remember this record so well. I was 11 years old then. How time flies! 💕💕💕
Memories! Wonderful choice Harri!! 💕
Great song I'd forgotten entirely 'til now!! Thanks Harri! 👍😘🎶
The great Stax house band, Booker T and the MGs (who provided the grooves for huge numbers of great R&B records) in the 60s, were also black and white.
Another Foundati9ns Top Tenner was " in the Bad, Bad old Days " ( before I met You ). They made a bit of an impact back in the day Harri

Thank you Stephen, you're a bloody legend. I was going to post the same comment. In my opinion it's their best song.
Oh, I love this song & "Build Me Up, Buttercup." I'm surprised The Foundations were British too. Never knew. I assumed it was Mowtown too. Buttercup was used at the end of the comedy movie, "Something about Mary" many years later.
This song, along with the Foundations' other big hit, Build Me Up, Buttercup, is one of those classic, danceable songs that were the staples of the local North London suburban discos I used to go to in my mid-teens, in the late-ish 60s. We girls used to put our handbags on the floor and dance around them in a circle... do girls still do that, I wonder? Are there still discos, even? God, I'm out of touch! :-D I never knew the band was British either.
I looove it!!!! I was in my early teens.❤️❤️❤️
TOMMY JAMES & THE SHONDELLS "CRIMSON AND CLOVER" & "CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION"
THE FIVE STAIRSTEPS "O-O-H CHILD"
Harri, what a choice for something you don't know, this was THE era for fantastic pop chart music. One you will not know but was a big hit at the end of the 60's is, O.C. Smith with " The Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp", this is a great story song of poverty and desperation. Take care kid and cheerio from Glasgow.
HEAD EAST "NEVER BEEN ANY REASON" & "SINCE YOU BEEN GONE"
My siblings and I grew up in the 50s and 60s and my brother had a “thing” for this group and this song. He also loved “Cowboys to Girls” by The Intruders.
If you would have asked me, I would have said this was from very early 70s, not 1967. Very good song, something you would always find yourself singing along with.
MARVIN GAYE & TAMMI TERRELL "AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH"
THE FIVE MAN ELECTRICAL BAND "SIGNS"
THE STAMPEEDERS "SWEET CITY WOMAN"
EDISON LIGHTHOUSE "LOVE GROWS" (WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES)
Motown had a white artist .... a Canadian, R Dean Taylor. He had a few hits in the Motown heyday, my favourite being 'Gotta See Jane'. As for UK multi-cultural bands The Equals had some hits in the 60s and featured Eddy Grant who later went on to have a good solo career. Their biggest hit would have been 'Baby Come Back'
The record is much better!!!
STEALERS WHEEL "STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU" & "STAR"
In the U.S. the song was on the UNI label (Universal). No connection to Motown.
EDDIE FLOYD "KNOCK ON WOOD"
HARRY NILSSON "COCONUT" (YOU PUT THE LIME IN THE COCONUT)

I wonder if Harri's done Without You yet? Lime in the Coconut is a really fun one!
So, I am guessing you have already heard the Allison Krause and Union Station version. She slays it. 💝 Here's the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHlmq5upecKuk6Q.html
THE FOUNDATIONS "BUILD ME UP BUTTERCUP"..CLASSIC.
ACE "HOW LONG" (HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON)
MUNGO JERRY "IN THE SUMMERTIME"

I believe Harri reacted to that, not that long ago. You should be able to find it I think, if you do a YT search.
