During the first shooting phase I was shouting "oath of moment!" At the screen ... them termagants defininitely would have been completely obliterated had you remembered the rerolls ... a great game though! Thank you!

Fun battle report. BTW - normal wounds don't roll over so a single wound doing 2 damage will only kill one Marine - even if he is already on a wound. Only Mortal wounds "spill" over. 🙂

Pretty cool report I think the Camera angles were awesome, one suggestion maybe a little background battle music to set the tone, also maybe putting all your best battle shots together as a montage at the end. Great battle report I watched to try and learn coming from Kill Team games trying to make the leap into big hammer! Thanks for the Vid!

Cheers - I have tried to add a bit of background music in the past, but personally I find it a little annoying and distracting even when it's really low, and several people felt the same at the time. But I appreciate the suggestion! Perhaps I can just introduce a bit here and there next time.

Really enjoyed watching that, nice to see beer and pretzels play rather than overproduced 'epic' battle reports; just a couple of guys having some fun. Obviously as a beginner game, lot's of little missed opportunities, mistakes etc. Expected and forgivable, except for one... …Oath of Moment; with it space marines can be devastating, without it, they're probably one of the worst armies in 10th. And you didn't use it! For anyone that doesn't know Oath of Moment; the space marine player should choose one enemy unit each command phase. They reroll ALL hit AND wound roles against that unit, for all shooting and fighting. Suddenly those terrible rolls get a lot better, it deletes units.

Yeah, I don't have the budget for smoke machines and fancy coloured lights! 🤣 Dylan did remember that he'd forgotten Oath of Moment a few times, I just didn't get those moments on camera ... you're right, it was forgotten somewhat, though in combat patrol it's nerfed a bit and only affects the hit roll, not the wound roll as well (for some reason).

I really like the paint scheme on the silo, which colors did you use? I have a whole box of unbuilt Mechanicus terrain so I’m looking for some inspiration

I'm sorry, I painted it years ago, I have no idea.

My favorite part of combat patrol is you can now get a decent game after starting a new army earlier. I don't like playing unpainted models but getting to 1k worth to get a "real game" takes a long time, especially if you paint to a good quality. This mode really helps with that.

I agree, it's great!

This was one of the better battle reports of 10th edition, despite the (few) mistakes. Much more amicable, and you got things like LoS right (I still can't believe how many people get that wrong). And you pretty much nailed it regarding the rules and the effort involved vs results (throwing lots of dice for so little effect). I stopped playing 40k after 6th ed. came out and this version won't get me back into the game. Highly enjoyable battlereport 'tho!

@@EsotericOrderGamers Are you familiar with how the rules work for Flames of War? You roll to hit depending on your enemy's stats, and immediately go to the "save" rolls of those hit. Unsaved hits sometimes also need a so called firepower test to actually kill the model but that will always be the maximum, three dice rolls.

I played FoW once briefly many years ago, but WWII tabletop isn't really my thing. System sounds like a normal modern tabletop system though - it really is only GW who hangs on to a 3 step combat resolution system for everything!

Great video I’m a little confused about objective control. I was of the belief that only battle line units can move off of an objective, and still maintain it. Can all units do this?

@@EsotericOrderGamers like all new things, we're just getting comfortable in this new version. I play the space Marines out of the tyranid box. They have no battle line units and only 12 models. Objective control is a sore point for me, lol.

Love this hope to see more combat patrol maybe with your warcry armys too

Well, that was a silly error on our part! I probably put it there as a centre-of-the-table marker at the start, then left it there by accident. Doh!
