Whoever buys this should continue the dream that brought the truck to be. Take it to every state and park and keep the story going. It wouldn't be fitting to let it sit and have the story end there, unfulfilled.

It seems to me that you should keep this one Johnathan for a reference for future restorations. Like you said everything including the proper placement of the stickers and the correct stickers are on this example. To many reasons to keep this one as a reference to get rid of it in my opinion.

amazing truck - in 2000 a similar thing happened to me, mine is a 1983 LX type got it with 25000km company km, the owner purchased it in 1983 drove it for a year and passed away, his children did not want it, so they sold it to me and i still have it , the condition is super pristine

Brings back memories. In late 1978 I worked at the GMC/Toyota Dealership in Lander, Wyoming as a salesman . I only remember selling one FJ40 and it went to a Doctor. Great looking truck and what a find.

I worked at Toyota as a technician from 1973 until 1980. I can tell you and most likely pop some bubbles that these were not the vehicle everyone assumed. They were from the beginning junk. We had many engine failures, transmission failures along with clutches, transfer case failures. These had a cult following then as well as now. Toyota tried to beat out the Jeep but in no way ever built them to match Jeep quality and longevity.

Thanks for the input. I like the dependability of Honda and Toyota. I plan on living in the mountains of NC or TN and need RELIABILITY AND RUGGEDNESS. No bells and whistles except for luggage racks, gas can, spare tire. What year would you recommend where the top quality came about for Toyota. Simple 4 speed manual. Something old school look but reliability. Thanks. Mike

I guess Jonathan isn't any kind of collector huh? I've seen firsthand someone has a passion for something, then made that passion their career, then the passion they had changed. I wonder if this happened or that vehicles just don't matter that much except to fix up and sell??? car to share Jonathan? why not keep it for reference at TLC???

Carcaine I meant cars that were significant to his business. not watches. He doesn't seem to place too much value on them other than selling... He DID say about one vehicle reviewed he WISHED he could AFFORD to buy it. I thought THAT was odd in that I'm sure he does ok.
