I am also the lucky owner of 1983 FJ40. Mine is also in red and white color with 2F meshed with H55F tranny, CDI distributor, high-speed self-starter, electric fuel pump, air conditioner, heater, power steering, AVM locking hubs, front disk brakes. There is nothing more precious and loveable in vehicles then a 40 series Land Cruiser. This is THE most iconic and beautiful off-road machine ever built.

I used to be in the ILA Clerks & Checkers union and I watched a longshoreman drive one of these (same color) from the ro/ro ship in low range first gear almost 1/4 of a mile. I was amazed that he didn't blow the motor.

Very nice. If I had a pile of cash this FJ would get to see Goose Lake outside of Red River, NM.

The H41 is a non-US 4 speed, with a 5:1 first gear. The transmission in that truck is an H42, the same as all 4 speeds in the U.S. An H55F which I know you are familiar with is essentially an H41 with an overdrive gear. I've had an H41 in my U.S.-spec FJ62 for two months and I love it... have to shift before the end of the intersection and am pushing 3200 rpm on the freeway, but who the hell cares!

Pristine fj John, great find! I'm sure you have given this some thought already but I'll throw it out there anyway. The hummer h1 civilian model - what if a client came to you and asked you to toy around with weight reduction along with the full line of icon touches that you do with your projects on his old H1 civilian wagon lets say. Do you think you'd be able to make an H1 with increased maneuverability, offroad prowess, on road liveability/performance and increase the overall greatness and quality like you did with the willys, fj, bronco, ram d200 etc? A finished product of that I feel would be similar to your fjs rugged simplistic yet liveable interior and road manners maybe? I guess it depends on the individual client and how you'd see it best. I don't know if the H1 carries the potential to be a well rounded offroad tool like the broncos/fjs but seeing what you've done so far I feel as though you'd almost certainly be able to make it happen. Also don't you think that would appeal to a lot more people and considering executing a project like that could mean your company could grow more? I am only saying this to hear your thoughts on my suggestion/idea as to whether you think it's possible, plausible or if it's a road you've already been down. I love what you do and youtube seems to be the only way I can follow what icon is up to and the only way to see your vehicles in action. This actually makes me think your not getting the amount of recognition you deserve. Just my opinion. I do live on the east coast so I'm sure it's different on the other end. But seeing how superior your products are I feel like I should be seeing you on talk shows and stuff. Would like to hear your thoughts Thanks for the videos.

What's that light green truck in the shop at the beginning? I'm guessing it's another Icon D200, but that particular one looks like its got a shorter bed than your other D200s.

I'll bet parts are heck to find. My friends uncle had a 68 with a 3 speed on the column and the 4wd lever was dash mounted.

Its actually not bad, you can shop around and generally get fairly reasonable deals. The bigger trick is getting an FJ40 thats not 100% clapped out. Bring that truck hes driving to the east coast of the USA , and see how many years it will last. The newer models had thinner lower quality body metal, and tended to rust pretty quickly.

It's wankers like these that have pushed the prices of these off road vehicles up so much that no one ever uses them for what nature intended, and the people that need a off road workhorse has to pay a minimum of 6k for a beater,
