The FINAL CrossCountry Class 43 HST Journey to Tamworth

This was a very short term plan video as I travel from Rugeley Town to Birmingham New Street to ride the final CrossCountry Class 43 HST which was working 1E73 1627 Plymouth to Leeds but only travelling from Birmingham New Street to Tamworth.
18th September the HSTs for CrossCountry are being withdrawn and nothing replacing them apart from the Vovagers and super voyagers which are only 4 and 5 coaches! As the HSTs were 7 coach formations

I can't quite believe that Cross Country aren't getting any new trains to replace the HSTs. That's bound to result in several undersized and overcrowded trains. XC should at least get their own variant of the Hitachi IET, preferably 9-car units.

It was announced today (19th September) when the CrossCountry got awarded a franchise extension that there shall be getting 7 Super Voyagers from Avanti West Coast to replace the HSTs. But honestly the HST should had been withdrawn after CrossCountry Trains got these Super Voyagers.

Sad to know these incredible trains have their last final public service on the main line yesterday. It is so sad, but there is hope because of owners of these trains will run them again as a heritage train on a heritage line. So it not really goodbye to these trains, but it is the final goodbye to them on the main line.

Glad you managed to catch the last XC HST! Possibly one of the last great British locomotives. Shame these are being withdrawn before replacement trains are in service - sums up the frankly bizarre way this country’s railway is run. Always loved the HST on the few occasions I went on them; they had some character but were quiet in the carriages with fewer vibrations as the engines of course are at either end instead of underneath you.

The 1st time I saw a CrossCountry Class 43 HST was in Tamworth back in 2010, back then was only taking photos, At first I had a plan to visit Wesbury yesterday to get some CrossCountry Trains diverting and hopefully catch the last train back to Birmingham but wasn't going to be cheap. Ended up decided ether stay at home or just pop to Tamworth to capture it but only yesterday lunchtime I decided I do this video.

I totally agree with that, should had a replacement sorted before getting rid of the HST, but they have announced today a day later after the final XC HST run that they are getting 7 Class 221 Super Voyagers as part of the extended franchise to replace the HST but they cannot have them until Avanti introduce their Hitachi Trains.

I travel on Cross Country trains about twice a year between Taunton and Darlington and back to go to Middlesbrough - two of the stops invariably include Birmingham New Street and sometimes stop at Tamworth, but not always- usually go via Wakefield and Leeds and vice versa - what will replace them? Will they be more comfortable? Will they alter the route somewhat? Will they call at more stations? Less stations? Slightly different stations? Detour via Wales and Manchester and Liverpool? Or head eastwards out of Birmingham and join the LNER line near Northampton or Nottingham? Or no change in the route, but get there quicker? Will they still provide food? Will they send round an at-seat trolley service, like before, selling crisps and snacks and beverages for a sky-high fee? Or will there be a buffet car halfway down the train or, heaven forbid, at the back end and those at the front will have to play Jeux Sans Frontières - one of those games where you have to carry as much water as you can from one end of the course to the other across dismantled fairground roundabouts and obstacles - only with cups of tea and coffee? Only time will tell!

I agree ☝️ that it’s sad 😔 to withdraw the HSTS - High Speed Trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 from XC - CrossCountry because what if there’s no other trains 🚆 to replace them. Could class 43s perhaps 🤔 survive until around perhaps 🤔 7 years time 🕰️ to the year 2030 is perhaps 🤔 Monday 16th September 2030 for a long term lease. Class 43s train 🚊 are aged 41 years old is the youngest age made in the year 1982. Class 43s HSTS are made in the years between 1976 and 1972 for 6 years. When class 43s were brand new, they were delivered to the southwest of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in the train 🚊 that ran between London Paddington, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and the southwest of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, the long distance CrossCountry train 🚊 service that ran between Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, northern England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 to the south, southwest of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, from London to the midlands and finally from London to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 via northeast of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. All class 43s have a toilet 🚻 🚽 and first class accommodation. Back then smoking 🚬 accommodation happened until Sunday 1st July 2007. At present 💝 in September 2023, there are class 43s are currently used for 2 train 🚊 companies are GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 in the southwest of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and SR - ScotRail in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 currently has a short form of 4 carriages and are standard class accommodation only. SR - ScotRail has 4 to 5 carriages and has first class accommodation available were previously allocated to GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 until the year 2019. I honestly like 👍 the class 43 trains 🚆 because they are warm, cosy and finally comfortable. The ride to journeys on all of the class 43s are smooth. They aren’t too bad. Trustworthy trains 🚊 in the world 🗺️ . I have travelled 🧳 on class 43 trains 🚆 in the past. Train 🚊 company are running down ⬇️ the class 43s in late ⏰ 2023 and are likely to be withdrawn from its provincial service by around perhaps 🤔 Sunday 8th December 2024 at the latest leaving the only train 🚊 company has class 43s are SR - ScotRail. Class 43s could survive with SR - ScotRail in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 until around perhaps 🤔 the year 2035 at the latest. 👍👍👍👍
