Walking Tamworth in Staffordshire

Фильм және анимация

Time to head up the A5 Watling Street and have a look at Tamworth
Sam one of our subscribers invited me up to have a walk around the town
that is steeped in history.
From Roman, to Saxon to Normans and Kings and Queens, Tamworth did not disappoint.
Thank you Sam for the invite, appreciate you taking the time to research and appearing on camera
for the first walk with with me.
It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you
Please subscribe to keep up to date with the next vlog coming soon
Stay safe and keep walking

That was a WW2 pillbox bunker built to protect lady bridge, There's another one on the far side of the bridge hidden behind the foliage. It was part of stop line 5 intended to slow down any inland attacks

Hi Gary. I was browsing KZread and it showed your video as a suggestion. Walking In Tamworth I thought, whats that all about. So Ive watched it. I have lived in Tamworth for almost 20 years (moved here in Jan 2003). Having seen your fantastic video Ive just learned more in 20mins about Tamworth than I have in the last 20 years Ive been here! I was aware of Sir Robert Peel but thats about it. So thank you to you & Sam so much for featuring my home town of Tamworth in one of your videos. It was such an education about its history. Well put together showing some wonderful shots and views of the town and rivers and brilliantly presented along with your local co presenter & guide Sam. I'll subscribe to your channel to see what else you've got going on and will click the thumbs up too. Cheers Gary. 👍.

Well done Gavin. And hello Sam. Both of you made a really excellent video. I had the completely wrong idea about what Tamworth is like. I imagined it like the east end of London. Boy was I wrong. Really excellent shots along the river. And although I’d heard of King Offa, I’d never heard of the lady Editha. Really good video, Gavin. They’re getting better with every one. I thought I spotted a reference to the Staffordshire hoard that was found nearby. Wow. Oh and what you asked about, what it was in the field. It looked like a WW2 gun emplacement. To protect from invading troops. But I’m not positive. I’ve seen something similar on the way to Yorkshire. Tamworth sounds like a Phoenix. It keeps rising again. Looking forward to the next video.

Thanks Edna. Love your comment. Yes well done, WW2 Pillbox FW3/24. Built between 1940-1941. can anyone tell me the command line? and how many were constructed? It was great learning some of the history of the area. Well noticed about the Staffordshire hoard :) I have been invited to some nearby historial locations since this video, really excitted on the future videos, stay tuned for vlogs over the rest of the year. Hope you enjoy them :)
