I know right? There was talk about women having to sign up for the draft when I was nearing 18 but thankfully it didn't become law for me. I think my sisters have also escaped (the younger one just turned 18). But I feel bad for my younger female cousins and other girls who might have to sign up in the future.

18 year old men have been legally required to sign up for the selective service since 1940. Men automatically become ineligible for the draft at 25. It is a crime not to (they obviously don't always prosecute). There are some exceptions for people. Many states automatically sign guys up when they renew their drivers license. This results in many guys not realizing that they signed up. I know I didn't realize I signed up for the draft when I turned 25. We also don't think about it because there hasn't been a draft in over 50 years. The only legal changes that might happen with the possible new law is that every 18 year old male would be automatically signed up without having to put forth any effort, and they may extend it to women. The idea that we may actually start drafting again is definitely possible, but that is a separate conversation.

I came to comment on this subject and you summarized it very well.

For that young woman in the messyge: A lot of young adults are skipping college because the debt isn't worth it. If your dad is paying, that's a great opportunity, but it not... Meh. I would also tell your dad, "I love you, but I need to live my life." and move out. If you do it calmly end prayerfully, I can't believe that he would scorn you when your wedding day finally happens. I bet you could move out and a few years from now when you get married he'll still be there for you.

In Utah the draft is an automatic thing once you apply for a drivers license; I was real surprised when I got a letter thanking me for signing up and I couldn’t tell when I had signed up (took almost a decade before I connected it)😅

Yes please continue sharing home updates. Its interesting hearing the challenges you've encountered and how you're addressing them. It gives me an idea what I can expect when my husband and I move.

For the messyge, I'd say first try to convince your dad to let you switch majors to something you like more, but also something that will give you a good paying job. then complete your degree, get a good job and move out. Or maybe look for a better job now where you can support yourself and move out sooner than later. You can try to work it out with your dad later, but you need to get out.

Every male has to sign up for selective service, aka the draft, when you turn 18 as a U.S. citizen. The difference here i guess is that they might start actually drafting people. But only within certain age ranges.

Great idea about listening to songs in other languages. I love those breakthrough moments, especially if the soundtrack also has an English version and you realize, "That translation doesn't quite capture the nuance of the original word choice."

You should watch the prequels again. All the good stuff would have gone over your head as a kid

@@justicelopez4076 I get along with my female friends and acquaintances generally. The only women I've ever had larger disagreements with are my relatives. But even then, being in a fight with each other is way different than starting a war on a multi country scale and harming strangers. Personally if I happened to be involved in something like that I would do my best to stop it, and I know a lot of women who would do the same. Women in general are more nurturing than violent by nature.

I'd agree that most of the Disney Star Wars shows are not great... With the exception of Andor. To Josh, if you haven't seen it, I'd definitely recommend watching!

15 minutes’ time difference on the Fellowship of the Ring extended edition is not enough to majorly impact the plot. So sorry to all my friends who constantly bash the theater releases and say they don’t know what’s going on when they watch them! 🙄 I watched the theater releases first and thought they were awesome. Here’s an idea: if women are required to signup for Selective Service, there must needs be an exception for pregnancy or having a child/baby under a certain age. If women really don’t want to be drafted, there’s an out! And thus people start having more kids again. 😆

I really do hate when kid movies have butts and farts throughout it. True. I did watch some of The Acolyte - I was like, "what's with all these witches," GRANTED if you want to tie the Bible and Endor from Star Wars together, there was the witch of Endor in the scriptures. haha. anyway.... I had issues with the Obi-wan show too. I really wish that they'd stop making so many Star Wars things. There are just tooooo many now. Can we go back in time and just keep the original trilogy. haha. Women should not be drafted but I am odd and don't want women in the military but I also am not very into the military in general and tell my sons to be conscientious objectors as Mennonites if they ever were put in a draft. Also I am a housewife and when I was a kid I wanted to be a housewife and was engaged at 17. . .and I was made fun of for it because my ideals are too old school, I suppose. Oh well. I don't think it is right to be forced to go to college when most people don't know what they want to do in college. I know like two people who used their degree for the thing they majored in., also I know DOZENS of moms who stay at home and have degrees, so it was a waste of their money to go to college.... I think this girl is doing fine.

Jordan is too old to be drafted. You have to be 18-25.

I believe you sign up for the draft between those ages, but can still be obligated to go all the way up to 35.

@@HannahAtrinity The impression I'm getting from what I see online is once you're 26 you cannot be drafted, but if you're drafted before that then they can keep you in service until 35. I'm probably wrong, every source I see is worded in a very unclear way.

I'm gonna need you guys to stop having anything but positive things to say about Lord of the Rings. Lol

For the algorithm

If you’re looking for good modern SW, I’d recommend the animation shows. Rebels is excellent, as is The Clone Wars. The Bad Batch just finished this year and it is one of my absolute favorites Then again, we may have separate taste in SW, haha. For instance, I love the prequels
