You can't be angry at selling bitcoin early. I had 3 coins I got for 100 per and sold them for 1000 per. No way I would have just held them until the huge spike, especially when you aren't rich and have big bills you can pay off with them.

24:00 isn’t it the opposite? A “richer person” and “less privileged person” are relatively equally likely (compared to the current financial system) to lose their cryptocurrency through security problems.

You will never lose your keys if you know how to store them. Obviously, not only on one piece of paper. Store it first in your memory. In case it is too hard, just choose 3 secret places you know you will find it and use a unique method of work scattering that only you will recognize even in the case someone will find the word seed. Just be smart about it. That is how you self-custody. Be your own bank and be smart about it. We learn now what to not do xD

I saved my crypto password on a painting I painted and no one can find it even if they steal the painting.

Played around with bitcoin mining in like 2009, but I think the site that hosted the wallet is gone. Wasn't worth a penny at the time, but bitcoin was something like $25. I think that means I'm out $10 now. I can only dream of the life I could be living.

Bitcoin the network/protocol/technology is not the same as a platform or business operating with it. The shitshow is happening on the latter, the network stands as secure as ever. How people interact with it by trusting on third parties to help them with it is where the problems are at. This is where regulation can fix a lot of the issues we currently see.

Within the first minute of this video there is an error. "Bitcoin is the first centralized crypto currency." Sheesh. Vice at least read wikipedia...

I'm really confused about what Vice/Motherboard is trying to accomplish with this series. I've watched all 4 episodes of Cryptoland and I don't understand who this is for. They've created an entire series dedicated to crypto because they know people are interested in this. Yet, they consistently choose to only show the negative aspects of it. It's like they're trying to lean into the clicks they can get from crypto while appeasing their audience who I'm assuming is mostly anti-crypto by just showing them more things to validate why they already hate crypto. But why? The production quality of this series is actually quite good and there's a lack of good crypto content relative to the demand. Instead of trying to play this one foot in, one foot out game. They should took a more balanced, fairer and positive view of crypto, I think that would be a better strategy.

I agree with most of what you say but at the same time I think they are approaching this from the perspective of someone curious whose first instinct might be of skepticism due to all the negative stuff that has happened with it (which is also very important).

The number of people that can not get a bank account is much higher then the miniscule number of people that willingly choose to completly opt-out of the traditional banking system

It< makes sense, BTC and crypto is off helping to regulate, rather that pretend it won't ever happen. The big institutions getting in is the catalyst that will launch us into the stratosphere. Most people don't like change but after the change is made they grow used to it and it becomes a non issue usually because their fears never materialize. And benefits they were unaware with before turn out to be far more beneficial. Few if any rug pulls. The projects that initiated the process of regulation have not been ruined, they got involved in setting guidelines and helping the regulators understand the crypto space.
