As an investment it makes sense. As a currency its idiotic. I don't know about you but I like to know how much my money is worth. I don't want to buy something for $100 just to have the currency jump in value the next day and realize that I just spent $1000 to buy that $100 product... luckily normal currency isn't so volatile, so I'll stick with that.

I'm in Kenya, East Africa, and Bitcoin and crypto are already pervasively used. Many people have already used it to escape poverty, I know people personally who have. However, personally I am a developer, so I am focused on the engineering aspect of crypto ecosystems, currently building on Algorand, built dapps on Ethereum as well, and interacted with others like NEAR, Solana and Celo. I see the potential of crypto beyond the trading aspect, they will change Africa specifically for the better.

It is intresting, given that most people beleive that Bitcoin will continue to increase in value atleast untill year 2140, it is somtimes used as a quasi savings account. And cash is used for fast face to face payments.

They are using the lightning network which is a payment protocol layered on the bitcoin blockchain . You can make fast micro payments with it .Fees are very low.

In the West, we can all pay bills online instantly and without Bitcoin. El Salvador is being experimented on and sure they have the right to but that doesn't change the view on Bitcoin.

Yeah it can cleary be useful in countries where paying your bills take 3H and the such. Kinda worried about them wanting to save all their money on it tho. Bitcoin, as a long term investment can work, but it is not the first thing you should go for to secure yourself financially. Their whole savings are tied to a wildly fluctuating asset.

I hope The Salvador succeed in this; it has the potential to change people life for good there. Something that the video doesn't say is that fiat money value fluctuates a lot in a lot of countries, take Argentina peso as example, check the price fluctuation along the last 10 years, inflation, etc. At least when bitcoin gores down you know it can go up soon.

Bitcoin value always increases because there's not a central bank like Venezuela's printing money for the government for socialist policies. Dollar also losses value every year due to the Federal Reserve printing or making money out of nowhere not following the supply and demand rules.

And why just... you know, state owned banks or retail banks with government support just open savings accounts for the millions of unbanked and give them debit cards? The laborer said that what he liked most about bitcoin was the fact he could save in it bc it wasn't cash and thus he tended to stow it away electronically. He could do the exact same but with a regular savings account or an e-wallet denominated in dollars, with the added bonus that he'd saving in a widely accepted, stable currency instead of the magic internet money that requires a SUV's worth of CO2 to process each payment

I think they is just a learning curve and also trust needs to be rebuilt but with bitcoin and the government unable to manipulate (hopefully the wallets they use are secure, also an education issue too) then trust is going to come around . one key of why they are adopting bitcoin is that 70% of their population do not have a bank account, therefore the guy said he used to spend 3 hours to travel out, pay the bill and travel back when now he can pay his bill with bitcoin on phone in one minute. a lot of the people in the world are excluded from financial services, and bitcoin fixes this.

$8 transaction fee unless it is wrapped in some low transaction fee network. When I heard strike I realize that they use that lightning network.

Im glad to inform you that my country doesnt completely works on bitcoin as you say. We use the US dollar and bitcoin is only used where tourist tend to go. = some places at the beach. Not all the country accepst bitcoin as a form of transaction.

Yes good question, they mentioned the name of the wallet was called bitcoin beach but the app was also called that. Maybe the app they created uses a username database to allocate the funds without actually moving bitcoin between wallets.

Yes but what most people dont know about El Salvador is that companies like paypal, venmo, Amazon and many other have not made an effort to make their services available there, so you are so limited compared to the rest of the world, bitcoin actually offers a way for everyone in El Salvador to have access to receiving money, spending money outside the USA and even invest, options which were not available at all before.

Then with Bitcoin as a back up the countries can rethink their own monetary policies with one another in mind.

Nice video, I just noticed this yes no one is debt free, there is always a disadvantage in every advantage, so just remain focused on your goal, I can boast of lots I have made from trading stocks and Forex markets, though the risk in it too, keep your goals and yes work towards it.

YES!! This is true, a great trader famous saying the risk got to be higher for you get maximum profits at the end, why 95% of Forex/stock Market beginners/ average trader fail in trading actually is fear of taking the risk, also ignorance, too confident on yourself when you know you actually lack the knowledge, which makes them trade and attain whatever, they don't have a margin of a particular profit, but a strategic experienced trader is always there, cause I have been working with one right from when I started as a newbie in trading and he never failed me, as he is registered also.

I work with Mr Silverster Wilfred, he has been the reason behind my huge gains and knowledge.

Bitcoin is designed to have disinflation for people to make money off of (as the value increases) but for a country's economy to function healthily its currency cannot be in disinflation as this decreases consumption and slows down the economy (as it was with japan) the ideal rate is 2% inflation per year or so (hyperinflation is also a problem).

The thing I didn't get is how the bitcoin came there like how it started the bitcoin economy, I can see the economic circle but not the start. Did someone drop an amount of bitcoin there as a kick start?
