@@madambutterfly1997I think most folks severely underestimate how much of a miracle it is that films are able to get made in the first place. There are so many moving parts that it’s shocking there are any good films at all haha. That being said, with the amount of money thrown at these movies there is no excuse for them to be anything less than serviceable. It’s just sad really.

I think that Dakota Johnson is almost absurdly pretty (she really looks EXACTLY like the daughter you’d hope her two beautiful parents would have: she resembles them to a ridiculous degree), and not as bad an actress as people say. If Hollywood realizes that a female character can have a hero’s (heroine’s) journey just like a male one, rather than being “practically perfect in every way” with only a few token setbacks, they might actually produce a good Strong Female Character movie, and Dakota Johnson would probably be as good as anyone in it.

@@iceheart1289 Marvels wasn't a letdown. People's expectations were misplaced. The only real disappointment has been Love and Thunder and Ant-Man. People, like you apparently, are expecting Infinity War with every outing now. That's simply not realistic. You, and others like you, need to go back and objectively look at how each movie in phases 1-3 were actually received. You're engaging in revisionist history. Yes, every project has been flawed with very few "great" projects. But that's literally always been the case. And yet, rarely being great they got people like you to think that they've somehow declined in quality since Endgame. They haven't. Your nostalgia is simply clouding your memory. The only hero without a "meh" movie was Steve Rogers Captain America. Half of the Thor movies were hated on release. And even the first was just ok at best. Loki was the only characters anyone actually enjoyed from that movie. He was supposed to stay dread but he was the only thing that would sell another Thor film. Iron Man 3 was not enjoyed. Hulk still doesn't have a MCU movie. Avengers 2 was panned widely when it came out . Avengers we only think was great because we'd literally never seen anything like that before. Just stop. The genre has always been this

God, this movie. I had a blast watching it but only because me and my friends were actively berating the thing while it was on screen. My favourite part is how she tells the girls, while teaching them CPR for some reason, "if you stop, they die." Meanwhile in the earlier scene where she's giving CPR she stops several times to look at her hands and have a freak out. She also just stops and walks away from the guy she was giving CPR to because he opens his eyes??? I guess he's cured now?? The irony is palpable. I don't know if the writers actually looked at the script after writing it.

What's worse is how left field this movie is. She was never alluded to in any of the previous Spider-Man films so now movie only Watchers have no fucking clue who she is. Has been done with any level of competence she would have been hinted at in the post-credits of Spider-Man Far From Home before being formally introduced in the post-credits Spider-Man No Way Home possibly alongside the Beyonder. And then both spiderverse movies we're outright missed opportunities. Especially in the second spider-verse movie she could have been one of the minority of characters encouraging Miles to go against the script and giving her abilities of Clairvoyance she already knows he does that.

They are spider women, so the gals somehow beat Peter Parker to the Spider Hero Universe. That puts Peter Parker fourth in his own universe before the explosion of other people, such as Miles Morales, as Spider-people. Now, I don't mind the expansion of the universe, but it seems as if the spread of spider powers has become something of an epidemic. I am surprised that everyone hasn't been infected with spider powers. Peter Parker really isn't that important, is he?

Imagine wanting to make Madame Web the star of her own movie. You know, the character who peaked in relevance when she said, "Peter, let me take you. To where the REAL Mary Jane is!" At the end of the 90s Spiderman cartoon. And nothing ever came of it because that was the last episode. Remember how Spider Totem and Peter being The Chosen One, the "Prime Spider" etc is universally regarded as either the worst part of the Spiderman mythos or a literary failure with a handful of interesting ideas. Remember how this is what makes Madame Web important. How tf did they think this would work.

I watched Morbius and was very disappointed in it. It was drawn out with a cliché villain a very bland plot and a not very impressive ending. Its ok at best. I never read the comics so not sure how close it is. I can imagine the comic book writers could have done a much better job on the film though. So i cant imagine the same guys that did Morbius could do any better with this one.

There was never any possibility that I would see this movie. Thank you for validating that decision, and enduring so that the innocent need not suffer. The bad guy's spider suit looked cool. Sounds like they had a workable premise: Cassie does not know who she is...she starts developing an ability she does not understand...she wants to help others, but is not sure how...she has to learn about herself and her powers, while also mentoring younger women...they all have to face a life threatening challenge from a superpowered being who went to the dark side...etc... This could have been a worthwhile movie. Such a waste.

The scene where Ezekiel is talking about dreaming about having a vision where he gets murdered by three Spider-Femmes was almost incomprehensibly clever. He gets his stuff ruined and sits down, and right before he dies he gazes up at them and goes, "They're moving in herds. They _do_ move in herds." It brings a tear to my eye just to recall it.

One of the things I didn’t understand about Madame Web was how Sony treated we the audience as being so stupid, example being the Anya Corazon character. I remember in the film Anya’s landlord knocks on her door, looking to talk to Anya’s dad about his late rent, well remember Anya is underage in the film. There was no indication she had a job, according to her she told the Spider girls, that her dad got deported 6 months ago and her mom died when she was five. It’s like another plot hole. Dad got deported six months ago. Who was paying the rent, electricity, water in that apartment, the past 6 months? Made absolutely no sense, that the only adult in the house gets deported 6 months ago, now the landlord looks for his rent 6 months later.

Was there even a script when they first started filming? Were Sony execs even watching the dailies? Was Pepsi money required for the extensive reshoots? What a trainwreck?! Just...multiple points of failure here! They should have just wrote it off like WB did to Batgirl.

If they had asked me to make this movie I would have cast Jamie Lee Curtis as old madam web. Then after auditioning this girl and realizing she has no acting ability picked another to play the young madam web. Instead of her rescuing three future female spiderwomen, have her rescue Peter parker as a child from someone trying to kill him in the past. Easy and simple.

the "random spliced together" problem you're referencing is attempting to make you feel like the main character. similar to how the movie momento plays backwards (at least for part of the run time), which puts you into the shoes of the main character who doesn't have short term memory. doesn't make the movie suddenly good, but at least explains what they were trying to do. some other youtube channel said it best when it said that this movie felt like the worlds longest teaser trailer for another movie.

'The script needed it to happen...' Hearing a lot of that in this movie. 'This propels Product Placement to a protagonist.' I choked on my coffee at this... One sad thing about movie is that it'll cause other female led movies to be held off or just plain cancelled. I'd heard Dakota Johnson fired her agent after this movie?

Said somewhere before, would have rather had an animated anthology of Madame Web and her investigating the changed fates of supposed Spider-Man/Woman. Sometimes for the worse & better There's a villain, but also in the background Madame Web unintentionally remembering her life as Cassandra, an identity she gave up because it would only "burden" her in her new role. (Not that knowledgeable on her character but she does have multiverse powers right? 90s Spider-Man)

Why didn't sony just play around the multiverse like into the spider verse. Having the rights to it can't they focus of spider gwen? or even a spiderman 2099 cyberpunk feel. Why focus on villains and barely known side characters? Or even visit old creations giving closing epilogues for Tobey and Andrew spidermen along with their "redeemed" villains. Heck you can even follow thru with a married family man spiderman.

The only thing Sony has going for it honestly is the Spider-Verse movies. Let's just hope the final movie of that trilogy isn't a shit show plagued by Madame Web's or Morbius's screw ups and even Venom 2. Marvel did a bit better of a job for Spider-Man than what Sony is doing with it right now, and again I am hoping and praying that Beyond the Spider-Verse will end fantastically.

I know shoes are a big thing for the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe he goes in morbius well morbius couldn't tie his shoes and in this one they just said don't put shoes on the bad guy
