ALIEN (The Perfect Organism) EXPLORED

Ойын-сауық

Hey guys, what’s happening? Niyat here with film comics explained, and as requested, in the lead-up to Halloween, today we’re finally doing a deep dive of 1979’s Alien.
Directed by the venerable Ridley Scott, the film is a harrowing odyssey into the abyss of deep space, unfurling a tale steeped in suspense and primal horror.
The narrative unfolds aboard the USCSS Nostromo, a commercial space tug returning to Earth, whose seven-member crew is inadvertently thrust into a nightmarish crucible of extraterrestrial terror.
The saga begins when the crew, nestled in hyper-sleep, is prematurely awakened by the ship's computer, Mother, in response to a cryptic transmission emanating from a distant, uncharted planetoid. Obligated by corporate decree to investigate potential signs of intelligent life, the crew, albeit reluctantly, descends upon the barren, windswept landscape, unwittingly setting the stage for an encounter with an entity as hostile as it is unknown.
This alien life form, a predator of unparalleled cunning and lethality, soon infiltrates the Nostromo, precipitating a desperate struggle for survival. As the crew grapples with the alien menace lurking within the ship's shadowy confines, they are also ensnared by the machinations of their employer, Weyland-Yutani, a corporation with sinister, undisclosed intentions concerning the alien organism.
The resulting conflict weaves a tense, atmospheric web of psychological and body horror, exploring themes of isolation, corporate malfeasance, and the inexorable, haunting fear of the unknown.
In this video we’re going to explore the story, the xenomorph, the characters and the amazing production of the film that launched one of my favourite franchises of all time.

It won Best Visual Effects. It made $200 million dollars at the box office. It put Sigourney Weaver on the map. It spawned 3 sequels, 2 spinoff films, 2 crossover films, toys, comic books, video games, graphic novels. Its been regarded as one of the scariest motion pictures ever made.

The crews in both prequel films were deliberately handpicked to be incompetant unstable labrat lemmings by WY to gather data and xeno assets through cleanup crews salvaging 'accidents', rather than the Nostromo gang who were a random crew of relatively level-headed and able miners who just stumbled on xeno contact.

@royalecrafts6252 *spoilers* . . . The infected in Prometheus are deliberately kept unfrozen as overseen by David acting on Weyland's orders, then the first infected in Covenant is made so by a pathogen rather than facehugger, which the few remaining crew members who discover him barely have time to even realise before shoving him into the medical quarantine room. You don't just instantly freeze any patient showing any kind of symptom upon visiting an unknown alien planet, and the Covenant crew had absolutely no awareness of xenomorphs or how to deal with them. They don't know what the Prometheus crew learned. Then the pathogen breeds so quickly that within minutes of being put in the room and before being able to be assessed by the skeleton crew trying to contact the scouts, it's already prime to burst. The rest of the crew didn't even have time to get far from the ship, before scrambling back. Then the priest doesn't even make it back to any crew members before bursting.

I've said for many years that I only need to see the film up to the discovery of the space-jockey. Everything that follows is just the icing on the cake. I find the Nostromo, both exterior and interior design, endlessly fascinating. The customised look to the crews outfits that convey a sense of individualism. As someone who plays a certain online multiplayer game Alien is a constant source of inspiration. I didn't ask for an in-depth look into the movie, there are many available, but I'm not sorry I watched this particular one, it was excellent.

I love these sorts of analysis videos esp of my favorite movies. And being lucky enough to have seen in theater in 1979, thanks to my school friend "You gotta see this!" type of reaction to it. And I want to emphasize how vastly different Alien was from all the movies that came before it during the uninspired '70's. Recall maybe 90% of movies pre-1980 were long, slow, full of inexpensive-to-shoot dialogue, boring filler and "the plot" - and "Alien" was as different from those films as chalk and cheese. As a result, for the first viewing I was a bit uncomfortable with the much faster pace and complete absence of filler so at several points I was unable to fully process story events as they happened. Being used to the slow pace of story-telling of the times, a movie like "Alien", where every single scene is significant, and needs to be put in context almost right away, took a little getting used to, and it wasn't until the 3rd viewing that I really was able to take all of it in.

Alien (1979) is my favorite horror movie of all time and the original Xenomorph is my favorite design of the franchise. Ridley Scott did the impossible and he nailed it back in 1979.

This was the first horror film I ever saw. At around 8 or 9 years old. It simultaneously brought me into loving sci-fi, horror, film, and story telling. This may well be what put me on my path. Cannot express how much I love and owe this film. Thank you to everyone involved, you're all legends and should be held far and above the mediocrity of today.

I remember when I saw this I was about 7. At a birthday party, I went to use the bathroom right after the Alien popped out of the stomach. The light switch was outside. Needless to say, somebody turned off the light while I was in there and it scared the crap out of me! 😂

When I was a kid, the commercials/trailers for this movie when it was to be shown on HBO, scared the sh*t out of me! Since then, it’s been one of my favorite movies, and i always watch it before or on Halloween. There are so many documentaries on this as well. The video game, ‘Alien: Isolation’ is the only game that truly captured the horror and was the only game that came close to giving me a heart attack. Alien showed a very believable sci-fi universe, with ‘space truckers’ and dirty tech, which is a nice contrast to the clean sterility of Star Trek.

Seeing this movie for the first time (I saw it just before Aliens came out), is one of my favorite childhood memories. It was and still is amazing. I got to see the alternate cut on the big screen too! It went off the rails with resurrection to me. Prometheus is a cool movie and could have been a great standalone film to explain it all as a prequel...

I don't just know their names, I know the characters. I care about them. Which makes the tension palatable and their deaths all the more painful. That's some great writing and acting. This was my issue with the newer movies. I just didn't care what happened to most of them.
