I can shed some light on the Close Enough situation. The only reason to show was canceled and got removed was due to the merger Warner Bros had with Discovery. Apparently, the guy who was in charge at the time felt like that the show then exactly fit in with his "vision" as well as all the other shows that were removed. At least, that's what I've been hearing.

Close Enough seasons 1-2 were also removed from Netflix international in May 2023 which I don't think Warner had anything to do with the removal from that streaming service, at least not immediately. Especially since the Close Enough removal on Netflix in May 2023 happened many months after HBO Max's removal of the show in August 2022 and season 3 never came to Netflix. A year after August 2022, Close Enough was also removed from digital purchase in October 2023. Close Enough is still listed on Amazon Prime Video, but all of the episodes say they are unavailable there.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Final Space. It was a really great series that was created by a fellow KZreadr named Olan Rogers and TBS/Warner really screwed it over. The first two seasons had a lot of potential, but executive meddling caused the story to be undercut by forced humor. Finally, the crew were given full control over season 3 and it was fantastic. Just as the show felt like it got going, it suffered the same fate of Close Enough. You can’t watch or stream it anywhere legally.

I noticed WB tried to sabotage it as much as possible. It was already ready to air since around 2018, and was going to air at TBS. But it was delayed continuously until 2020 when it premiered on HBO Max. Then it was purged after three seasons as a tax writeoff, due to the WBD merger. Infinity Train, Summer Camp Island, and Final Space were similarly purged.

According to an article by Deadline the possible reason for Little Demon along with other shows on Hulu and Disney+ being...well swept off the face of the earth was Christine McCarthy who is was an CFO (chief financial officer) for Disney stated "they were in the process of reviewing certain shows and criteria that align with the changes in their approach to content curation", which to me is the glorified way of saying "it doesn't fit with the Disney brand so it's got to go" which ironically was the same situation that poor Close Enough had as it too was cut due to the merger with Warner Bros and Discovery which was at the same time shows were being pulled from Disney and Hulu. Side note: Outside the pandering the other and more main reason why many disliked the clone high reboot was the fan favourite character and the reason why it was cancelled to begin with was the clone version of Gandhi not returning and was made as a one quick joke and swept under the rug, in the original run of the show protests and threats were made at MTV to cancel the series because his portrayal was extremely different to his real life counterpart with the clone high one being more crude, showing sighs of ADHD and being more slow to things, ultimately MTV for the fear of riots and their lives cancelled the series and left it on a cliff hanger till the reboot picked up and continued from there.

I agree on your opinion on Family Guy,I’ve became more divisive on this show and even I respect how the new FG crew in the recent post-Disney era seasons decided to tone down the mean-spiritedness and shock humor(mostly Peter and Brian’s malicious traits being toned down a bit,Quagmire being on good terms with Brian, and Meg’s constant abuse being no longer used) and tried to make Family Guy relevant again. At least Seth MacFarlene has moved on from FG into other things(except for still voicing the characters).

I love Human Resources, Little Demon and Close Enough... I was so disappointed to hear about the cancellation of them- especially the latter two. I think one of the issues at the moment is that there is just so much content out there, and these shows in particular aren't really made to appeal to the masses necessarily, and so they sadly get lost or forgotten- despite actually being really interesting and unique, or at least showing some good promise. I'm glad that at least a few do have a dedicated (if tiny) fan base, so there's hope they'll find an audience in the future who will appreciate them for what they are :) I think shows like Hoops and Chicago Party Aunt are perhaps better examples of 'hated' shows, though I get the shows I like from this list arent exactly beloved, and certainly from a business perspective did 'fail' in terms of longevity and viewership :/ *Also this video came out at a strangely serendipitous time, as I was discussing with someone just the other day about how much I missed 'Close Enough' and hoped there'd be another Season... I guess now I know why there hasn't been one! Thanks Strider :D

What about Praise Petey? I mean the show was cancelled after season 1 due to low ratings because of poor scheduling as it was aired on Fridays during the summer of 2023. Worst of all, the show ended on a cliff hanger. You can also add in Agent Elvis, Shenmue the anime (although you can blame that show’s cancellation on the 4th Shenmue game being in development hell), Housing Complex C, God if High School, High Guardian Spice and Fena Pirate Princess. And the CEO of Mappa said that Chainsaw Man was a failure due to poor dvd sales because 80 percent of Japan hated the anime. At least Chainsaw Man is a main stream anime/manga beloved by all and Mappa basically owns the IP. Cancelling the show as well as season 2 would piss off the entire Chainsaw Man Fandom.

Personally I think season 5 was actually really good, I'd rank it like maybe 2nd under season 2. Imo season 6 had some really high hits like "Bethic Twinstinct" and "Analyze Piss" and some really low misses like "Final DeSmithation" and "A Rick in King Mortur's Mort". "Close enough" - yet another example to the ever growing box of evidence of why piracy is not only good, but also necessary. Big Mouth - it got a ton of flak for the art style - it got itself in the middle of the 'western shows being hideous' argument and to this day is among the most consistently showed examples. And it is a valid argument - many western shows are visually vomit-inducing indeed, combine it with crude humour and you get yourself a stereotype mix that can easily outshine anything good about the show itself.

Close Enough was already in trouble even before the HBO Max drama. This show was supposed to be released somewhere in 2018 on TBS, but kept getting delayed. But after The Cops was plugged due to the CK allegations, Close Enough was never aired for it's animation block. It's quite shameful. The comments in No. 6 and mentions of some sort of digital devil possessing people through a cartoon sounds like the premise for some Shin Megami Tensei/Persona fanfiction. It's like a blend between mainline SMT and Persona 4. Then again, crazy fundamentalists would probably believe the SMT/Persona games are an interactive documentary on some sort of Satanic conspiracy.

For little demon, I think there’s an interesting outlook on the “medial causing demon possession” argument I’ve heard from a KZreadr that is a Christian, in that it actually makes people more susceptible to demons due to the fear in them that this breeds, although I can’t say since I’m not religious. For Close Enough, if what I’ve heard is true then it really sucks what happened to it, because that was what Regular Show was supposedly supposed to be before being picked up on Cartoon Network. As for Paradise PD, the creators supposedly have a habit of reusing jokes and characters in their shows, which is probably why it got so much hate.

Kind of need to call that bluff. If that was the case, the entire horror genre wouldn't exist. Most horror stories, and a good chunk of the old testament - as well as Christianity as a whole throughout history, based on how they used the fear generated from their preaching to control their people - would be seen as evil. It's more likely these 'intense' religious individuals are only targeting it because it paints demons in a more humorous and human light. It's why horror stories where the evil demons are defeated 'mysteriously' get a pass. Besides, I implore whoever uses that excuse to look at those cartoons and tell me honestly how it looks scary with 'that' style of animation.

I was devastated when I had found out it had gotten cancelled and was disheartened to find out that it’s impossible to watch it without having to watch it on a pirating website. A lot of the reason why Family Guy feels so different and "watered down" is because pretty much all the classic episodes you remember fondly were written and directed by or with Seth at the helm. Now and since 2010 ish Seth only does voice acting on the show. It also explains why there are no more musical numbers since it was Seth who, not only sings and was inspired by Frank Senatra and worked with the people who trained him to sing, but overall loves that kind of "baratone (I think it's called )" music

Its ironic how Warner Brothers is trying to kill its animation department despite the fact that animation was one of their biggest cash cows and a major part of their identity. Think about it! Some of the greatest animated shows of ALL TIME were created by Warner Brothers: Infinity Train, The Looney Toons, Batman the Animated Series, the rest of the DCAU, Over the Garden Wall, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Adventure Time, Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, the Hannah Barbara cartoons, Johnny Bravo, Flapjack, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, the Genndy Tartakovski Star Wars Clone Wars, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Duck Dodgers, Sheep in the Big City---the list goes on and on and ON! SO many classic cartoons! So many amazing cartoons! Cartoons that changed the course of history, defined a generation, that became instant classics, and solidified themselves in our childhoods! Why does WB suddenly want to get away from that? Is it because of Discovery? WB, you guys are the kings of animation! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!
