Honestly I do think it would have been a bit too scary for children if they included those scenes in the final cut. Electricity is one of those things that children are taught from a young age is super dangerous, so watching cute animal characters get shocked by a collar would probably have scared kids a lot. Especially since kids often can't seperate fiction from reality very well. I think the electric collar plot points would have been great for audiences 8 and older but too scary for the 3-7 demographic and I can understand why Disney would shelve the idea as they do try to make their movies something that parents can just show to kids without having to worry about their kids being too scared afterwards.

I’d like to add a mini honorable mention: Language Arts Through Imagination. Basically these were a set of educational tapes provided to schools from 1988 to 1989. These were roughly 14 minutes which featured Figment, the purple dragon from the Journey into Imagination (Now known as Journey into Imagination with Figment) ride at EPCOT in Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida, teaching kids that happened to magically teleport inside his house in Figonia about Language Arts and many basic reading and writing techniques you would probably learn in English class. Because these tapes were only meant to be distributed to schools, they could not be found anywhere else, thus enlisting them as lost media. However, all of the 11 tapes have been reuploaded onto the internet, and as of writing are still watchable, meaning they are no longer classified as lost media, and can be fully enjoyed by everyone with an internet connection.

@@robertbarrows6687 gotta love how history gets rewritten by anyone who witnessed it and has an agenda. This was also part of the whole “Walt Disney is an Anti-Semite” rhetoric that sprang from the Union Busting. Back then, the Red Scare was very much real before it had a name and part of that came from Unions. As relayed to the House of Un-American Activity Committee in 1947, Disney told them that he was more against the Communists that riled up the Strikes at his Studio than the Workers themselves. Seeing as Hollywood has been and especially still increasingly Red/Socialist, as a staunch Anti-Socialist/Communist, it was a no brainer for him to not just point them out (Hint: this is also where the “Anti-Semetic” claims were taken as gospel) but also double down on what he believed were good values in his studio’s works. I’m no fan of Disney or even of his legacy, but I will go to bat for the guy when I see things taken out of context merely to paint things worse than they actually were. Plus, while I do agree with the sentiment that he made Animation seem more geared towards the youth (to a degree)…you would have to not know of the fact that toy companies collaborating with animation studios to push toy lines & merchandise on Saturday Morning were the main reason as to why. Back in Disney’s heyday before TV was the big thing, everyone watched cartoons, weekly news, and such before a movie/film serial as part of the movie theater experience. Animation was considered an art form and accessible to all ages in those days and not just pigeonholed into “kid’s stuff” like it is today. But just like with video games…once advertisers, studios, and toy companies saw the potential in Pester Power (ads & programming on TV influencing the youth to ask their parents for what they saw on a commercial/show)…the whole industry shifted and sort of became exactly that. Disney was always considered a family oriented company and all ages entertainment, but at the same time was releasing animated & live action movies and shorts that stood the test of time. Side Note: It’s strange how much the general public (but mostly Terminally Online people) has essentially turned hostile towards family-friendly anything and began to feel the need to champion stuff that they’re never going to watch nor support outside of tweets/comment sections. The relevance of that is present whenever talking about “The Past” and how everything was bad or something rote like that.

31:33 I wouldn't be surprised if "the lost Mickey and Minnie porno" was just a Tijuana bible or crude sketches and the story got embellished over the years. It's hard to imagine the artists using the studio equipment to produce a short film like that behind Walt's back, but it is known that many a professional animator or comic artist sometimes worked blue anonymously. It's the type of story that encourages embellishment over time, and people's memories get fuzzy too.

I highly doubt the story as told was entirely true. There was probably something similar that did happen at one point but I highly doubt the people who created it purposefully showed it to Walt Disney... I would think it would be more likely to be something a couple of employees made as a joke that was making its rounds before possibly being shown to disney as a joke rather than an actual well intended "Birthday gift". I can't imagine anyone seriously thinking that would be well recieved by Walt...

The animator who made up the story also has made up other pretty ridiculous stories about Disney, and he's also the guy who started the protests against Disney for not crediting animators (which was totally justified) Also he's the only one who's spoken about this alleged short and no other animator has attested to its existence So I'm 99% sure he's just a very bitter ex animator trying to make Walt look bad, as long as he's the only person saying it exists, I'll continue to believe he just made it up to take the piss out of a old boss he hated

I don’t know if it’s a variant of this urban legend or a similar yet unrelated one, but I once heard a story claiming some studio had its animators make a pornographic short “as a reward for the animators’ hard work”. That doesn’t make sense because why would you “reward” workers by forcing them to do an additional project which they wouldn’t receive any compensation for? It would be one thing to say, “Since you’ve worked so hard, you have time off! Feel free to blow off some steam by drawing whatever you want, or else hit the golf course or whatever!” but expecting us to believe a professional business told workers, “Since you’ve worked so hard, we’re forcing you to make a porno!” is ridiculous.

I find it extremely fascinating that Jeffrey Katzenburg kind of used his influence to have the team working on Shrek turn it into an Anti-Disney movie…down to how Lord Farquuad was lightly modeled around Michael Eisner (then-CEO). Also, how Treasure Planet was promised to the Directors, which was their Dream Project, by Katzenburg…but continuously denied it to them until they finished other projects that he felt were more “appealing” (The Little Mermaid and Hercules). Even after they got the greenlight AND a monstrous budget for it…Katzenburg was already at Dreamworks and unable to go up to bat for them to make sure it succeeded like it should’ve. It would be much more fondly remembered today had they not released it at the worst possible time (iirc around the release date of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and actually promoted it to the moon…but by then, Michael Eisner had determined that 2D Animation wasn’t viable in the box office anymore and just let it twist in the wind.

In my opinion, the biggest disney lost media is in their disney channel original movies from 1985-1995. As more than half of their originals are only available through VHS format. Luckily, I managed to preserve some these movies through my VHS uploads channel. That way, this form of disney lost media will never be forgotten......unless disney decides to take them down, erasing a piece of history that should've been preserved.

There are a couple more obscure Disney topics that I wish were explored much more. One that i'm very interested in seeing is a deleted scene from Turning Red which would have involved Mei and her friends protesting about the use of plastics in their school. The scene, as of now, is not available on DVD or Disney Plus. There are only a few snippets of footage that currently exist of the scene: One shot from the trailer and a couple short clips featured in the behind-the-scenes documentary, Embrace The Panda. Some of the film's tie-in books even feature the scene. Another one, which falls within the realm of the Disney Channel "Pop up" thing, is the Toon Disney Search For The Most Animated Kid contest. While several promos for it survived, what's lost about it is the prizes for the winners, which was taking them to Hollywood to be featured in a Disney cartoon. We don't seem to know who the winners were and which cartoons they were featured in.

Tod Carter was given the mandate to create a story reel for the project in the same time frame as Aristocats 2. The script for Chicken Little 2 was good and Carter was given a lot of freedom to invent. In the story, Chicken Little is in the midst of a love triangle with Abby "Ugly Duckling" Mallard and Raffaela, the French sheep. Abby goes to great lengths to give herself a makeover my guess on why the sequel never came out is a mix of poor reviews and Disney focusing on other projects. the original was very successful in the box office [around 300 million dollars]. there are storyboards around on the disney fandom [ about this cancelled sequel ] .

I think that's a dark secret if Disney that's been hidden for too long. See Bobby was a star for Disney back in the early days. He was in Song of the South and is most known for Voicing Peter Pan in Diseny's Peter Pan. He was fired not long after Peter Pan because he was too old to play any part. Since he was a teenager. The story of Bobby Driscoll is a very tragic one and Disney still does this legally today. Like how they did the same to Britney Spears years after Bobby. It always a good day seeing my favorite 2 KZreadrs together! Your picks for this iceberg were all very interesting. While I did know some of these like the original villainous versions of Woody and Elsa, and the original pitch for The Empreor’s New Groove (glad to see you also enjoy that movie, btw), there were still a couple I hadn’t been aware of. In particular, The Pointer and the Lizzie Mcquire reboot are stuff I’d like to see in the public someday. I knew if the Kingdom Hearts animatic and agree that it would fun seeing another attempt at an animated series. And Uncle Walt is certainly interesting, it sounds like a bizarre creepypasta from the early days of lost episodes. Speaking of Oswald, in some original concepts for Epic Mickey, there were some suggestions that he was a bit more hostile to Mickey than he was the finished game, at one point merging himself with other Disney characters as some creepy creature to attack him. The developers probably realized that this wasn’t exactly the best way to reintroduce a forgotten character that people would be learning of for the first time, and made him more sympathetic. I actually made a comment on your Nintendo’s failures video with some questions I want to hear your input on, and eagerly await your response. In the meantime I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the Sonic Movies and the upcoming Mario movie. I wish you two a good day, and hope to hear from you soon . See you next time!

I would honestly love to see disney make something out of these scraped movie plot ideas. Maybe have a graphic novel series that explores these what if scenarios like the dystopian shock collar zootpia, villain elsa or kingdom of the sun etc. Like the disney version of Marvels What If…? Comics. I’d totally read that!

There's one really deep piece of lost media i'm surprised wasn't mentioned- the 1994 episode of the Disney live-action/puppet series Adventures in Wonderland "White Rabbits Can't Jump", that episode was never aired because it starred O.J. Simpson as the white rabbit and it's scheduled airing just happened to be a few weeks after he was accused of murder so the episode was ultimately removed from the schedule and never aired, a story-book version showing pictures from the episode was released but the episode has still not been found.

Glad to hear from blameitonjorge again. Also I love lost media and icebergs. To me though, kingdom of the sun feels more like the prince and the pauper kind of switch than parent trap. And I mean between the two characters. And yeah I'll keep adding on to this but, I remember seeing a puppet Winnie the Pooh that looked way better than the one on the list. I think it was called the book of Pooh or something like it.

This was a great video! I loved it a lot Strider... but, I have to be honest, you missed A LOT of Disney content, like two feature film versions of Hiawatha, cancelled Disney sequels, Gremlins, the older feature film drafts of Mickey and the Beanstalk and Bongo, among many more; ironically, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to THE AMOUNT of lost Disney content, but that's to be expected with a company as massive and as old as Disney. Not mad at you or anything; it's a great video, you did pretty good... but you probably have enough content for like ten ice bergs... at least! Also, I kind-of wish you went into more detail about some of these subjects, like Alice in Wonderland, but... to be frank, a lot of this stuff can be so detailed and complicated, they might as well be videos of their own
