Family Guy has has probably taken the worst decline I've ever seen in a show. The first 2 or 3 seasons are great. Peter really cares about his family and always wants what's best for them, even when his plans backfire and land him in a funny, but realistic and relatable situation. The jokes were actually funny, with a good combination of slapstick and spoken humor, and no shock or grossout humor. Instead of jokes about suicide, ugly shaven dogs, and... whatever those Brian/Stewie babies were supposed to be, you had very well written, clever jokes. While, for the most part, The Simpsons has stayed true to its roots, Family Guy has taken a complete 180 from an almost Flintstones-esque cartoon to a blood-and-guts-aplenty, hate-filled, anger-inducing pile of human waste. As you've said before, Seth MacFarlane and create art when he wants to, but there's nothing redeeming about Family Guy anymore. It almost seems like he's trying to get Family Guy canceled so he can work on other things, and Fox just won't do it. Strider, if you ever do a "Good shows that got bad" list (or maybe you did and I just missed it), I have a recommendation. Can you guess what it is? EDIT: That video already exists. And I've seen in. And Family Guy was in it. Oof.

Matt Reeves I'll explain what happened. Seth left to work on other stuff like American Dad. They killed off Brian to end it. They were forced to bring Brian back, and he just became unbelievably pathetic There was no effort put into the show after that point, and man did it show

The first 5 seasons were damn good. Seasons 6-11 still had some good episodes in it. But season 12, this is when the show became trash. Everything u stated is true about the 12+ era which is a shame because of how Family Guy was amazing in its prime. Now it's just being run down to the ground and won't be put to rest.

@@Duval-In-The-Wall American Dad itself has been getting better and funnier since season 2 in my opinion and is one Seth MacFarlane series I can still stand to watch. Family Guy is just insufferable now. Speaking of which, two writers from FG's first three seasons - Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman - moved onto AD before Family Guy returned for a fourth year. This explains why American Dad continued to go up in quality while FG just kept degenerating into unwatchable trash as time went on.

While I look back on The Simpsons a lot more happily, sadly I can't like it anymore given how embarrassing and unfunny the series has become so have moved onto Futurama. Family Guy I went off of for all of those reasons you just described, Matt Reeves. American Dad I still find more tolerable. Not as a replacement for FG, nothing is worth filling a void left by that absolute trainwreck. If anything, American Dad is more of a substitute for another series I was into at one time: King of the Hill.

I really like the home renovation episode. What I don’t like is the Tegridy Farms episodes because there’s too many episodes focusing on it and I think that story arc took too much away from the boys themselves. I do feel that South Park is getting duller, but I think it’s not nearly as bad as the Family Guy situation. I think Family Guy should’ve ended like 5 or 6 years ago.

Yep. Ever since I saw Bojack Horseman, Sarah Lynn has become one of the most iconic Kristen Schaal characters, next to a certain Triceratops toy, shooting star, and- uh- bunny rabbit? Sure. Why not. That hat may not define Louise like Peter Griffin says, but they're still part of her wardrobe!

Not gonna lie, #8 was pretty amazing. I think the real reason you think its horrible is because of how realistic it is, and thats okay. Sarah Linn is very similar to a lot of child actors and superstars in general. Her death destroyed me tbh.

I don’t like the “it’s too late for me” thing they do though. It sends a bad message about child stars and other celebrities being unhelpable and only deserving pity and scorn, and people already mock them enough.

I’m so glad Heidi broke up with Cartman, along with developing as a character

"BoJack" and "Worst episodes" do not go together well. Bojack used her to feel better, imposing himself as a father figure. they took advantage of each other and the show surely doesn't want to shy away from serious topic, such as Sarah story and Bojack depression. she was doomed to die young when she became famous in the first place. you can't criticize the episode for telling a grounded and believable story

This is one top I can't really agree with. That Bojack episode actually did what it was intended to do, even if it can be not very pleasant to watch. And in the case of South Park... I believe the whole 2 last (or not last, there is one more season after that story arc I believe) seasons are like this, and it isn't a problem with one particular episode. And how could you with the Cable. IT WAS THE EPISODE THAT GAVE US PLUMBUS. Also *A MAN... VERSUS... A CAR* .

I personally found that Rick and Morty episode pretty weak. Not bad, just bad in terms of Rick and Morty standards and that’s high well-written and imaginative standards

When I heard that an upcoming episode was going to involve Brian getting married, I knew it wasn't going to last long. Family Guy's attempt to shock the audience, while giving cynical and pessimistic messages about life in the most formulaic ways as possible is more predictable than modern Adam Sandler movies.

They've done this before with doing semi-story arc stuff but they never have lasting impact because of the fact that this show doesn't have a plot at all! The first attempt was with Quagmire's sis Brenda and that was a 3 episode affair that wasn't back to back (it was strecthed out across several seasons!) and it was so bad the episodes were pulled for a while. Next time was Brian moving out after his Twitter snafu and it didn't last long either as he returned home after 3-4 episodes. This one with the wife was just a waste of time and effort and that's when I decided that this show is kinda dead to me.

There are 3 rules of Modern Family Guy 1- Brian is never allowed to have a relationship last bc he is a douche and will mess it up 2- Peter can do literally whatever he wants no matter how dark and mean-spirited 3- Most characters are absolutely sick and tired of their lives at this point

Can we please get an episode where we learn Brian has been replaced by an evil doppelganger since season 6.

Emerald.Black I was just thinking that! They could do a two-parter like “Who Shot Mr. Burns” where Brian takes over Quahog and does awful things, causing the whole town to hate him and in the final act of part one, he gets murdered by an unseen assailant and we spend the whole summer trying to figure out who did it. Then in part two, it’s revealed that Brian had been replaced by an evil doppelgänger offscreen in season seven who has slowly been destroying all of Quahog with his liberalism and his plan finally came to fruition in part one. However, the real Brian finally found a way out and killed the fake Brian. Then we get the old, lovable Brian back and now that there’s no more liberal propaganda, Quahog and the show returns to normal

My opinion on Brian has nothing to do with his politics. It has more to do with the fact he has, among other things, tried to seduce Lois, touched her breasts while she was sleeping, tricked Quagmire into buying a rundown condo, gave his best friend Herpes, and took advantage of a blind woman. He's supposed to be the voice of reason, and I guess now he's just a lazy means forcing dark comedy.

Personally I stopped watching South Park when the whole thing with Heidi started It was so mean spirited and watching her slowly go downhill farther and farther both mentally and physically wasn't funny, it was just heartbreaking I tried to keep watching to see if she ever got better, but I can't take it anymore, and a lot of my friends who also watched the series bailed on it as well

I stopped watching when they did the whole continuous storytelling that South Park did at the time. While South Park wasn't great during the first attempts, it still made us connect with characters. With Family Guy, it rushed all of these storylines and made them feel more heartless. Do you want to see an episode that could've had some impact if executed properly, it would've been the one with Quagmire's father becoming a woman and just having Quagmire and Brian have another fist fight.

I feel like SNL is one of the only times jokes about Trump were funny, the rest are just crass attempts at shitting on him and even though I dislike him too, they just make me roll my eyes (like this Family Guy episode for instance). I know people hate SNL for that very reason and I thought I would too, but I have to admit I found these WAY more funny than I anticipated. They aren't bad at taking pot shots at both sides and usually don't go too far. Just my opinion at least....

Feels more childish then adult if you ask me.... BTW, I actually like Brickleberry as a guilty pleasure.

More or less they decide to break all of Eric's electronics, cutting him off from social media and being online (he doesn't use the school computers really for some reason) and in this time he starts talking to a female student named Hydie (probably spelling her name wrong) and they really hit it off and bond over the fact that they have a face to face relationship and don't get caught up with things online (I think she just doesn't like social media and such thus never really used it) and yeah throughout what we see while originally they do make a cute and nice couple Eric slowly but surely turns sour and fucks it up. It is a good watch honestly, I liked the idea of him getting a gf it's a shame it went south though.

Then the intent was good but the execution bad because they're not actually similar at all. The difference in mentality is like night and day. Every day life might be similar (but then it would also be with plenty of other countries in Europe which muddle the point), but when you touches at nationalist instincts, you're not really addressing every day life but the deeper political instincts and in that regard Canada and the US have little in common.

Speaking as a Canadian citizen of American heritage, with family in both countries and regular travel between the two, I disagree with you: they are very similar. Not completely the same, but when compared to other countries and their neighbors on average, they are extremely similar. I'm actually grateful, as otherwise our main influence would be Europe, and they are not headed in a good direction right now.

Yeah, it was a bad one for Family Guy. Just keep in mind it does not represent the actual show, though. At least not until the last few seasons, though they actually did turn it around in the final season.

Awesome countdown Strider! I do want to let you know I’m you got me into South Park and Moral Oral. Sparking if the later, have you thought about doing a video over i? (Please don’t feel obligated to do it, it IS a pretty brutally honest show)

I wish that the KOTH episode ended with Hank and the Canadian neighbor, in jail right after being apprehended by the police, talking about each other's lives, and finding out that they aren't so different after all, with the last shot being Hank and his neighbor similing at each other as the camera pans out of the prison. I got a little inspiration from the episode "Sons of the Fathers" from Static Shock.

If Family Guy was going to jab at Trump, couldn't they have done it in a way that wasn't pathetic and stereotypical? Oh wait a minute, that's not possible. Being pathetic and stereotypical is Family Guy's thing.

i feel the same way about hating cartoons that are tedious marathons of characters not standing up for themselves. That is why I absolutely hate the entirety of King of the Hill...almost every episode just is simply painful.

I just realized that Sarah Lynn form prickly muffin is voice acted by the person who voice acted Mabel from Gravity Falls

@Aedion Ashryver That is a mistake on your part, because in season 6 and onward both Finn and Flame princess develop heavily as characters and come to terms with all their issues, and Finn's father's backstory is explained and his story in the present is concluded in "The Comet" one of the best cartoon episodes ever made, so you missed out bro.

It went downhill long before Seth stopped writing for it. I feel MacFarlane gets too much credit honestly. I’m not saying he didn’t do anything, but there were more people than Seth that made the first three seasons so great. People like Dan Povenmire, David Zuckerman, Michael Shipley, Jim Bernstein, Mike Barker, Matt Weitzman, Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan all helped to make the show as memorable and as great as it was. David Zuckerman to me, is the real genius of the show. He co created, developed and ran the original seasons as Seth was new to creating a show and he was brought into help him out. Seasons 7-9 (9 being the last season Seth was hands on with) are more in line with Seth’s original vision, and what it would’ve been like if he didn’t have restrictions tightening him in the earlier seasons. He’s gone on record saying he doesn’t even like Seasons 1-3.

If you want a good episode of a TV Show making fun of Canada, i would recommend Dan Vs. Season 1 Episode 6 Canada. As that is my favourite episode of the underrated Dan Vs.

I can agree with strider that Cartman is a sociopath but in some ways, he's a psychopath by: Feeding a kid his own parents, Pulling a gun out on his own mother, Shooting Token Black (which is my favorite character) Threatening to shoot Kyle for his Gold that he always keeps and thats it

Which is why he's a shit character as well since generally he's portrayed as the "cool" one and gets fully away with what he does the majority of the time. And before you bring up times where he didn't, look up "majority" first.

Terra1998 to be fair, when Jen Reviews tried to look up the pronunciation of that word for his review of that episode, he kept getting different pronunciations before finally settling on one that may or may not be correct, so I can’t blame Strider for getting it wrong here, since as far as I can tell, neither he nor Jem know much French

The early seasons were funny and had actual creativity put into the jokes not just stupid cutaways but still it was never as funny as the best seasons of South Park and the Simpsons.

Classic Family Guy was timeless with its animation (for TV standards), characters, acting, jokes and hos its stories were executed. But it is actually understandable why it's not everyone's cup of tea, instead of try to have an originap concept, it did steal from The Simpsons. Otherwise, well, maybe The Simpsons was just influential. Modern Family Guy, on the other hand, well, do I even need to explain why it has far more haters than defenders?!?!?!?!
