Still can’t believe that they made an exorcist film where evil wins. William Peter Blatty made it blatantly clear that in his novels that evil was prevalent, but good will work itself out in the end. End an Exorcist film on the demon successfully dragging a child’s soul to hell is the biggest fuck you to Blatty’s writings.

I think it’s that people in general have become so jaded and cynical and nihilistic that they think good prevailing is unrealistic.

Thats what always made me laugh whenever people say stuff like "I can't read/watch The Exorcist! Its satanic!" Like The Exorcist and Legion (the sequel that the Exorcist 3 film is based on) are very Pro-God. The entire point of his books is that no matter the evil that prevails from satan it is no match for Gods will. I hate that Blatty's work is so marred from the religious community, where if they actually put their bias aside and actually read it they would see its the polar opposite of what they think (and this is from me, a believer.)

I think people misunderstand it. There's actually a very pronounced Catholic agenda in the details. The Priest who died, performing the Exorcism. Wasn't ordained by the Vatican to perform the Exorcism. Broke his oath. My first impression, this being the leading reason for the failure of the exorcism (a girl died) and cause of his death.

I love Halloween 2018, I like to laugh at Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.. should have ended it early. At least with those movies DGG came off as a fan, he just became misguided in attempt to make more films. Here, it came off as if he had never even seen the Exorcist until offered the job and thought "Okay, how can I modernize this?".

You're doing yourself a disservice not watching Exorcist 3. It is so much better than the original.

I feel like a reboot by Robert Eggers would have potential especially if the producers didn't control too much...

When I went with my girlfriend there was only three other people in the theater and they left at the last 30 minutes after I started laughing my ass off at the Priest death scene cause I couldn't get the idea of a sprocket wrench breaking his neck. Gf was not pleased...

I dont remember much , but i remember it got really bad when ellen b. shows up, and being astonished that danny mcbride would to attached something so bland and hack. But then again i believe he was involved in alien Covent as well. I like all 3 of the first excorsist movies, yes even the second i dont think it bad at all. But this was bad
