@@vxnova1 I bought my beater 99 Camry daily for $700 crashed with mismatched tires in 18 or 19, hung some junkyard panels on it and a new set of the cheapest tires Walmart sells. I'd value the car at $1,200-$1,500. I listed it on marketplace for $7,500 as a joke in 21. I had a ton of people message me ready to buy it. Several people said I should've sold it but I couldn't replace it with something as durable and dependable for the same money at the time without buying something needing a major repair. By the time I bought, repaired something it would've been pointless once you figured my time and fuel and maintenance with my truck. My truck gets around 15mpg, holds 7 quarts of oil and a set of tires is $1,000. A wheel bearing for the truck was $175. One for the Camry was $25, it holds half the amount of oil, gets over twice the fuel mileage and a set of tires were just over $200 the first time. The second set six months ago was over $300 but still less than half the price as my truck and last 30k miles compared to 20k on the truck. ( Yes, I drive like an idiot if the numbers don't seem to add up.

Agree with you and good comment. This is a bunch of clickbait. Yes, cars go down in value. Shocker! Who would have been interesting was to actually determine the value of his car versus a comparable gas car of the same specs. I'm willing to bet the EV still lost a bit more, but I bet it's not nearly the difference you would expect. Also, you don't lose money until you sell. You also use the car for the time you've owned it. So what you spent is actually That loss and value divided by the time. Yes, electricity is not free, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than gas. We own two electrics and I like them a lot, they definitely cost me less to run, but it ain't free. That said, I think my next car is not going to be electric. But Craig, this video was silly. The government pushing EVs is despicable. Let the market sort this out I say. Speaking of iPhones, love the analogy. But why is it? Notice how people sometimes throw them away even though they work perfectly fine, just because the newer model has some new feature and its pushed at a huge discount. Same with EVs. I'm guessing the market is about to be saturated by used EVs, which means proliferation of parts leading to cheaper repairs.

EVs are like cell phones. The prices are going to continue to drop and the capabilities are going to dramatically improve. We are still in the flip phone phase. The next generation of EVs will add 200 miles in 10 minutes. Unlike a gas car, you can fill up at home. If you have a Tesla, you can charge up on the road. It will not make sense to own a hybrid because you are paying for two different drive types of drivetrains. It will be more expensive without any extra benefit. However, it will take at least two to three more years for this to be realized.

Value is relative. Someone who is out to “save” drives a sub $40k vehicle. You can by a lot of gas when you compare $100k vs $40k If you buy a Mach E and charge at home, like your phone you can expect to pay under $10 for 1000 miles. If you rely on 3rd party to charge your car you are hooped. If you want to drive across 3 states you’re hooped. If you drive an hour or less to work and back, you’re golden! If you can afford an Audi Etron or a Tesla Plaid you don’t care about anything other than to be “seen” you don’t care about range because you drive a GT3 as a daily. The future is what Craig? You claimed not electric.

If you ever do research on EVs (I mean real research, not just taking headlines at face value) you'll discover how far ahead this technology is from ICE tech. The only thing keeping ICEs going is outdated mentality. Interestingly enough, you still make more sense than 90% of naysayers out there. EVs don't save you money on gas. Even if you get free electricity, all those savings are passed down to your insurance company.

They are plummeting in popularity because proponents were so thrilled to have the clout in media to make claims of being the future that they ignored the lack of features or marketability. They kept touting government bans on competition as being evidence of their product being the clear winner.. but that isn't how the market works. You can't make a product successful and useful simply by wishing it and after enough people tried them, EVs issues (that would have been fixed without the mandates to oversell them) suddenly showed up and in a big way. And consumers feel cheated. A healthy technology would have sold itself without mandates or politics, making the case for what it has to offer and let the consumer decide.

We recently bought a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. In six weeks have been averaging about 75% on electric power. Installed a level 2 charger (for about $350 installing myself) and charging at home costs about $1.50. love the car. Almost all of our daily driving is on EV. Current tank since fill averaging 115 mpg. Would never consider an EV

I'm not stuck driving the Bolt, it's quite fun, and the Trans am gets a go once in a while. So, I pull up in my Orange Dodge Challenger and the salesman says to me, "I didn't expect someone interested in a little Bolt to pull up in that!" I'm like yeah, they all can't be bad ass! Your making this video like the crash is specific to electric vehicles. Ice cars are dropping in price as well. Also it has more to do with the infrastructure issues fighting against Tesla. Not a single Tesla owner complains about these issues. Except the price issues. What exactly do you think people were doing when then introduced the gas engine. Were like 10 yrs in. Anything being early adopted will have hiccups.

Wildly uninformed take, the video emphasizes the EV market because they HAVE by and large endured the STEEPEST price drops. You are arrogant beyond belief if you find yourself qualified to speak on behalf of all Tesla owners, the issues in Tesla’s present themselves in a myriad of ways ranging from service to charging and everything in between including quality control. There are “hiccups” and there are blatant oversights in the automotive industry like an inability to service your own vehicle. Out of curiosity, what infrastructure issues are you referencing in your rebuttal?

@@Arcey333 not uninformed I've owned 3 Teslas, several plug in hybrids. There are issues with ev adoption, and the infrastructure beyond Tesla isn't where it needs to be also battery technology isn't quite where this type of consumer needs it to be. Waiting 30mins ish to charge will always be a sticking point for many. The service issues and build quality with Tesla is a problem but again 10 or so yr old car maker it's not gonna be great. Not an excuse but the truth. The more to think about with an electric car right now it's not just hope in and go like most people need it to be. Electric cars at the current state of affairs aren't for everyone , unfortunately they are being pushed out and most people buy and are incredibly under informed on what they just purchased. Even Tesla owners for example I've seen at super chargers using old lesser powered stalls when new faster ones were wide open the entire time. Or parked next two each splitting power and slowing the charge for themselves. All because they honestly didn't know. The cars were over priced to begin with and the back tracking on the electric agenda will further that depreciation. I do believe electric will prevail we just need a development in battery tech to make them lighter, hold more power, and charge quicker but that day will come. I have to imagine like I said before when gas cars were introduced there were similar issues with lack of stations and price back then as well.

I had a model 3 and it was the biggest POS I've ever owned. The back door panels would pop off going over a bump, the trunk alignment was off since delivery, paint was garbage and looked like it had 100k on it when it only had 8k on it. Don't even get me started about the many times I had to wait in line to charge my car and then wait again to actually charge it.. No one has time for that unless you're rich and don't value time. I got rid of it and went back to BMW and couldn't be happier..

This is similar to my thoughts. I had a Mazda cx-50 turbo premium plus but after buying it, we bought a house further away and I was at the pump twice a week and needed something more fuel efficient. I was debating a Tesla but the premium vs a hybrid wasn’t enough to justify, plus the insane insurance costs of a model 3 in Florida. I went with a Camry, but I was debating between a hybrid Camry or regular Camry. The hybrid Camry was roughly $3,000-5,000 more when I bought last year, but only got about 10mpg more on paper on the highway. I couldn’t justify the upfront premium to save $3-5 a day in gas. Mind you on weekends I drive a truck. Plus my Camry is one of the cars that holds decent value Hybrids or fuel efficient 4 cylinders are the way to go

Until they are on NACS, the only EV that makes sense is a Tesla. I drove my Tesla from Long Island to Ann Arbor, MI and also to the Toronto Canada area. I would not even attempt this unless I had access to the Tesla chargers and also an integrated navigation system like the Tesla with excellent route guidance. I would have just taken one of our other two gas cars. These very expensive luxury EVs with terrible integrated charging route planning and without access to the Tesla charging network makes 0.0 sense to me. Even Tesla S and X makes limited sense to me. Model 3 and Y all day. Possibly Cybertruck as well. BTW, when I charge at home, my Model Y uses about $50 of electricity for every ~1,100 miles.
