@@jwuhome It's completely unfair to say it was only because of his camera. I don't recall them being shown on camera. The warranty is offered by Kia, not the dealer, and the dealer gets reimbursed for the parts and service of all warranty work. The dealer is responsible for making sure the terms of warranty are enforced, such as proper maintenance being done. I don't think that auto manufacturers should have to pay for warranty service on cars owned by people who don't maintain them (usually just oil changes), because that drives up the cost of providing warranty service for everyone who does do proper maintenance, and those costs eventually get passed on to consumers.

I bought a used 2011 Sonata from a Hyundai dealer with 144,000 miles for my daughter. About 3 months later rod bearings went. Even though it was way out out of warranty and sold as-is, they replaced the entire engine, and gave us a rental free. Took about 2.5 months as they had to wait for crate engine to get shipped over. I paid $0. Was extremely happy with how they took care of us.

@@SC68170believe what you will. Hyundai extended the engine warranty to 120k because of the Theta engine recall settlement. But ours was at past that warranty. I was sick to my stomach when I first figured out the engine was shot. Sounded like a garbage disposal. My daughter still teases me a little about my mental breakdown. The dealership submitted it to Hyundai anyway to see if they would approve it and they did. I had pretty much expected them to tell me to go pound sand and told my daughter we were likely going to need to start looking at getting a different car. I was extremely surprised and elated they approved it. We got extremely lucky, I do think the fact that we had purchased it from a Hyundai Dealership helped. From personal experiences, they could warranty their cars for life as long as they make you jump through so many hoops that one will get discouraged. I had one that had airbag light. The dealer said it had coffee spilled on it which is located under the center console. Sounded legit. However, I proved that they never took the console apart. They just went with a common cause and tried to charge me $500.00. Another dealer fixed it for free. You took a gamble and won. I wouldn't bet on that again.

It didnt need a new engine, it needed a new turbo. It needed a new turbo because some one over filled the crank case by at least two quarts. It also needed a new fuel injector, which can happen to any brand of car, as there are only a handful of OEM injector manufacturers. And Kia paid to fix it all. Good luck getting ford, gm, or fiat chrysler to pay for something caused by lack of or improper maintence. We buy repair and sell an average of 50 vehicles a month, and have great luck with Hyundai's and Kia's. Better than a lot of other brands we also sell.

Suppose the Kia had been brought in for this legitimate warranty repair as a “dealer car”, and suppose coverage was refused for that reason. However, if the dealer then simply gave up and sold the Kia “as is” the new owner would be entitled to warranty coverage. So as the earlier commenter said, ultimately Kia is responsible. I feel like dealers who stocked up during the pandemic, will have to realize that they have to cut losses and likely sell most of their inventory at a loss. Its just the way greed works, it always gets turned back on you.

Your experience with the dealer is the same as I have experienced. I hear a lot of bad mouthing of Hyundai and kia,In the last 13 years I and my family have bought 1 Hyundai and 8 kias. Never had any problems that were not fixed promptly. Loaner cars were furnished if the car couldn't be fixed in 48 hours. Of these cars 7 are still in service with mileage from 13,000 to just under 200,000. One was totaled and the other was sold off because it became excess. I do still see it running around town once in a while. I have owned american, Japanese. European, and Korean cars. The Korean cars have been the best by far. They are reasonable to buy and inexpensive to run and come standard with 5 year bumper to bumper warranty plus 10 year drive train warranty, no other manufacturer offers that. All they require is that you do the service when needed. And that's the key. I see Toyota and Hyundai are offering free service for 2 and 3 years on New cars. I suspect that is because enough people are not servicing their car properly and they fail thus giving the car a bad name. I would never buy a used vehicle without a complete service history.

I always get great service at Kia. Expensive service, but its always top notch and they have a record of it. 2011 Optima 4cyl. 160k. No issues at all, just reg maintanance. I don't bag my vehicles either, get 45 mpg highway at 70mph. The stock stereo is garbage, but I just put a 400 watt Amp in and its awesome now.

I totally agree the line up of vehicles they sell have improved dramatically. My wife and I always pass a Kia driving and we’re always like wow, kias have came a long way. I tell her if they take the badging off the car you wouldn’t know it’s a Kia because how much they improved the designs of their vehicles. Obviously the engine issue is a different story. Unfortunately they have to suck up the costs and do what’s right for the customers.

I read alot about the Kia Warranty when the misses was about to buy her 2021 Sedona.Alot of fine print, warranty is very specific, dealership registering it would not give a full warranty etc.Well after much back and forth we purchased with extended warranty and lifetime oil changes, pretty much Kia dealership does all work even oil changes. And the way its burning oil at 25k I'm glad i did,no way they're sticking me with a bill😂😂

That theory might not get the outcome you think. I have tried those things and dealerships will randomly deny warranty work as another tech commented. A few got it others didn't. They used the no oil change receipts excuse on my new Audi and I furnished them with all the original receipts. They then trashed them so when I picked up the car oh sorry we can't seem to find any folder with receipts you claim to have given us. The service advisor assured me he would honor future claims as he knew I just gave him the folder a few days earlier. You guessed it when I returned for more warranty work they denied it from lacking oil change receipts and this same advisor knew nothing of his promises. I learned not to buy an Audi and expect them to be reliable or the dealers to have integrity. My Elantra had engine knock and I didn't want to repeat all that despite some recall for it because it was in a cold climate and a known issue. I have had enough bad repairs done by mechanics and dealer denials of claims to learn the only sure way is to buy a more reliable car. My next cars were Hondas then Toyotas. If you study more they will claim oil burning is normal. That's what many people have posted their poor experience on that issue was and won't repair your car. After the warranty runs out they WILL stick you with the bill 😥😥

I traded in a 2016 Chrysler Town and County,at 76k miles because of Dealerships. They never get my original receipts that's a big No,I had 3 dealerships perform the work since the first 2 kept dropping the ball. After I traded for the Kia I received a refund 6 months later for last. Unfortunately buying any vehicle these days is a gamble and I didn't have the extra 15k to buy a Toyota or Honda ,or I would have .The Town and Country dying by 76k was an unplanned event.
