I think it took so long as the kpop industry so viable to SKorea. Idols always seem to be considered last In many regards. Look at the way they parade them through airports, endangering them and others, all just to attract and create attention. Most countries would not and do not EVER allow such a thing.

SO GLAD that the law can now prosecute the Sasaengs without agreement from the victim!!!! YES!!!! It's about freaking time!!! I never understood why idols would often forgive the Sasaengs instead of prosecuting them because honestly that's just enabling Sasaeng behavior.

FINALLY! A blessing has come to kpop today Edit: I doubt that paparazzi will get any repercussions, since they've been acting out since the beginning and it's kinda accepted as "normal" or "expected", which is sad and horrifying cuz a persistent paparazzi was the cause of death of princess Diana, and even then it's still a thing.

Even some fansites (that international fans love to call sasaengs but also love to get pictures from) won't have the repercussions international fans want because sometimes someone let's news slip about schedules so they can show up.

Princess Diana got into a car with a drunk driver who was also mixing prescription medication with the alcohol. She didn't put her seat belt on either.
I doubt it would stop them. My friends and I actively tried to stop sasaengs from following an NCT member while he had schedule overseas in our country. The only action that can stop the behavior is exposing them and revealing their identity, until people recognize them in public areas and feel like their privacy is in jeopardy. An eye for an eye, and it sort of works.

unfortunately I feel like some won’t stop. Like.. they’re already willing to go this far, I’m sure some don’t give a shit. But this will definitely help! Saesangs are crazy and I’m happy they’re finally getting punished! I don’t want to hear more announcements from companies saying people are staying outside idols’ houses/dorms or hearing it from the idols themselves. I hope to never see the crazy things those people came up with. I can’t imagine dealing with a stalker, let alone multiple.
It's good that this not only help idols's cases but also normal citizens who suffer from stalking everyday in South Korea. Idols at least have their security guards to take care of them, but normal citizens have no one to watch out for them. Now at least idols can sleep a lil better now
It's sad that it needed a death to have stricter stalking laws. I remember a discussion where we talked about how to get away with murder/revenge. The other girl and I way agreed that stalking the victim and terrorizing them mentally with (cyber-)stalking is scarier than death for us and the stalker can get away quite 'well' (some fine and restriction order). And that the police won't take the issue serious, especially if it is a conventional pretty woman 😅. It's scary how easy and real this is...

Too bad the law is barely ever applied here, especially when it comes to stalking. Just recently in the news there was a lady who filed stalking charges against her ex because he was always calling her. It was ruled "not stalking" because she never actually answered the phone! And a poor lady was unalived in a subway bathroom a few months ago by her stalker, in that case the police had wanted to take him into custody but a judge decided he wasn't dangerous. Also, nayeon's stalker is still here in Korea and still not in any trouble. The stalking laws here are just a joke. The new laws won't change a thing.

One of my male friends was stalked by a girl (not in South Korea) and he had to fight for a restraining order and for charges against her after he broke in to his home. Basically they said he's a guy, why should he be scared of a girl? Eventually he video recorded her death threats and she got in trouble, but it was really stressful and took ages, and he was threatened and stalked the entire time (for months). They said stuff like, oh she broke in but that's not proof she was the one who smashed up the house while she was there. It is so weird how stalkers get treated as harmless.

I truly hope this is true no idol deserves to be harassed etc they deserve to live their lives without having to worry about it. All idols deserve privacy and deserve respect and they all need to be protected no matter who they are. I hate sasaengs as they don’t about the Idols all the want is to get attention nothing more .
Imagine how relieve the idols feel after this! Hopefully they start to feel more comfortable and less anxious. I honestly feel bad that the government did something after the victim lost her life because of a stalker, it shouldn't have ended like that 😔

This is good this needs to be taken seriously. It is sad that Idols and people have to go through these things but I'm glad something is being done. I hope they will find a way to help citizens and Idols (citizens too) feel safer and stop this activity as much as they have the power to do.
Bout time!!! This should have been in place A LONG time ago! But how will this apply in Nayeon’s situation? That needs to be stopped!
Finally! The law is the law and hopefully the sasaengs will be punished accordingly if the victim does press charges etc. I remembered that in the states they already were on top of this with anti-stalking! It’s definitely taken seriously! And now finally South Korea! But I’m concerned about other countries abroad since sasaengs can appear from around the world such as Josh for example (I know he came to South Korea to try and stalk her but, what if Twice were to travel to a different country and the laws there differed and the risk was increased for Twice’s Nayeon?). What if these idols go abroad and they don’t have the strict laws like the USA or South Korea? That’s what I’m concerned for. I hope all the countries that any of these idols will travel to would do the same in strengthening their own Anti-Stalking law. And also another question without an answer is why haven’t idols used VPNs to at least reduce the cyber stalking , hide their location or hacking etc.
Finallyyyyyy!!!! This law should’ve been passed a long time ago with all the heinous incidents sasaengs have done to idols. But I’m just happy that this law is finally here to protect the idols.
I really pray this will help. But sometimes psychos just can’t be deterred. But I hope this will give so many people the safety they deserve. That definitely should have been a law a long time ago.
If I was a celebrity, I wouldn't eat or drink anything given by a fan. I don't trust people enough for that. Yikes.
stalking is basically premeditated murder. idgaf what your intentions are if you’re stalking someone you’re a danger to the victim and society. psycho. it pisses me off thinking of all those who died when it was perfectly preventable. it makes you think the police force/government just don’t care until the worst happens. it’s insane. it’s all so simple. make it so these freaks know there’s going to be consequences and no room for them to get very far in the first place
I was shocked when I first discovered how lax stalking laws are in SK. I'm glad they are taking action. It feels like too little too late in some instances. Maybe this is why so many KPop fans like being in the USA? I mean, we have our issues, but personal space is a big deal here. Culturally we're adverse to stalking behavior, though this is a battle we fought decades ago.

Long overdue!!! time to sue all those sasaengs! Also I'm not sure about dsptch and other medias, they have the so-called media/journalist privileges, in relation to their job to 'be the citizens' voice' or 'revealing truths for the public.' it'll be tricky for media outlets, but at least crazy rich people who has nothing better to do with their money and stalking idols can now be sued!!
If sasaengs are following them all around, where is their income coming from? The media?
Finally! The obsession to that type of level is scary
It will definitely deter them… but remember laws are made to punish not to stop… any nut case is unfortunately still intact with free will
