    Actually the “water diet” is incredibly common amongst idols, actors and body builders/models that need a very chiseled ab look. It has been repeatedly said that to get the definition that you really want to see, drinking water and then nothing at all for 24 hours before a shoot - the dehydration gives stronger definition to your muscles. Probably all your faves have done it, or something similar.

  • @jackiearnolds

    @jackiearnolds

    But it's important to add that it is very dangerous and harmful. Bodybuilders do this a lot to make their muscles more clear before competitions and even the effort of standing and flexing their muscles is often enough to make them pass out. When there are no competitions, they look very different. And a full day without water may not seem much, but it's A LOT. You can literally die in three days without water. So it's important to eat well and drink lots of water, being skinny is not worth your life. Just try to be healthy knowing you are beautiful no matter your weight

I've never seen him more angry, depressed and unfocused. He looked like a sick person after doing this. He lost A LOT of weight but gained it all back in just a few weeks... not worth it at all!

It cleared up my problem in that time thankfully but I barely had the brain capacity to make dinner at the end. Your brain is made of fat and it needs it. Honestly the best way to lose weight is to just figure out your maintenance caloric needs and then cut that by 500 to lose 1 pound a week, or by 250 to lose 0.5 pounds a week. Calorie counting is definitely not good for everyone though because you can become obsessed with it and it can turn into something bad. Eating way too little will slow down your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight

  • @Martianmarsbar
    @Martianmarsbar Жыл бұрын

    The Ailee one is so interesting and really tells you how much dieting messes up your metabolism, she ate 500 calories and "a normal amount of calories" would be 1200, THAT IS 1000 CALORIES LESS THAN WHAT MOST AFAB ADULTS THAT WORKOUT REGULARLY NEED, and idols workout basically everyday, that is crazy to me. I am working on my health and I am losing weight at 1850 calories even on the days I dont work out, please if you are reading this and are struggling with dieting and/or an ED, I have been there and I have done those 1200 diets, its not sustainable and I fell sick really quickly, you dont need to starve yourself, happiness in the long-run is way more important. My mood is no longer unstable, I can do everything I want and eat out and enjoy social things without having anxiety about eating or getting enough exercise. I eat the things I crave when I crave them, I exercise for my mental health as my number on priority. I know the need for control when nothing else seems to go your way, but theres ways you can do it without putting a strain on your health mental or physical

    @@belle3809 actually the recommended amount is 2000 calories, but ofc that is in a perfect world and can also maybe be based on old data, but most people that have tried more extreme diets before may have messed with their metabolic rate, because workouts stand for way less for the calories we burn than bmr or thermal energy. Bmr is what we would burn if we did nothing all day, and yes it is effected slightly by muscle mass but its not the be all end all c:

I am 5'3 woman and weigh around 60kg and the official diet for maintenance that i got from my nutricionist is ≈1600kcal, which is my TDEE, and is for most women. 1200 is only a very restrictive diet for men, but for most women, it is a normal caloric deficit.

    @@belle3809 did you read my comment? Like I am genuinely asking, I said it was 2000 in a "perfect world" but also I have been talking about very active people (ailee would dance and practice multiple hours a day). I will use myself as an example, I workout 4 times a week, I have tried eating ~1600 calories and I DROP in weight, I am 5'6 and ~67kg, I have eaten ~1800 calories and it makes me lose weight nice and slowly, I have always been very athleticly built, you probably got recommended 1600 because its what you need to maintain your weight, because of your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), most people do not have the same TDEE because it takes many different things into consideration BMR, NEAT, EAT AND TEF. I did say 2000 is in a perfect world and may be based on old data, and once again we are all different, but I also watch very active people on the internet and most of those women eat about 2100+ calories a day whether they work out or not that day. I hope we can both agree that we all are different, I just meant from my research and knowledge a person as active as Ailee would probably need 2000 as maintenance (pretty sure her metabolism is messed up though from all the crash diets) I hope you have a great day c:

    Even if the agencies provided nutritionists so that idols can have "healthier" diets, agencies require idols to be medically underweight (out of the healthy range). Even if Sonmi is now keeping up with her weight with exercise, 46kg for someone of her height is VASTLY underweight. Nutritionists or fitness trainers would not be proper professionals if they enabled weight loss to this degree

    The sad thing is that many idols are at a good weight, corresponding to their body before debuting, but for companies it's not enough and they make them lose weight to look "good" on camera. Many idols end up debuting with a very low weight (below the minimum they should have) they literally go off the scale that corresponds to their body, but since it is not obvious, everyone praises how beautiful they look. And in the next comeback 2 things tend to happen: 1) idols return to their normal weight and because is an obvious change, people point out that the idols is "getting fat" and demand them that they NEED to lose weight 2) they lose another kilo, and now since that weight loss is obvious, now people point out that they probably are under an eating disorder and demand them to gain weight

    People don't realise that some of these idols are straight-up malnourished and their BMI shows they're severely underweight. The desired body can cause them heart issues, early osteoporosis, a diminished immune system... etc. Out of these, osteoporosis is the scariest to me, your bones are so brittle that a simple little fall can break your hip. They wouldn't notice it now, but in their 50s they might have the bones of an 80 year old.

    I relate the most to Ailee. Like Ailee, I was raised in America my whole life. I’m also Korean-American from the States. Being raised in a different culture eating different things does make you different from people who grew up in Korea physically, because over the long years, you adapt to where you grow up. It’s extremely hard for me to lose my curves, and I totally relate. But ultimately, I don’t think we should care what people think and just maintain or lose weight to the point where we are happy. Ailee is a beautiful woman, and f#ck anyone who talks sh&t about her.

    to make things clear cause it feels like a lot kpop fans have a huge problem with food/weight..1200 cals a day is NOT ENOUGH! only if you're a 1-4 years child eating this little is okay. a normal teenager between 13-14 should eat around 2200 per day. 15-18 year olds around 2500! (a healthy calorie deficit is 100-300 cals less MAX! )ofc everything depends on your height, weight, activity etc! (also if you're overweight and choose to eat this little you can die fast) please do your research before choosing to starve.

    Please consider changing your diet... You wrote how your body reacts to this and it's obviously incredibly dangerous to do it this way. Instead of loosing weight in such an unhealthy way which is likely to be followed by the yoyo effect afterwards, consider slow weight loss through a normal calory consumption + workout routines that will help you achieve your weight goal in a healthy way T-T. I know that sounded like a weight coach or something but it's really true... Please take care of your body!

    Although I lost 50 lbs by water fasting, you don't need to eat that low if you're going to reduce calories. Calculate your maintenance calories and cut by 300-500 calories. Your body will go into starvation mode by eating so low calories and eventually you'll start to plateau or even gain weight. This doesn't happen with water fasting though, so it was successful for me.

    Why would you weight train while on a diet? Weight training is for building strengh, building muscle, you can't build anything if you're not giving your body enough fuel to. Basicly what i'm trying to say is that weight training is only effective if you eat in a calorie excess so that your body has somewhere it can take builingblocks for the muscle it wants to build. If you're on a diet to lose weight then weight training seems like a waist of time.
