The Endless Nightmare Of Loris Karius

Спорт

One game. That’s all it takes to completely change the trajectory of a football career. For some, like Germany's 2014 World Cup hero Mario Götze, one game can propel you to superstardom. But there are others who aren't so lucky, and for fellow German Loris Karius, it took just one traumatic game for his promising career to crash and burn right before his eyes...

Tbf, this video brilliantly “highlights” exactly what was still in my memory in the events leading up to that final. The one where the ball slices through his hands and onto the crossbar, among many other comedic errors to goals. So, I was never at ease when he was number 1, and that final just sums everything up. I dont rate Mignolet at all, but Karius was another level of comedy. Thats how my memory of him was like.

This is delusion, most rival fans were laughing at him, and most Liverpool fans were upset. However Klopp wanted to keep him on, but he wasn’t good enough, football is not a charity, if you are not league standard you will not play as it hurts your team. He couldn’t get in over old shaky Adrian. for not keeping a player deemed not good enough in Turkey is a violation of the motto? You’ll Never Walk Alone is not about playing mediocre players, do you think it exempts players from bad performances, like should the local postman play at this point? The support Nat Phillips and many usually not even rotation players got during the disastrous 20/21 season got proves you wrong

Stop mythologizing, yours is just another club with similar rubbish, entitled fans - just like every other club (and just like my own club - in fact we have perhaps even worse fans) - and your fans will throw players under the bus just like fans of any other club. As for making a mistake in your job, you are absolutely right. You might be sacked on the spot for a horrible (but honest) error. But the company is not claiming to be one nice warm family, not claiming 'you'll never walk alone'. It's a profit making entity built for mutual benefit- if you are getting in the way of the profit-making of the company, out you go. Now back to football - the issue is not that your fans are fickle and entitled - because we all know that's the same everywhere else, with every other club (including our own clubs). The hypocrisy with your fan base is the issue. You'll never walk alone is a joke.

He was elbowed by his left eye it knocked his vision out, anyone who has been hit hard enough near the eye knows how hard it is to play with. Same thing happened to me in a hockey game but with a knee, it wipes out your vision on that side, gives you double vision, you are so vulnerable. I didn't realise someone was pressing me until i saw them in my right eye, same thing would've happened with karius and the benzema goal. Then add on the effects of concussion, double vision from the collision then explains the bale mishandle. If you are still ignorant, try getting hit hard enough near the eye to knock your vision out, and play a game with that, you cant.

The sad Part here is that Klopp who was responsible for making him Nr 1 and his teammates left him alone. The big problem that actually haunts me about this situation as a Liverpool fan is, WHY did we keep Simon (useless) Mignolet for so long, 1yr after Klopp took over he finally got the message and went to Mainz to get Karius (we could have had Bernd Leno or Ter-Stegen!!!! who were both available at the time but never mind) Had Mignolet been ditched under the end of Rogers tenure and certainly early in Klopps, then we would never have heard of Lorius Karius . As it is, the bloke was clearly out of his depth in the first few weeks with Klopp saying 'He's not ready' He was NEVER ready because he was MILES off being a top keeper for a major club. Very unlucky but could have easily been avoided had Klopp listened when he arrived to the criticism Mignolet was already getting for poor performances. We only bought him on the strength that he had stopped a million shots for Sunderland on their way to relegation. WHY did we get rid of Reina, stupid decision.

However Klopp wanted to keep him on, but he just wasn’t good enough, football is not a charity, if you are not league standard you will not play as it hurts your team. He couldn’t get in over old shaky Adrian. You’ll Never Walk Alone is not about playing mediocre players, do you think it exempts players from bad performances, like should the local postman play at this point? The support Nat Phillips and many usually not even rotation players got during the disastrous 20/21 season got proves your shout as wrong…

@@rbkeyz2328 Bro, by any chance,, do you not understand what a concussion is? A concussed player likely would not be aware that he is concussed, therfor he isn't gonna make the conscious and analytic decision to ask the coach to sub him off for the teams benefit. It is something that must be noticed by others, a severely concussed player cannot self diagnose himself because that would require an unimpaired sense of logical thinking. Which he can't do. Literally BECAUSE he is concussed. When Kramer was concussed in the WC 2014 final he didn't even know what day it was and which game he played. He played another 14 minutes before the ref noticed that he was walking around disorientated and mainly spoke gibberish. He even said he doesn't actually have any memory from the game anymore. The idea that Karius in that condition should nonetheless be blamed for his lapse of rational decision making is insane.

Karius was a ticking timebomb. He had absolutely no business being a senior player at a club like Liverpool and was only no. 1 because Mignolet was also out of his depth and suffering a crisis in confidence. Karius was a poor goalkeeper at the top level, let in far more soft goals than expected in the 3 quarters of a season he had been no.1 to that point, without showing any real outstanding attributes to make up for it. He was all unshakeable ego, no focus and average talent. But he had this bravado which can sometimes trick managers into thinking they're worth investing in, whereas Mignolet seemed to be falling apart with stress and lack of self belief. Two bad options to start in goal in a CL final and Mignolet would have been just as likely to let Liverpool down and become a footballing punchline. They had Danny Ward on the books then as well, which just doesn't bear thinking about. The goalkeeper coaching and recruitment at Liverpool was clearly completely misguided at that time. Karius seems to have lost that bravado and ego now and accepted the narrative, trying to maximise what he can earn as a career backup. He had time on his side but the 2 subsequent loan spells at Besiktas and Union Berlin seem to have set back his chance for redemption a long way. At Besiktas he was 1st choice but was mostly awful for them, ending up a hate figure for the fans and used as a scapegoat by the management. At Union Berlin, a club the size he should have expected to start regularly for, he never really even got a look in. And where should he go from there? Down to 2. Bundesliga where he'd really have to knuckle down and shed his fantasies of generational greatness, hoping that if he can manage 2 or 3 solid seasons Mainz might take him back? Why do that when you can just earn £50k+ per week at Newcastle and rarely having to deal with the stress and reality check of actually having to play elite level football.

I was a tight end and kept trying to line up as wide receiver and on defense. I even got into a fight in the sidelines with a guy who said hey to me and wound up breaking his leg. Don’t remember any of it. When I was at the doctor I thought it was Wednesday and it was a Friday. I could not imagine playing at the highest level of football against freaking Madrid as a goalkeeper which requires split second decisions and full field awareness.
