Perfect timing! I had just seen this product the other day and it caught my eye. Really interesting product that's HQ-adjacent in design!

I like everything about this - it looks amazing and the ways to set if up are fantastic. The o ly thing I would change is the non-story associated with it. It is basically "Clear a dungeon". I would rewrite it to make it more interesting.

This looks brilliant. Shame they don't ship to UK ☹️ my new group are loving Heroquest (classic) so looking to expand where I can. Love your content, really appreciate it, keep it up!

Thanks so much! I will do my best to keep it up! I'm still hoping a UK entrepreneur opens a drivethrurpg variant...it would be win/win/win truly

Beautiful tiles, as always from Ian, but as with his other non standard HQ layouts, I really don't care for the 1inch walls functionally. Looking at the previews of the quests, the encounters look like they'll be fought at the doorways, and any hero who does make it into the rooms, will be surrounded by monsters or there just isn't enough room for tactical movement within the rooms as they're all just too small. Unless you just open the doors and let fights take place in the hallways, the battles will be 1v1 at the doors. It doesn't feel realistic to be even compatible to HQ furniture outside of doors and single tile pieces. I really want to like these, as they're gorgeous, but there are only classic layouts of the original board available with the non-inch walls, which isn't what I'm after either.

This is fair (and unfortunately true for the battles in rooms the heroes enter). The button-press mechanic in the first quest does seem to mitigate this a little, leaving the heroes some distance away while the first gate opens and they wisen up. Then it's a battle of patience. Does zargon send troops to the single tile of death, or lure the heroes in? There are homebrew solutions that have worked for folks who want to deter doorway combatants in vanilla HQ. Give the enemies ranged weaponry, or staves? Introduce a push mechanic? Place a second door / have a monster "crash" through a wall? Use the Evil Wizard deck so it's in the players' best interests not to waste any time? Allow the door tile to be considered as negligible (my approach)? (This looks a little funky once you have heroes using diagonal attacks from the sides of the door into the room, but it still works if you're willing to ignore the tile's existence)

@@AshQuest TBF&H, HQ's original layout leaves a lot to be desired as far as room spacing. These double down on that issue. ;(

When playing with tiles, what do you find the best way to keep them all in place. My son is a bit hasty with movements and bumps stuff regularly

Find an OCD player to put them back whenever they shift. It's me. I'm the OCD player.

I'm still working on an answer to this myself - tiles are just harder to keep in place no matter what. Perhaps you could make a simple jig I to which to insert the tiles such that they can't move, though. Something that's still on my to do list.

I have not played with these but when using thin card board like these I have used a sheet of clear acrylic that is the same size as my small game table. Position the tiles and gently lower the acrylic evenly down on top of the tiles. Once in place anything that is moved on the surface of the acrylic will not affect the tiles… unless the sheet get bumped.
