    If you're serious about doing quests away from dungeons, the best thing to do is buy the loke battle mats. You can get mats size A4 and A3 and they cover a wide range from towns, dungeons, castles and wilderness. I've got them all plus the static clings and they're brilliant for homebrew adventures.

    Thank you for the review. As I prefer the furniture to be 3D, it had never occurred to me to even look at these clings. But seeing all the creative use for the scenery and for 'editing' the board, and how well the size matches up, has just put this on my wishlist. I think a good use of the 'modular' dungeon floor elements is that you can expand / reduce the size of the existing rooms, since the pieces are bordered by walls on 1 or more sides.

    me and my friends just started Hero Quest on Tabletop Simulator, I have literally every expansion and I have no idea how to use them so using anything besides the basic quests blows my mind lol

    I so love this channel. I would have liked to have seen these made as cardboard tiles. It would be more durable and less of a pain to peal off. Rooftops can be pulled off if a hero enters a building. Then, other tiles can be placed when they are revealed. Nice ideas.

    Thanks so much for the kind words and ideas! I've been thinking about permanently affixing these to tiles to use, so I can use with non laminated boards. We will see how that goes!

    I think the "cart" is just a top-down view of a siege tower. I really would love to see Avalon Hill do a future game with a new full-sized board in different outdoor environments with modular elements like three-dimension walls, trenches, tents, mounds of corpses, etc. I love the Loke Battle Mats, but not sure how I feel about decals, just from a textural and dimensional perspective.

    very understandable, they come with some considerations of their own such as storage and whether or not they "make sense" when other terrain is 3d, so some shoe-horning may be required to fit them into some games. I think the real intent is to have them utilized for 5e D&D, so I'm definitely experimenting by bringing them into a dungeon crawl!

    I was checking out some of their most recent offerings on Instagram and was really impressed by just how many environs they cover. Some of the Eldritch and Lovecraftian ones of ruined temples, forests, old churches, etc. would open up a lot of storytelling opportunities for Zargon.

    Let me ask you another question, Ash: do you know if we can buy a board which is "plain"? That is, like the HQ board but all squares the same style (i. e., grey tiles with cracks like the ones in the corridors). It would be reeeeally useful to have one because then you'll be absolutely free to place whatever elements from the Loke's books you want. That way, rooms in our tradictional HQ board wouldn't "define" or "dictate" where to put our scenery. Thanks in advance.

    Just to make sure I understand, you'd want this grid without any walls, right? If so, you can find options on Amazon, one of which is TidyBoss who makes 3 double sided 24x36 battle mats which have some theme (like rock or grass) but otherwise no walls or limitations on where to place anything; search for "tidyboss dungeons and dragons starter set" They are dry erase compatible

    Could those room clings be oriented to combine room spaces?

  • @AshQuest

    @AshQuest

    8 ай бұрын

    This is tough. Some of the roofs could be oriented such that climbing up one side allows you to drop down on the other, but those are more connections rather than room combiners. So I guess there are some unconventional ways, but nothing big enough to lay on top of two rooms and make them into one like the HQ expansion tiles sometimes do.
