The Double Lickey Banker Featuring 6201. 7752 & 9600 24/03/2012

Whilst attending the Severn Valley Railway Spring Gala it was a must to pop over to the Lickey incline in Worcestershire, and film the spectacle of 'Lizzie' attacking the mighty 1 in 37 of this bank with assistance of two Pannier tanks 7752 and 9600. on the return working of a Special from Solihull to Bristol. I have never seen so many people in attendance, with droves arriving every minute, making filming very difficult. The result is short, but full of action, and I hope you enjoy the results of spending several hours in a field with temperatures running into the twenties

thought I'd seen them all, but your attention to the event, the atmosphere, and never to close when not appropriate, was as usual spot on, a clear picture of the panniers slowing for the signal check, and then their rods flailing as they puffed their little hearts out, was a marvelous sight, the sound also to match , glad you let it run as the headed away, lovely, cheers.

Fantastic shot Rob. I know what you mean about the heat and waiting around. I were stood up at Pikes Pool waiting for 3 hrs in the sun to video until it came up the bank! Certainly worth it though as I'm sure you'll agree. Excellent angle and great that you took a wide angle panning shot as the people in the foreground adds to the shot a bit rather than detract from it. Very enjoyable viewing and thanks for uploading - Hayden.

Thought you might be tempted, along with the milling throng. The sunshine certainly brought the crowds out. Tanks looked impressive; nice to see them out on the mainline and, together, with a greater tractive effort than Lizzie! Looked like they were doing the majority of the work as well!! So you decided to join the crowds of hundreds to see this fine 'concert'? Like you say I too was amazed at how many had turned up for this despite my third visit to the Lickey in two years. Its so little wonder why the main road nearby was gridlocked, but looking at this just shows how popular the Lickey Incline gets it's name
