YA movies were all the rage in the early 2010s, but a strange thing happened where those young adults… aged? It seems like the even younger adults did not share the same enthusiasm for the genre, and nothing made that clearer than the drop-off that was seen in the Divergent series.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent definitely raises some questions. Like how is Tris so good at hair styling? How did the bad guys get that magic technology in the past 5 days? How do any conspiracies exist when truth serum is a thing? How does Janine lose when she’s mind-controlling an entire faction?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to The Divergent Series: Insurgent!

As a side note the one movie, I really want him to do that hasn't come out yet is Rust. No, it has not been cancelled, and no I don't think it would pay to wait for the movie to come out. @@MusicoftheDamnedIts lazy writing, since every inconsistency can be looped back to "It wasnt real!" - its only slightly beter than "it was a dream all along". @MusicoftheDamned

@@impeeratorii Agreed about it being lazy writing. YA gets a bad rap, but it's really not helped by the fact that it seems like only the most shallow YA novels become mainstream popular and then get adapted into often even more shallow movies. I'm not sure if Hollywood just really love dystopian YA stuff or if that's really consistently popular for some reason or if they just happen to be the YA stuff that's a series most often, meaning that it's easier for Hollywood to milk such IPs. It sure feels like some combination thereof though, especially when the only YA Hollywood series adaptation I can think of off the top of my head that *isn't* (intentionally) dystopian is the even worse written _Twilight_ series. (Funnily enough that too has its own "it was only a dream" equivalent. Thanks for barely spicing up a boring book & movie, Alice.)

Apparently, that's WG's fault. Looking it up, that part of the scene in the last movie wasn't in the book, bad guy wasn't in the room so Tris never had the chance to stupidly 'let her live'. Hence WG creating a plot hole with this movie w/ Tris starting out as "we should kill her". This movie sounds like having a lot of nonsensical stuff too, so I'm curious (not really) how many of those scene's were WG just throwing in a fight or something just to add in some action even if it didn't make any sense.

@@bradleyhiggs3824 I've found it to be a pretty fun hate-watch. It's not exactly a "so bad its good" movie like Troll 2 or The Room, but it has some other special quality that I just absolutely love (to hate.) I can't wait for the other 4 movies he has planned for it, lol What was particularly amazing for me is the first movie got shredded for being a rip off of a bunch of other movies. Part 2 though? It literally is a carbon copy of the first movie. It ripped itself off. The plot barely progresses a single inch further than part 1 despite being 2 hours of content. All they do is add in some meaningless background story about what happened to the princess (that in no way effects anything in this movie) and finally have the robot fight (although, he fights nearly just as much as he did in the first movie, so even that's not new.) And while this new one doesn't have them go on the quest to recruit each and every hero of the superteam (that never interacts with one another.) This movie still has the audacity to hit us with a 'montage' of their origin stories (all while not interacting with one another. Seriously. It's absurd. Like one dude tells a story about how the empire murdered his entire squad to punish him. And without acknowledging dude's agony with a single word or body gesture, the next hero in line immediately launches into their 2-minute sales pitch for an entirely different product.) So it basically re-tells us the whole "team assembly" story line that the first movie gave us. All so that they can then have the same exact fight that the first movie told us would happen. (And did happen already, just in an 'unexpected' location) Can't wait for part 3!
The “Revisited” series, especially the part where Ryan punches up the old scripts, gives me a whole new appreciation for how good these later Pitch Meetings are. Way to go.
"We need to find the very special one!" "It doesn't say that though right.. that's like a placeholder line?" ..... "Yes." 😂😂😂

Having to rewatch the episode you just forgot about because you passed out for breathing in and not breathing out quick enough is tight.
i cannot wait for part 3 of this film series's pitch meeting
Also, I love how producer guys facial expression was the opposite of what he said (that make's sense...with and frustrated/angry face), my kinda humor!!!! (more of that...all though not too much 🤣 )
Im rewatching these movies rn so perfect timing
3:03 Congratulations on that successful delivery.
4:16 that's some good acting actually
Pitch Meeting BINGO: ‘Super easy. Barely an inconvenience’ ‘Oh my god!’ ‘*insert phrase’ is tight!’ ‘I don’t know’ ‘Going to need you to get all the way off of my back!’
So, Divergent is a Fallout/Vault fanfic? "We ran this experiment because why not, also everything outside the vault is irradiated/rubble, so good luck now that we opened the Vault for you".

I think the author was just very young and possibly high.
Viewing a pitch meeting so early is tight!
Giving Ryan all the time he needs to take care of his newborn daughter is SUPER EASY, BARELY AN INCONVENIENCE!!!
a hardworking man doing his job just right ❤
Syncing your "Very special one" with hers was absolutely perfect. 😂

That would be too easy to make fun of. He likes to have a challenge.
This movie is so unremarkable that I not just forgot it existed (that happens a lot) but even forgetting watching the pitch meeting for the first part. That's new.
Read the books, never seen the movies (and I'm probably never going to). How did they take an already dubious-quality story and make it WORSE? Like, I'm actually in awe. (Also, hilarious video as always--I love your content so much! Thank you for sparing me from having to watch the movie myself)
Thank you, Ryan, for recording a backlog! This pitch meeting with Divergent was a present from the past to the present. Well sent.
ohhhh, new pitch meetings are tight!
Love the Beverly hillbillies reference 😂
Only Ryan can keep putting a smile on my face with so much consistency. "Now that's a good question!" - "Oh thank youuu" - "Anyway..." 😂
Yay. 😂 A new pitch meeting of a movie that I've never seen. 😊
Watching new pitch meetings while driving is super easy, barely an inconve
"I'm not saying that again. My tongue almost fell off." LOL!!!
This is one of those rare occasions where even with 2 Ryans explaining the plot of a movie I still can't figure out what the hell is going on.
Ryan out here doing the work of reminding us that these movies exist. Not the Lord's work but somebody's.
3:58 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm so grateful I only watched Divergent (which was quite fun) and didn't continue with the sequels! Top-notch pitch meeting :-)
Congratulations, George family! 🩷
Even while laughing about these movies, I can feel an anger inside me at how just completely terrible the writing is.
This guy: - Not only listens to fans but actively explains his brain - Consistently puts advertisers where they belong - Has impeccable comedic timing - Uses a piece of real paper - Is North American Show me a better content creator please!

This is one of my favorite pitch meetings. I love the fumbling of words after the box is open about divergents are… uh… you know… well… special… and uh… the key to everything. Thanks you Ryan! You always do good work! P.S. Please make a Pitch Meeting for Warcraft. Thank you.
Congrats on the family Mr. George. Wishing you all the happiness.
