The Disturbing Case of Chad Isaak

Ойын-сауық

In Mandan, North Dakota, an employee at RJR Management came into work one morning to find a disturbing scene. Four employees, all brutally slain. Who would do such a thing, and why? We only know the answer to one of those questions.

I find that seeing people on the last day that they're alive, especially on cctv footages, somewhat morbidly surreal. Seeing them walk in to the building one by one knowing that they're going to be killed sends shivers to my spine. R.i.p. to these people.

@@ArainaNespiak I feel the same way. It also hits me when you see the weapon and know that is what was used to attack people. In this video seeing that knife and it being bent from stabbing someone gave me a chill. It also hits me hard when not only is their no motive but that the person really has no history with the police. Most of us would think we would be able to tell if someone was truly a monster and unfortunately in alot of the cases the person looks and acts like you and me. Never a clue that they would kill someone. I grew up with and was good friends with one of my neighbors my whole life and probably thirty year of us being friends and him visiting and knowing my kids he brutally kidnapped, raped and murdered a teenage girl that worked for Domino's Pizza. When she went missing some little voice in me said it was him. I told my husband and he said you should call the police. They ignored me and kind of laughed like I was a nut. A few days later I heard on the news that he was a suspect. And a couple of weeks later he was arrested and charged with first degree murder and now he is in Angola Prison here in Louisiana for the rest of his life. During the sentencing he turned to everyone in the court and just laughed like a mad man. Knowing someone who is capable of something like that is hard to deal with. It's also been hard for me after all of these years that when my kids were growing up they knew him,had been around them and I am grateful that he never turned on me or my children. I feel lucky everyday but I still have trouble sometimes that this poor girl who's life was just starting was murdered and in an especially gruesome way.

I was a CO at the ND Penn for about 2 years. I quit about a month before Chad was sent there. First off, the amount of inmates who covered there windows was appalling. It obviously wasn’t allowed, but we never really put our foot down on the issue. I remember reading about this, and the CO. He had worked in BIU (the hole) with me when he was pretty fresh. When this incident happened, he couldn’t have worked there for more than 4-5 months. I don't know why, but at 17:47, when the video shows Adam walking in, I lost it. His mannerisms are so innocent and childlike--hands full with coffee and papers and phone, looking down at something spilled or something that hit his foot, and pushing the door open with his back. So wholesomely mundane just eager to get to work, unknowingly walking into a homicidal ambush only to be shot AND stabbed seconds later. My heart breaks for all of the victims, but this particular visual was so cutting.

@@TheRhNegative There are three running theories. 1. Isaak was a hitman for a motorcycle gang that had beef with RJR. 2. Isaak had a mental breakdown from work in the military and snapped. 3. He just wanted to hunt humans for sport. I remember in the trial that the leading theory was the final one as they couldn’t find any links between Isaak and any gangs and that the murders were too premeditated for a psychotic break. I remember one person at the trial noted the weapons used and clothing he wore could’ve been a stand in for camouflage in the night, and that the blaze orange was also a hint toward “hunting.” At this point there’s little doubt that Isaak did it and that he likely had no real reasons aside from him being a sadistic man

I just can't get past how many more wounds Lois had in deference to the 3 other victims. She was the only female, and she was stabbed significantly more times than the men. The last two men also had the fewest wounds, almost like they were afterthoughts and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not the intended victims. I think it had something to do with her. It could have all been in Isaak's head, but it really would seem to have something to do with her.

Id start looking for motive around the person with 16! stab wounds in the face, and 48 stab wounds total.

I did read someone posit that the owner (Robert Fakler) was having an affair (and you know how many affairs in small towns aren't big secrets). Isaak harbored some "kind" of resentment toward Robert for the affair. Because Isaak's marriage had been over for two decades and he had very limited contact with his kid (and he was not in any kind of new relationship). Why punish Robert's infidelities with death for something that has nothing to do with Isaaks divorce- I dunno. According to this angle, the other 3 murders occured coincidentally ( i.e., they happened to be there).

Usually when people "snap" they do something on impulse or rage. This was calculated and planned out for some time. However shooting someone followed by stabbing them 40+ times seems to indicate some sort of rage or personal hatred towards the victim(s). I feel there is a lot more to this story unfortunately only the deceased and Chad are the only ones who know the real reason.

That's the reason a motive is not needed to find someone guilty, as there is not always a known motive...in some cases the killer doesn't even know why he committed the murder(s).....like during a psychotic break. Many times, killings like this one are done for the "thrill" of it....crazy! Why can't taking a ride on a roller coaster be enough of a thrill? Who knows?

Always the worst for us viewers because we cant rationalize it as something that wont happen to us. When we hear about a good reason or a reason at all it makes us feel better knowing it wasnt innocent people being targeted. But this is the worst case scenario. Someone doing it.. just simply to do it, & they just happened to win the unlucky lottery..
