    I'm not convinced. Even without the Deora connections, it's a messy, unappealing design on it's own. The fact that it has Deora in the name is just pouring salt in the wound. A modern Deora inspired by recent electric concept cars would actually be a cool idea if they actually used the aesthetics and styling of them.

    The lack of a windshield just seems like an awful design choice period, and i don't think the motorbike was ever necessary to its design. If it had a windshield and two surfboards, it would feel like a better car, but its general shape is just bizarre and strange compared to the Deora 1 and 2. Although, not like its competition is better since its unlikely the Deora 1 will be re-cast and mattel has absolutely bastardized the Deora 2 with the awful retoolings

    We have another constant to go by as well. The original Dodge Deora was a heavily modified Dodge A100 pickup and the front of it was from the rear of a Ford wagon. The Deora II was a bit more custom, but the front was taken from a third gen Ford Taurus wagon's rear area, and going down the sides, it still has that same curvature as the Taurus did, but modified obviously. It's also a stretch but that curved bar over the engine could've been inspired by the roof rack of the wagon too. Given all that, the Deora III needs the front end of some kinda Ford hatchback product for the front of it, but with products dwindling, the sources would have to be the Edge, Flex, Focus (hatch), or Fiesta (hatch), maybe going overseas, a Mondeo wagon. Note: Initially said fourth gen Taurus, but I'm gonna change that to third gen due to the time period. I think the rear lights were "inspired" by the front of the third gen Taurus with its big/small separated headlights/high beams. So basically the Deora II is just a Taurus wagon turned around and heavily modified.

    It’s refreshing to hear an opinion on a hot wheels casting that most people hate, and the points made seem very solid. Great video! If only Deora III had a windshield, then I would be happy with it

    Yeah, in my view, the Deora 3 was supposed to give us basically a modernised version of the first Deora, like how cars nowadays, mostly muscle cars like the Challenger, were designed to look like modernized versions of their classic designs back in the day. And when that whole period began, we got the Twin Mill 3. I'll admit, I was pretty disappointed about the Twin Mill Gen-E, cause I found these leaked images for a *Vision GT* Twin Mill Concept, and I was hyped. Though, it did get me thinking, because its called the "Gen-E", like its a spin off, and not the "Twin Mill 4". I reckon, they could take the shell of the Gen-E, slap on the signature twin engines, and some air splitters here and there. Like comparing to the SLS AMG Black Series and the Electric Drive, like in that episode on Top Gear. Plus the Vision GT Twin Mill concept was leaked back in 2017, so...hm. The Rodger Dodger 2.0, imo, is hands down the best looking of the trio. Like even when I saw it had the classic magenta paintjob with flames like the very first Rodger Dodger, I was like MMM, that hit hard. I am iffy about it being an electric, but it still has those huge motors sticking out of the hood, just like the og...unlike the Twin Mill Gen-E...for some reason. They could just remold the motor into a combustion engine and...that would be it, nothing else to change. But other than that, I have nothing else to complain about it, it looks great as it is. I never heard of Deroa 3 even Deroa 1 until this year alone, thx to seeing a diecast hotwheels car of Deroa 3 I've kinda do like the design with it but I've seen some without a board on the back of them. The car fits with people who be into fitness and active activities + beach vibes as well if it was ever made to be realistically created. 🙂

    I don't really mind the car, it looked oddly unique and creative. After all, a car is a car and it's been to be fun to have I just heard of Deoras this year and didn't really know of how historic it was until this video.

    I really dig your opinion. All of the Deora's have very special unique design. Personally I like the Deora III's design because it represents different more of present electric beach car. The Deora III is bit lower than it's two generations. Overall it's decent looking vehicle but not what everyone's expecting.

    If they give the casting a windshield, maybe a spoiler on the back, give it a straight pickupy look on the side (cuz the side has this swooping V shape to it) and add another surfboard for that symmetrical look, I'd be digging on this.

    Honestly, I don’t entirely agree with your opinion. Your very own 3D model interpretation just shows how much wasted potential this car has to be honest. I hope we can eventually get an alternative second version retool that fills in all the gaps to make them look like the others. The final and currently only result that we got from Mattel though is just, ugh… *We were on the verge of greatness, we were this close!* But still, I’ll respect it.

  • 2 жыл бұрын

    On the contrary, I find my reinterpretation to be incredibly disrespectful to the original design. I removed almost all of its individuality in favor of repeating what’s already been established.

  • @ZacharyDietze

    @ZacharyDietze

    2 жыл бұрын

    @ I dunno man, I think I have to disagree with that as well. The Deora II follows very closely to what has been established with the original as well. Even the Twin Mill’s II and III follow the original very closely while also looking distinct enough, and Silhouette I and II, and Whip Creamer I and II, and Splittin’ Image I and II, Sweet 16 I and II, (Sweet 16 II being made by the same designer as Deora III by the way) and so on. I think your redesign of it fits that type of mentality just perfectly to be honest, and is more of what I wanted and expected: A new generation version of the car that the name is associated with. Real life cars do the same thing. (Mustangs, Corvettes, Supra’s, Vipers, Skylines, Countach’s, etc. etc.) It’s not unreasonable to assume and see what that redesign for some (If not most) is vastly superior overall. I’m not going against anyone who likes the more stripped down and simplistic design of the first model of course, I just think it takes away too much with little pay off and satisfaction. Just my opinion though. I’m a fan of cars overall and not just Hot Wheels, so the very noticeable differences irk me quite a bit. Deora II is my favorite Hot Wheels car design of all time, and I think the more filled in re-interpretation would’ve placed it in my top 10. If you want a car that’s “repeating what’s already been established” though, look no further than Nightburner. That looks like the first two Deora’s literally squashed together. It looks nice I guess, but it’s very unoriginal, unlike the sleeker model you made. I don’t find it disrespectful at all since all you did was add in the windows and a proper flatbed, with everything else down to the frame being the same, (Hey that rhymes! Lol) but hey, whatever floats your boat I suppose. I just want both versions to co-exist, like a reverse situation of Hypertruck but without a different name from Reverb. And if they *have* to give it a different name, then maybe they can call it something like a “Deora III Coupe” or “Deora III Hatchback” or whatever. Alternatively, they could just call the first one the “Deora III Convertible” or “Deora III Electric” if they want to do the opposite. In any case though, more variation and options is never a bad thing, and I’m glad you like the original! :) It’s always very interesting to see and interact with people who have different perspectives. (As long as it isn’t toxic of course over something so trivial, in which case it hasn’t been, which is unfortunately pretty rare to come by these days with many others)

    Your point's quite well put. As a concept and ideal, the Deora III is both fine and fitting, but as you yourself say you dislike it as a car, which is also likely where the overall negative opinion of the vehicle comes from. It's only too bad people don't recognize this.

    Personally i think to be one of the few who liked the idea of a windless Deora, thev only thing i save. Being it really bad proportioned in details such as the width even for a Hw, not a track car (personal point that for me save some castings) and being what i consider one of the worst Mark Jones designs (we all know what he was capable of in the early 2000s, but maybe this could have been influenced from today cost cuts, the original artwork of D3 is great) don't give me a single reason to buy it
