That last grin the Green Beret gives like, “you’ll see. God help you when you do.”
The Green Beret is thinking, "lambs to the slaughter'

Hey f it.. 😂
The green beret knew what they were going to experience.
When I saw this film the first time I remember being struck by the Green Berets thousand yard stare. This scene really moved me.

I think this is one of the dumbest movie scenes ever filmed. Just plain stupid.
Saw the movie in theater last summer. I wondered why the Green Beret was being so cold even though they’re military like him. After watching the whole movie, I thought back about the guy and understood him. He’d seen it all.
Very similar to the scene in All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) when Paul comes back home from WWI and visits the next round of eager soldiers at the recruitment classroom where he came from.
He's just mispronouncing "Phuket". He's trying to tell them that Vietnam is like Thailand.
Best scene in the film
Killer look at 2:10 - the entire movie in a microcosm.
My favorite line was Axel said, "What a fuckin' hillbilly!!" 😂😂
lucky, still has 2 legs, 2 arms and eyesight.

He wasn't wounded on the outside.
R.I.P.
When a Green Beret says ‘fuck it’ you know things are bad
What irks me is he is SF with three tours' deployed...and he's still an E-5?!
RIP
Is it true the military attire worn in that movie is compeltely wrong, with blatanta errors?
What is the name of the song at the beginning?

Look at hashmarks on his sleeve! Correct me if I'm wrong, each mark is 3 year's of service. And how many year's has he served?

Deployment bars not service stripes. At least six months' deployed per bar. So three year's minimum deployed in Vietnam. Back then, called overseas service bars and tours not deployments like today. Well, that's what they look to me.
Does anybody have information about Frank De Vore?? Great actor, great stamina and looks rockhard, why wasnt he in more movies

I guess the Green Beret thought he was part of the wedding party? Who the hell invited him? Maybe he was a "wedding crasher". "Fuck it!"

He’s in his uniform so he must have known he’d get all kinds of attention. Maybe he just didn’t care or maybe he wanted to have this interaction. Who knows how to read it. It’s a strange combination of being proud of your unit and hating the war.

@@Insecthouse Special Forces soldiers are a lot more discreet than that. They aren't called the "Quiet Professionals" for nothing. In other words, they are not "show-offs", and usually shun public recognition. I think this whole scene was just the filmmaker's fug up.

"Fuck it!" Maybe some kind of cheers in Special Forces? I don't know, and I'm pretty sure I'll never ask this guy
f*ck it
Most Vietnam war movies are garbage in the sense that they are filmed as if we already know the outcome of the war. Let’s assume this scene would have taken place around 1965/1966 this Green Beret would have been like, “Yeah, fuck commies. Get over there and kill them and bring western democracy to south east Asia!” If it were 1972/1973 he might have been more inline with this scene. It’s also the lie that Vietnam vets and those alike tell over and over again about the draft. According to the history channel and google only about 20-25% were drafted. Most Vietnam vets would have you believe they all were drafted… I say this as an Afghan Vet (wounded 5 times and two tours there) that loves Vietnam vets. These movies are garbage and they (the Vietnam vet culture) took on this whole persona…
