Long live the sound of Kay guitars and Harmony 12-watt amplifiers! Hard to duplicate that tone anymore, what with all the digital tech stuff nowadays, methinks. Ah, well, nostalgic nonetheless...

@@On_Dust Ah, yes indeed! I'd have to think it really hops off the chair when you turn it up to ten. A different sound, though, than the one here, methinks. All good, nonetheless. I myself, had a very old Vox 100-watt, and back then, it served me well until it was stolen. Ah well, good memories, if nothing else. Rock on...

@@On_Dust Yes..., well..., somewhere between 'Rocker', 'Mod', 'Two-Tone', and 'punk', in terms from a different era. It was actually a bass, during the period when we called it 'New Wave', or 'Ska-revival', or 'indie rock', or a host of other words used at the time. It was a modified Fender Precision Bass from the early seventies, and it served me well for quite a few years, and wasn't ever stolen, like the amp. We did have the benefit of growing up with quite a few older brothers who tried forming 'Garage bands' back during that 'psychedelic' era, though I was just a kid. Most of them had pretty extensive record collections, and we felt inspired to ty it ourselves, I suppose. We would pretty much try anything - 'Rock and Roll', Motown, R&B, Ska, Rock Steady, some 'Funk ' (whatever those terms may have meant at the time), pretty much anything was fair game, except the blues or jazz, which sounded dreadfully foolish to attempt, with most of the people I ever played with. Thankful to have had gear that was original stuff from names like Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Marshall, Vox, Ampeg, Sunn, Hofner, Selmer, and the Hammond B-3, not the re-issues that they make now. It was also considerably less expensive then, though still hard to afford, given the little money we did make at gigs. Gave it up for a healthier and more responsible occupation and lifestyle, for the most part. Fortunately, my memory is still quite clear for the most positive things from those days. Nostalgia can be great, but like a wise person once said: "Everything changes with time". Great chatting with you. Take care.

Rick Maske was from Bladensburg, MD; not sure where the rest of the band was from. I first met him as a sophomore at Bladensburg Senior High. Rick was cool beyond cool. When he told me that his band, The Deadbeats, had cut a 45 RPM single, I bought one immediately. I had it for years, until one day while I was sorting my 45s, I found that it was broken, completely cracked, from center to edge. If Ashleigh Ernst is still around, I hope your grandfather is alive and well. I'm VERY happy this song ended up on KZread!

Cute, playful, and perky. Nothing trashy. What a turn on. Too modest to be appreciated by today's pop culture. Reminds me very much of the love of my life. Her look, the way she dances, her playful gestures. Unfortunately she descended into schizophrenic madness while we were heading towards a life together in our youth, and though I grasped as hard as I could, I could not hold on as I watched her and my heart slowly slide away. Still hurts to this day. Anyways, who cares

the film (but not the music) comes from a mid 60s Godard film, "Vivre Sa Vie". the actress is anna karina (godard's erstwhile wife). kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqeFy5aopby_qqw.html

I have to agree with you there, Madam. By today's standards, her dancing would be very demure, but I love her playful flirting and the fact she gives nothing blatant away. It's subtle and restrained. No tits in the men's faces, just the knowing wink that we've lost sight of.
