Could you imagine if one day you went to the Hyjal gate in Winterspring and it was just open? Like with an entire fleshed-out level 60 zone with quests and a new raid? What a way to cap off Season of Discovery! Of course, I know it would be insane to do something like that without advertising it to everyone and making a big deal out of it, and dataminers would probably find out about it on day one anyway, but I can dream! Great video as always, I'd love to see more!

I think if they did something like that, without advertising it would actually be a 4D chess move, as the players would make the best advert of it and make it bigger than Blizzard could ever do.
I can never stop appreciating this genre of WoW videos that remind me of how big the game is by pointing out the small details. There's something kind of haunting about seeing these dead ends that imply that there used to be plans for expansion or questlines to get patched in, but they've been forgotten over the years. I'll never quite forget when the Molten Front was new, full of people, and really sold the feeling of being in the frontlines with everyone there, and then in a few years it's completely barren, just NPCs fighting scripted mobs to try to keep selling that feeling to people who weren't there. It's not even a dead end zone you end up in for grinding levels like Silithus used to be; you sort of have to intentionally want to go the Molten Front to end up there.

Thank you for sharing! It is definitely a weird feeling being somewhere that alone in a "Massive" multiplayer game :o

A lot of places have basically became liminal spaces for people who have played the through several expansions.
Kalimdor is just built different. The fact that not everywhere you go has to have a functional purpose is what makes classic azeroth so great. The altar of storms and grim batol would be my two others. Even things out for eastern kingdoms.

Good additions! :D
I like that you take a more philosophical approach to the game.

Ever since I was a kid I could have sworn that several of these would eventually lead to something, but they never did which is arguably more inspiring for the imagination.

Yes! Definitely ignites the imagination :D
I've always loved these areas growing up, and I am so glad to see them mentioned here! I once made the journey to the South Seas, corpse hopping as a Night Elf wisp to reach the shores. That locale, along with the Hyjal gate, the sealed Grim Batol, all gave Vanilla this beautiful sense of mystery and horizons, and wonder what could lay beyond these hidden areas. They are liminal spaces to such a wonderful fantastical degree.
@Jediwarlock

2:10 Nevermind early concept maps, the manual that shipped with the game also placed BFD at Darkshore.
Darkwhisper Gorge is totally where the last raid of SOD is going to be. The raid in the roots of the world tree below Hyjal where the legion is fighting Old God Forces leading to the story of the end patches of War Within. Just a wild shot in the dark please steal this idea developers!

When you mentioned Darkwhisper Gorge I was going to comment about how I actually visited it a lot to visit Mt. Hyjal back in the day, and then you went ahead and said it, lol. I remember I would guide people through to Mt. Hyjal and teach them how to wall-walk before Blizzard eventually fixed that exploit. I also remember swimming to that island south of Tanaris with my friend back in the day - we used the swim speed potion - died, and then ran back out to our corpse and popped another swim speed potion to reach it. I use to LOVE exploring the maps back then, you could basically go anywhere as long as you knew how to wall-walk and were willing to spend some time trying to work around the hills and mountains. Awesome video, makes me feel very nostalgic.

one quest from the hunter legion order hall leads to the tower of Eldrara. you are sent to "collect" initiate outfit pieces from the local mages to disguise yourself. you just duel someone outside the tower, never actually get to go in.

Oh cool! :) I didn't know that.
3:35 Thats something I can recommend to everyone playing classic or vanilla. Or WotLK for that matter. Few games has such good ambience as early wow. I can personally recommend Duskwood, Winterspring, Howling Fjord, Strat/Scholo and whole Lordaeron tbh. Lower that music volume, crank the ambience and just sit back and drift away 😊🖤

Hi Jedi! The lack of doodads, critters, or terrain features make Darkwhisper Gorge and the Tainted Scar utterly dreary. It's amazing how WoW can look so lively with just a handful of decorations -- and how dull it can look without it.
@Jediwarlock
Ай бұрын
Agreed! Thanks for pointing that out :)
1:31 there are moonsabers just northwest of the ruins. Kinda near where the cat spawns. I slways thought the cats in Darkshore and Ashenvale maybe feral cousins of the domesticated mounts. Like Shadumbra.

Sadly the end of the world as we know it is coming with the cata pre patch. This broke my heart back when it happen the first time The last night of Wrath before the cata systems patch we had a druid party in Moonglade and then decide to have an all Tree Druid raid on Org ( had a pally and a cpl priests got in also some how ) The sigh of 20 plus trees running across the Barrons and into Org was awesome and one of my fave memory's in all my years of this game I been doing some streams of me running around the old world in Wrath classic and checking out the places that will go away with the passing of Wrath . I know i can visit in classic era but Wrath was the peak wow for me and we will never have another like it

This was a great subject, I remember feeling exactly like you described when visiting Blasted Lands doing the warlock quest or other spots. It's sad to see that the areas that once had tons of players are now completely dead. Think about how much time developers, teams and players spent in the areas and what they experienced there. Sometimes WoW feels like a partially dead world since everything works through dungeon browsers and queues these days. I miss the time when every part of the world was still alive...

Once beautiful world of Azerot is, for me, inexorably colored and it's meaning changed by the stupidity and ineptitude of current devs that hold the reigns. Classic just hammers in the idea that no unanswered mystery will reveal it's secrets, however many mysteries may be spoiled, ruined and defiled by these prideful idiots. It's just colors every inch of Azeroth for me, and I can no longer enjoy the game.
