We will be doing monthly IL-2 events and they will be based around a dynamic campaign on the SEOW system. I am very happy that the community has hit a critical mass where we can build and populate our own projects. As one of the 3 authors of the Solomon maps I'm glad it's still getting used. It took us 9 months to build those maps, and 2 years to build the New Guinea / New Britain maps.

almost over 15 years have past, and i still think this simulation was ahead of his time, not like the ones today where you have to spend 60bucks to get a Plane. here you just had them ALL!

With this game you get almost an endless amount of content with aircraft and missions when modded, heck there’s even aircraft that most people including myself didn’t know existed or were just prototypes that are featured truly a lot to offer:)

@@villagerscout1023 the only thing that I can’t find, is a BAT (dgen) campaign for pacific torpedo bomber. and i cannot figure out how to get dcg to work. not even a scripted one. but I can’t complain to much, because it’s just to good otherwise and I can’t be bothered to make a second install with another modpack. (if someone knows a bat pacific torpedo campaign, let me know)

@@cyberfutur5000 Yeah, installs can be pretty rough at times I've had trouble getting BAT myself as of last year, I've tried looking at different tutorials on youtube but the issue with that was how outdated they can be especially if your trying to mod the Steam ver. of IL-2 1946 so, I hope there will be tutorials that are more up to date as of this year.

IL2 1946 is easily one of the best combat flight sims ever, the mission builder is excellent, and with one of the various mod packs it turns gaming into a cinematic event.

This event was such a blast. I was in the first doomed Japanese raid at Henderson and got obliterated. We eventually tried for a second run and succeeded, but got taken down by flak during the RTB. Looking forward to the SEOW campaign!

It was great fun to be part of this event, unfortunately my game crashed before I got to any action, but I'm looking forward to the next event.

If given the option, I will always choose flying and fighting over a colorful archipelago instead of an endless desert or continental forest. Maybe that is part of the reason why there is interest in the Pacific theater? It's just more pleasant.

Thank you for this. I was one of the people involved in the decelopment of SEOW and I miss it a lot. Sadly I cant play without VR anymore so 1946 is a history for me. Hopefully we get a new SEOW for the new Il2 (spoiler, he, he).

Wow, glad to see SEOW is still going strong,, flew multiple Campaigns, Malta, and Gothic line spring to mind,, Must be 20yrs ago

I'm still shocked that this hasn't got a VR mod, It's the most content rich combat game.

When I got into flight sims hardcore it was IL-2 forgotten battles. When we got ace expansion, pacific fighters, and then ultimately 1946 it was the best there was and hated having to walk away when joining the navy. I am happy to see something bringing this back. Yeah it’s fun killing migs in the F5 on the Cold War server but this is where all the best memories are still had. Pop in RS discord and see if you can sway some more to join in. Trust me I’ve tried and you definitely can count me in.

Your opening comments are exactly what I have been feeling about GB, while GB is a nice dog fighting simulation, there doesn't seem to be any real depth to it, a few bombers here and there, but only mediums or light, and a ton of fighters. The MP is just guys flying around in fighters, no combat specific mission like "escort", I just watched a video of a lone stuka pilot typing over and over as he kept getting shot down "will somebody please escort me". IL2 '46 may be making its' way back on to my computer.

Awesome. Somehow I'd never heard about 1946 til about a year ago. Such an amazing sim/game with insane mods. I'd love to find some servers to join.

As player I flew J42, Big week, Creta, Malta, Med NW, Med NE and as player&mission planner one of the last SEOW the Avelanche and Gothic line ops in my country: Italy. Lots of memories flying with pilots of DBS, VARP, 22GCT, IAF, LLV. If the beginning hour will be right for me, reserve a cockpit! Ciao from SUP_Bigans

There is no PTO WWII flight sim right now and it is the perfect place for it. Carrier warfare, great aircraft, iconic locations.

DCS and IL2 are great but both suffer from not enough aircraft types. They both add planes and there are real reasons why the addition of new aircraft is slow, but it does hold it back. Compared to the huge list of aircraft available

if you ever do BAT-jets. i;ve done some extremly complex and fun mission building for those. hard to find people willing to take to the bulkan skyzzz in il-2 but its such a wonderful engine. mabye not as high res or same fildeltiy as modern software but the scale and scope is truly amazing.

Great to see more and more MP choices turning up. Between these events, ECW, Blue Flash, Greyflag, Finnish and the new Combat box Dynamic server in development we're getting kinda spoiled.

Wonderful video. Listening to drach’s video on the zero it amazes me that most zeros had radios removed in Guadalcanal due to it being a horrible place for magnetic interference. You guys can atleast talk to each other

This is utterly amazing! I will check out the discord, I love this game so much, but have never played it online (I personally use the BAT mod and the amount of planes, maps and dgen campaings just makes this game the "best" or at least most diverse combat flight sim for singleplayer (imo). I do like myself some great battles or Rise of Flight, (I don't have flying circus, because of the high price tag, yet) but 1946 is always the one I come back to. It makes me really happy to see this game getting a new breeze of life :)

after playing WWII online lately with the graphics they have, and now that i have trackIR instead of using VR, i might reinstall 1946 for things like this, esp cuz we get pacific stuff

Does/did anyone play this in vr? Is there a working setup for vr in 1946? Is vorpX the only option?

Oh if I could play this In vr it would be perfect. Low system requirements for the peasantry vr people (like myself).

Guess it's time to dust off the P-39 again...aside from flying Kokoda track. P.S. for me the P-40E is not an upgrade over the P-39D/P-400.

That's because the P-40E wasn't an upgrade over the early P-39s in real life either. Running the same engine and manifold pressure both are probably equally as good.😉

@@martijn9568 Yeah, the P-40 is a bit more forgiving in it's stall characteristics though. The P-39 has to be flown very smoothly and within it's limits, and let's not even talk about it's spin characteristics... ;) I love it though and usually I am much more successful with it than the P-40E...the P-40E and I just don't get along well. ;)

So I have gone through the installation process 5 times now, and it still crashes whenever I change my resolution to fit my screen. It's 1920x1080, I've selected OpenGL, and it just dumps me to desktop. No error message or anything.

I have CLOD, I have tried multiple times to play it but the UI is a disaster in that game. I can't seem to bind things in a way that works for me.

It's great that you're discovering the wonders of IL-2 1946 and spreading it to others, but claiming to be responsible for reviving a game that people never stopped playing in the first place is just beyond arrogant. If you want to recruit veterans of the game itself to boost your server numbers, that is not the way to go about it.

The channel's audience is really focused on DCS and IL-2 Great Battles. The population in both those games have long written this game off. As we are trying to leverage the channel to help populate the server, it would make sense to orientate the language toward those people.
