    I don't think it's a good world view to adopt seriously. It's a fun idea, but if you applied it to your life/reality that could really warp your values and make you depressed, or uncaring. I remember hearing people were threatening suicide on the simulation subreddit so some people do believe in this stuff.

  • @Pystoria

    @@Brubser_Jr_Reloaded I agree completely. It's like any other unfalsifiable worldview, but it also falls into its own traps (like how many simulations deep are we, there are examples of time dilation and other things that show the laws of reality are not 20/20, Occam's Razor, why can we even consider we might be in a simulation, etc.)

    Yeah. That dude's son experiencing comprehension of a good dad is a huge sign of growth and this fucker decided it meant he's living in a simulation and his son is now a learning child but a line of code. That man should never have access to his son again. That kid has likely heard horrifying stories of abusive parents and wanted to make sure his Daddy know how good he is, how nice he is, and how the kid is glad his dad is a good parent.

    This and that whole NPC theory (when its taken at face value and not as a meme) are ok, mayebe even neat thought experiments and concepts but kinda dangerous in the mind of the wrong person. It could probably lead to 'main character syndrome' at best, or complete dehumanization of everyone but yourself at worst.

    I bet it's the same kind of people who believe that children "don't understand" anything

  • @brokenfoxproductions
    @brokenfoxproductions8 ай бұрын

    The stuff around the eight-minute mark really just makes me feel like people don't understand children. I vividly remember being a child and having a lot of understanding and like adult knowledge that adults just didn't think I knew, and I felt like I wasn't allowed to talk about around adults because they would think I was like a bad kid, and I would only talk about stuff that I thought was mature or on My level with my friends so that my parents didn't think that I was a bad kid who was more mature than I was supposed to be. I think that explains a lot of the whole kids being weird phenomena but whenever it comes to kids saying that like oh I liked it whenever I was a grown-up they are probably pretending or talking about like dreams or things they've seen on TV. Kids have weird imaginations.

  • @Nekoszowa

    @Nekoszowa

    8 ай бұрын

    It's just the thinking that "children don't understand anything" becoming for some reason more and more popular. And the same people who don't teach their kids to for example not tug on the cat's tail because the child "won't understand" reasoning behind it. Just adults being bad parents, that's all.

  • @melonlad3684

    Is this why neurodivergent kids are seen as weird? Because we don’t pick up on those kinds of cues so we tend to not hold back a lot. Y’know what I’m hearing it since I’m reading my own words.

    I think at some point adults just completely forget being children, I don't know, maybe it's generational trauma or something, but it always surprises me just how much people just don't understand children or refuse to understand them. Even people supposed to be professionals like school counselors, teachers, child psychologists - they often just don't see children as people with complex thoughts, even in a very young age. It's just sad.

    I think the reason why the Hat Man is such a common hallucination is due to so much media portraying shady/dangerous figures with a hat and a trench coat. I swear I've seen this type of character in so many cartoons as well as seeing something similar in a picture of a sign warning to look out for shady characters.

I believe that the fact that many people at least have heard of him, they expect to see him (yk at the times people say they should expect to) and therefor, they do; sorta like how after watching a horror movie you start to see creepy things where there shouldn't be, just because your mind subconsciously learns that a shadow in the corner must be a demon.

Mind you, I formed this opinion in 6th grade and may have willing on occasion ignored further nuance that Plato might have intended one to see. Simulation Theory: Reality can be simulated using math, the construct humanity invented in order to simulate reality, therefore reality must be a mathematical simulation. In much the same way we can conclude that because trees can be simulated in a chalk drawing, all trees must be made of chalk.

    @@luxj.9451 your explanation is based on the fact that we're living in a simulation, something you can't prove. Also, you're also presuming that if we were in a simulation, it would be with a code that we could understand and that we would be able to manipulate it, as instances of classes or of objects inside the simulation. There's nothing scientific about your explanation. It's all speculation ("no clip through reality", "immortality"...) that rests on speculation. Your comparison with oil is a comparison fallacy. Oil is something part of our world and is something we can observe directly, if I was confident that oil didn't exist, you could just show me the liquid. Whereas the "simulation" would be the whole world so entirely different thing. Finally, this theory stems from the fact "tOdAy CoMpUtErS pOwErFuL, sO wE liVe In SiMuLaTiOn". First, this means that you could build a computer able to not only contain the data, but also simulate not only everything that we know but everything that we don't AND everything that we don't know we don't know, which is, again a HUGE presumption. Also, it's possible that the computer is in a whole other technology, outside from our universe. So we don't know. I agree with you, "if we find the code of reality" (Matrix is a nice movie btw), we coukd change some stuff, the same way that if I find Poseidon's trident I can manipulate oceans and seas :)

    My "backrooms feeling" from when I was a kid was when my younger brother used to have evening swimming classes at a different school, and me and my mom would sit and watch for a while before picking him up. I'd usually get bored and just go off for an aimless walk around the school's hallways. And because it was evening they were completely empty and silent except for the sound of my own footsteps on the carpets. And I used to actively bask in the eerie, exposed but cosy feeling I'd get from these explorations.

    It's particularly ridiculous because a cursory investigation on it reveals human memory is extremely fickle and suggestionable. We don't actually remember anything, we have a very messy system of data recollection that we need to recontextualize on the spot every time we try to "remember". You don't know how your room looks like without the context that it is your room and you could have it described truthfuly and not realize it's your room until you're given context ques that make you think of your room.

    I’ve been really into stuff like the Matrix Theory and the Multiverse ever since I started having lucid dreams about other universes. I think it’s safe to say what I’ve “experienced” in those dreams have shaped a lotta my personal and philosophical beliefs. Nothing and everything is real at the same time, but even in the endless infinity that is the Omniverse, your choices and lives matter. Under normal circumstances, you only get to experience one universe and one timeline per lifetime, so try to make it count.

    Hatman is one of my favorites entity/cryptids since he is so interesting and well I had personal experiences with him as a kid, as well my parents (especially my mom), and my little sister, but unlike my parents and sister it wasn't malicious in nature towards me. He did touched my arm and shoulder trying to get my attention but as a kid I shrugged his hand off as I wanted to sleep and told the hatman off saying "let me sleep dummy, I don't care." and I never seen him again but apparently he was evil natured with my mom and sister and often terrorized them, more so my mom by whsipering to them, gripping them tightly, and just made them afraid. My mom says he is a demon that brings evil/bad energy or absorbs bad energy from people as he followed my mom through her life and she had a very abusive homelife. She even said she seen him during the day and near my siblings and my rooms, watching us sleep.

    About the nihilism one, when I play a game like Skyrim or baldurs gate and quick save over and over to reset my choices over the course of a couple days, I begin to catch myself about to do or say really dumb or dangerous things irl just to see what happens and then I remember that I can’t reload my save and feel like I dodged a bullet

    Hate it when people compare the backrooms to SCPs. The backrooms are incoherent and rambling. Just random rooms and random entities, quality control is shite so many pointless or just plain stupid levels

    Bioshock 1 seemed to have anti piracy method attached to it aswell. In Arcadia, when you got to an office where there was a safe and you inserted code, instead of getting key to open a door to new area and restore plantlife, the safe of instead of empty meaning you couldnt progress the game any longer.

    Not the hat man per se but I've seen a shadow person vanish into shadows after clawing the bedroom door with its nails. It wasn't sleep paralysis because I was able to move during all that and other people in the house also heard the sound of nails hitting the door (it was really loud). Those things creep me out.

    Regarding simulation theory, I sometimes think about it and imagine that if we're ever capable of fully grasping reality, to the extent that there are no more theories left to prove, it will be the end of us. We'll collectively go insane as the curious species we are with nothing left to discover. That or we'll ignore the truth which is an insanity many of us are already well acquainted with.

    I actually managed to accidentally trigger the softlock on OoT with a GameShark in the 90s, when I was a kid. I'm not sure which code caused it bc I had multiple codes activated. It was the first time something like that happened to me in a game.

    NO GOD DAMN WAY!!! When i was about 6 or 7 i remember seeing at around midnight a man with a trenchcoat and fedora leaning in my doorway. He looked kind of like the Ah-Ha take on me video, very sketch-like. I remember him smoking a cigarette too but it just might have been me misremembering the "sketchlike fuzz" that surrounded them. I didnt feel scared though, it was pretty cool and kind of comforting? The way i described him to my mom she said it sounded like her dad who was a sailor back in the 40s and 50s (who smoked a lot) we just assumed grandpa was saying hi :) i had no idea this was a wider phenomena.

    Idk what the hat man is, but it's 100% real. I was walking home from my ex gfs house, and saw him standing in the trailer park next to my house, starting into my yard. Standing head and shoulders above the SUV next to him. He caught my attention out of the corner of my eye as I was walking by because of how insanely tall he was. I started at him for solid 20-30 seconds, backlit by the streetlamp. Wide brimmed hat wearing an ankle length coat. A 3D humanoid shadow. I've never seen a person that tall before or since. I rushed home as soon as the thought occurred to me just how quickly and easily anything that big could trear me apart. After getting inside I looked through a side window to find he was long gone. I've told this story dozens of times, but figured I'd share it here while I'm binging your content. Good stuff btw 👌

    I think it’s interesting that the Hat Man shares a lot with the norse god Oden. A wanderer with a wide brimmed hat and a long cloak, or trench coat for the Hat Man. Seeing as how they both sporadically appear to humans, I like to think that the Hat Man is just Odin with a modern wardrobe
