It's women as well. I can give you a list of women, teachers, who've been found guilty of sexual misconduct with students. I even know one. Female predators aren't as well known but they exist and there are more of them that you could imagine. Child predators gravitate to where the children are, including women. Those predators don't all wear trench coats. Some of them wear dresses and have even had children. Trust is important. Blind trust is naive.

finding out how many pedo's were involved in entertainment media that I probably enjoyed many years ago is fucking up my brain. it's pretty shocking that there aren't more preventative measures in place to help the kids. having a great set of parents seems to be best way to mitigate the risk of kids being victimized.

It is shocking, but we shouldn't be surprised. As another commenter has said, and to reuse the words of John Dillinger, predators go where the children are. This means you'll find them in the schools, and in the scouts and things like that, in Hollywood working on children's programming, any profession that works with young people and young children You're going to have predators that try for those careers to be around their prey.

In the 1970s Johnny Carson made a lot of jokes on The Tonight Show, about the Hollywood Casting Couch. Decades later I stumbled on a photo online, of Oprah Winfrey having lunch with her pal Harvey Weinstein. She knew. Then the final puzzle piece, of why the cover-up? I was watching Mel Brooks being interviewed by Jimminy Glick...aka Martin Short. I could sniff the stench of this from the mid-West, 50 years ago. They knew.

That's why governments have labour standards. There's no really good reason why child acting should be legal in the first place. Even if there's no abuse it could still be too hard on most kids. Too bad there's no research on outcomes (that I've seen).

From Hollywood to Broadway, the entire industry is a minefield that no one passes through without taking damage. I have many relatives in this industry and all of them have stories that involve abuse of this sort. You don't know who you can trust, and the ones you think you can trust find themselves at the behest of those whom you can't trust; you are going to find yourself compromised no matter what, even under the best of circumstances. Part of the problem is that there are so many actors vying for so few jobs, so many writers and directors competing for so few green light opportunities. The desperate will endure any kind of abuse to grasp at that slim chance.

Any adult make or female who works with kids who has no sexual reasons for doing so, the last thing they want to do is be around those kids outside of their work. My wife is a primary school teacher & has been for over 25 yrs. She is loved by the kids she teaches. The amount of them that range from adults to teenagers who want to praise her & thank her for her patience in learning these mostly disadvantaged kids to learn to read & write is unbelievable. Honestly the live she gets from her ex pupils is off the scale. She has been asked by her employers to go for promotions hundreds of times. But she's happy doing what she does. But by christ if she can avoid these kids who she really likes & has a helluva lot of time for outside of work is laughable. She'll stay away from places she knows they are. If any are near our house, she panics saying I don't want them knowing we live here. Adults don't want to be constantly around kids who aren't their own. Usually in 99% of cases if they do, it because of their perversions.

My parents tried desperately to make me a child star when I was very young. They took me to auditions for M&Ms commercials, I was on Bozo the Clown, they tried to get me into Nickelodeon, but I had crippling stage fright and knew what the red dot on the cameras meant, and I froze every time. I think that saved me from a life in Hell-ywood. My dad, however, was furious. He practically disowned me after several failed attempts to get rich off me. He was physically there throughout my childhood, but he might as well not have been.

It seems that the collective moral compass in Hollywood is way off, which makes me distrust anyone working there about anything other than a specific work they have done. It must be one of the weirdest communities on earth, and no-one is calling them out on it.

brett, you have the script, team up with mel gibson, and get some cameras on it, naturally you can be the exe-producer of the project, mel is mostly there for artisitic producer and director, the down side how would it be like that movie that came out about child slavery ???? or is it that, that egg has already been cracked and its old news//shock value, drama has lost that pull on a story

I went out with a girl one time and she was a certainty as a Cat Walk Model. Very pretty and she was completely uninhibited. She said to me when I first had Sex with her that her name is, 'Noah' in the Thai Language and that she studied Krabi. I use to go to Krabi Beach for Holidays. The 007 Island scenes for James Bond were just nearby. A lot of people liked to stay at Koh PhiPhi, especially the people from Yale;) Mr Leonardo di Caprio stayed on some of the islands including Koh PhiPhi. It's a lovely place if you can get a reservation. They said I could stay there anytime:)

Granting sexual favours for help with one's career. For example, having sex with the director so he will consider you for a role in his production. Considered by many to be a common practice in Hollywood, especially historically.
