The Cure was one of my older daughters' favorites. She even dyed her hair black and wore it in long strings. I didn't care for them back in the 80's. She passed away in a car accident in 1987 at the age of 18, a senior in high school. I miss her and her music. I would just like to add, please be sure that you all buckle up. Not doing so cost me my big girls life.

I was in college when this song came out. I remember dancing with my girlfriend countless times as we listened to it. We were young, in love and everything was possible. I eventually lost that girl as life sent us down different paths. Years later, I got the news that she passed away from cancer. Every time I hear this song, I go back to dancing with her with this song framing the moment. It's a perfect memory I hope to keep with me for the rest of my days. Peace.

In the 80s I was there, a rebellious teenager. I've never really liked New Wave bands and music. Today at 56 years old, after hearing this song on the radio, found it with Shazam, searched it on KZread, I find myself remembering my old years. I am here as many others do, looking for something, for a loved one, for love, for memories of the past, for regret, for joy and happiness. I hope you all find what you are looking for.
There’s just something that makes you feel so warm inside about the cure. One of the greatest bands ever for sure and Robert Smith is legendary

That I'm in love with you? One of the most beautiful alternative love songs in the last 37 years. It's so timeless it's iconic and an absolute masterpiece.
I remember standing outside of a restaurant downtown, balancing on the curb and waiting for some friends to arrive when this song started playing over the outdoor speakers. I started singing along (because how can you not?) and a stranger walked past me and started singing it with me. He was smiling wide and said "Isn't this the greatest song ever!?" and I was like, "YES. YES IT IS." Every time I hear it now, I think about that moment. No it won't. It's too complex for today's ADHD crowd with the attention span of a goldfish. If it doesn't have the same 3 chords looping over and over while the singer sings the lyrics in a monotone (it's literally one note in most songs these days), then it won't be a hit.
@maxvermeij1779
2 жыл бұрын
@@NostalgiaforInfinity I think that's a bit unfair to some of the amazing artists that are finding success today. Even thought it's a different genre, someone like Kendrick Lamar has made one of the most instrumentally rich and complex albums of the past 30 years in To Pimp A Butterfly, filled with jazz chords and very technical delivery, and still found a ton of mainstream success. I understand people are always nostalgic for different times, but blinding yourself to all new music because of a preconceived notion that it's repetitive and dumb is just completely unfair
@davidsmith6355

@garry_wshld

@@maxvermeij1779 Seeming complexity of music doesn't raise its worth. In musical terms Just Like Heaven is a pretty simple song and you can even hear all the instruments and parts they play if you really want to. But Nostalgia for Infinity said something different. He obviously didn't talk about overcomplicated and overproduced music but about mainstream and mummble rap. Check out the recent top songs and most viewed music videos and you will see that he's actually right about that. Now, I believe there are still some talented artists but they do go by unnoticed. One of the most talented songwriters of our time is Ron Sexsmith and no one know about him. So if this song was released today it's hard to say it would have been noticed. And it surely won't be among hits you hear on radio etc.
By far, their best song. So many layers. So much intensity, emotion, magic. All of the instruments, writing, lyrics, harmonies, and melodies are composed in such a brilliant and magical fashion. The Cure are timeless.

I’m always looking on here for all of my friends from the good old days, when music was worth dancing to! 😢
I wouldn't call myself a Cure fan as I don't know many of their songs, but this is a brilliant song.

An ex-girlfriend used to sing this song to me when we went out to the movies on weekends, many years ago. Now it's been a long time since we broke up, and every time I listen to 'Just like heaven' I remember her, singing to me. Wherever she is, I hope she's okay.

Lyrics: | "Just Like Heaven" - The Cure. | Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick The one that makes me scream, she said The one that makes me laugh, she said And threw her arms around my neck Show me how you do it And I promise you, I promise that I'll run away with you I'll run away with you Spinning on that dizzy edge I kissed her face, I kissed her head And dreamed of all the different ways I had to make her glow Why are you so far away, she said Why won't you ever know That I'm in love with you That I'm in love with you? You, soft and only You, lost and lonely You, strange as angels Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream You're just like a dream Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes I find myself alone, alone Alone, above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me You, soft and only You, lost and lonely You, just like Heaven. END.

Anny Skod Me too! It's one of the first songs by them I listened to when I was 10-I'm almost 15 now and I can play it on piano. When I was like, 12-13 I only enjoyed it but now I get a rush of feelings that make me cry with overwhelm. And when someone asks me what's my favorite song, this song is the first one to pop in my mind. It's just a very beautiful song and I'm so happy I know it exists. And the piano solo at 2:10 is just… I'm in love with this song.

Growing up as a teen in the 80's, I never really liked the Cure, I was mainly into the pure synth pop music. My roommates in high-school LOVED the cure and played the all the time. Now that I am re-listening to all those songs from back then, I feel as if my heart is going to explode, I simply *LOVE* every single song, I feel so lucky because it's like I'm hearing it for the first time

Takes me back to the days of my sweet childhood. Oh how I wish I could return back there again...happy easy-going carefree innocence... watching shows like Knight Rider, Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. Those days were "just like heaven".😌

She didn´t pass 50 years old. - this was one of her favorit songs. Just Like Heaven - I never forget it when she spoke about them! I am confident that you are happy and in a good place wherever you are, hermanita!! TQM!

I've been listening to it since it was released in 1987. There's no denying that the best songs are from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The question is, what will they be hearing 37 years from now? I'll be dead... Thankfully.

They will find this song. It’s timeless.
Robert tiene mas de 60 y en vivo suena igual que en un cd , capo que hermosa voz ,estas en la cima junto a los grande del rock.
One of the things that I always appreciated abut The Cure is that their lyrics were legitimately poetry. Lots of imagery and metaphor and symbolism.

I never got to see The Cure live but it's always been a dream. Their music gets me up in the morning & I don't hate the world as much. Advice to anyone: as soon as you wake up, have the cure on your playlist & dance like it's the end of the world. I have BPD & CPTSD & this is the only thing that gives me the motivation to even get out of bed 🖤
For some reason, I cry like a little baby when I listen to this song. It triggers so many different emotions in me that are so deep within me that I can't even understand it. It's overwhelming but it's comfortably overwhelming. It makes me feel just like a human being, fragile but with capacity to love someone, it's so great that I even don't know how to express this. Thank you, Robert...

My mom passed away of cancer when I was 14 months old. I was always told how deep she was into the punk & new wave scene in the 80s. I listen to this song and I swear I can feel her sitting next to me. Its so strange to know that I'll meet her one day even though, through myself, I've known her all my life.
