I remember in the 90s we could afford to hate the 80s because we (still) had so much great music ourself. In the 00s I actually started to apreciate even the most hated 80s bands because there was not much left to love. Nowadays, I'm panicking because there's only a handful great musicians left and I cherish EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! I'd like to pet them, feed them and make sure they keep warm and cozy to avoid colds and, well, Covid... I want them to become very, very old and be around as long as possible!

Slightly Bonkers - Ok. You love The Cure, right? Jeffrey P is also a fan, who is expressing his love for Robert Smith’s guitar playing (see: I could go on for ages). It took 20 years for The Cure to be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame, which kinda suggests, as Trent Reznor said in his induction speech. they were underrated. It was therefore unnecessary to say Jeffrey P was ignorant. #benice

Slightly Bonkers - mate, chill. I was using reported speech (the tenses usually shift back one tense when you report what someone else has said). My main concern is why people feel obliged to attack each other online, hence the hashtag. I know rock / metal guitarists who adore Smith’s musicality, harmony and composition, and I totally understood the “...I could go on for hours...” part. Ironically, you seem to think Jeffrey P underrates Smith et al. I get that you are a fan too. We have this in common. Accentuate the positive - like a goth 😂 However, it’s not a case of doing what's right It's just the way I feel that matters Tell me I'm wrong I don't really care

When I hear this guy do an interview I'm always impressed at his understanding of his place in the music and how it's presented. RS comes across as an intelligent professional besides the obvious of being an iconic musician from my generation. Humility, joy, gratitude...these aren't emotional expressions most "stars" can authentically express and I'm not talking about the words used. This is what he says and means while telling his story and he never seems anything but sincere. It comes out of every sweaty pore of this man. Thank you RS

Last night I enjoyed The Cure for the second time in my life and it was a very emotional night here in Oslo. I felt in love with The Cure almost 40 years ago in Chile...along with The Smiths, they are the soundtrack of my life. I do love Moz & Robert.

I’m a musician and I have been since I was 19 I’m 50 now and I must tell you getting old as a singer really sucks. You get away with so much as you are a young good looking lad but age is so cruel. So being a frontman when you feel you don’t deserve to be there really messes with your head. The crowds are great they love you because you have talent luckily otherwise I doubt people would watch. What I’m getting at is people must understand how hard it is for an ageing musician we put so much pressure on ourselves so to have an extra stress like ageing creep up on you really can bring a weaker person down. We drink and party so hard I’ve lost so many friends just lost our guitarist Daz in December last year 2018 he was only 44 but he was living like a 22 year old. I’ve had to give up alcohol completely and the drugs well they are also out. You must make the right choices. The fans want to see you party hard on stage but it becomes a real problem. You always have the guys who can still do it but they are rare. Old Lemmy was a legend smoke and glass of whiskey in hand he lived a long and great life. Sorry I have rambled on. I was just proud to see Robert still Up performing live. To see my hero’s ageing but still doing their jobs better then most new so called musicians today. The state of new music is an embarrassment I am so glad I have had the chance to grow up with so many great bands. Rock on.

Leslie Barker : great 👍 post mate. It’s simply ridiculous that, in this facile society, we are judged harshly upon erroneous things such as the clothes we wear & the age we are. Getting older brings wisdom which I doubt the young could cope with as they, and others, seem to believe that knowledge & awareness are great things to aspire to.......If they only knew! Also, congrats on being substance free. I’m approximately 10 x years off, later this year. May your luck be bountiful & may you be happy & fulfilled. Mistress Bex 💋
