The Crazy Mountains

Спорт

Full Story: bit.ly/TheCrazyMountains
Last season Jeremy Jones, Robyn Van Gyn, and Mark Carter ventured deep into Montana's Crazy Mountains on a multi-day, foot-powered snowboarding expedition. In this brand new short film, take a deeper look at the mission that was originally showcased in 2018's film Far Out.

I really appreciate this edit, particularly around the storm section -- witnessing their decision making process and how tentative and respectful these three are is a good message. It would have been easy to cut it in a way that sent the message "huge storm = go shred pow," when there are so many more factors to consider to ski/board responsibly. Nice work TGR crew!

When I was 11 my grandpa told me a story about the crazy mountains and since we live in Livingston I see them every day and I’ve always wanted to go there AND I WILL ONE DAY, it seems so beautiful and mysterious I would love it.

I’ve been to some crazy places but the best is hands-down Montana,. I was up there doing some geology work in October in the tobacco root mountains, and it snowed 12 inches on us overnight so The next day when we were out hiking up miles to the Ridge it took me probably twice as long because I couldn’t believe the faces I was seeing in the things you could ride in literally the middle of nowhere.. definitely untapped amazing touring

In the aerial shot of the camp (6:00) you can see 3 sleds parked next to camp, so the lines are human powered but all the camping/logistics seem to be supported by sleds. Disappointing but I believe someday we'll see solely human powered winter expedition style splitboarding trips from industry professionals and hopefully sooner rather than later.

These are the best of the best, was just saying that we will get to that point someday and that exploring these remote places without the need for machines is an exciting frontier for the sport. And look forward to professionals setting the bar for how to sustainable explore these remote places and beautiful places. In the same way seige style mountaineering has been replaced with "light and fast" I expect a similar evolution in how we approach the mountains for splitboarding objectives.

@@micahreese982 Totally agree but 50lbs on your back and 80lbs in your sled is not uncommon on Denali. That's the advantage of sleds when compared to just carrying weight on your back but obviously you have to make route finding decisions that are compatible with pulling an 80lbs sled.
