it simply comes down to the fact that Jerry did not want to cede any power to Belichick, Harbaugh, or any other high profile coach available. He's clearly not as serious about winning championships anymore if he's concerning himself with McCarthy's winning percentage in the regular season. They will be back here again a year from now and we'll be having this same exact conversation for like the 30th year in a row.

I think the entire reasoning is and has always been "Jerry wants the lions share of credit". Jerry DIDNT get the "lions share" of the credit back during the 90s run, so he fired Jimmy Johnson. And has since basically only hired B-level coaches (minus Parcels). Had he hired Belicheck or Harbaugh, and they won SB, it would be same as the 90s: Belicheck/Harbaugh would get the lions share of the credit and that hurts Jerry's feelingz.

As a Cowboys fan of 34 years. This is the first time I'm legit considering rooting for a different team. I've been complaining beyond belief about Jerry and how this organization moves and its so frustrating that other organizations that shows the will to win is what I want in my team. Cowboys = Insanity/Complacency = im disgusted

Not sure where you're from, but Cowboy fans have been complaining about Jones for many years. Since Jimmy's departure, actually. He (Jones) had the worst drafting record in the league. There were seasons that Dallas had the least number of starting players from the draft in the whole league. Not until recently (last 5 years or so) that the drafting has significantly improved (Parsons, Diggs, Lamb, Bland). Jerry has turned the draft over to his son, Steven.

Prescott had his best year as a QB and the team went 12-5 to win the division. Both he and McCarthy are in the final year of their contracts and Dak has a no trade, no franchise stipulation in his. This was the only move the Cowboys could make. It's pointless to bring in a new coach and start a new system in Dak's final year. I hope they bring in a running back and run stopping linebackers.

I know steelers roster has been weaker the last few years but people forget how good that offense was in '16-'18, they scored at will. Based on the coverage, Get Up and ESPN don't know there is any other team in the NFL. If the Cowboys win that is all they talk about. If they lose, the Cowboys are all they talk about. I've never seen so much time given to a team that hasn't produced anything for decades - not anything beyond the regular season. When they lose, it's never because the other team was really good. It is because the Cowboys played badly. Jerry Jones must be paying off Greeny or the network because, Bulletin, there are other teams in the NFL that are soooo much better than the Cowboys, but they get no respect from the Get Up crew.

If Jerry brought in Jim Harbaugh to coach this team, Cowboys would have been SCARY. Now, we know what's gonna happen: they will win anywhere from 10 to 12 games, they will MAYBE win a playoff game, and then they will get bounced. Terrible decision by Jerry Jones to keep McCarthy

They need to stop talking about super bowl aspirations if Jones is happy with three 12 win seasons.

Jerry wants Yes men as his HC. It's why he never got along with Jimmy Johnson. Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, Mike McCarthy are all passive and won't confront Jerry and tell him to beat it and let them coach and win. The best coach for the Cowboys right now would likely be Harbaugh because we know he'd clash with Jerry but they'd win. As a niners fan though, happy they're keeping McCarthy 👌 💯.

We’re settling because no coach worth his own salt wants to deal with Jerry making all the decisions when he’s been wrong for 28 years. What other GM would still have his job with the results that we have had?

As a Steelers life long fan I love Mike Tomlin but I'm surprised he's staying. Not because he will get fired, but because he would do the Andy Reed thing and choose a change of scenery. My guess is Tomlin wouldn't agree to go to Dallas because he knows that Jones would never give him control. ("Now Mike I know you want to bench Dak this week but I can't let you do that....")

Dan Quinn was absolutely horrible in that Green Bay game. We Cowboys fans are not missing nothing with him being gone.

So now , if you want Dallas to ever win a Super Bowl , you need to 1) boycott buying tickets to the games and do not buy merchandise. Stop giving Jerry your hard earned money . Force him to sell the team . 2) root for Dallas to lose as many games as possible next year, because if McCarthy wins 12 games again, he’ll make the playoffs. If he wins a wildcard game and then loses the divisional round, Jerry will give him a raise and a 5 year extension .

Normally, I would think with that whole, "But who do you replace him with?" as so often people are ready to fire coaches when there's no one of note available. But uhh... Belichick? Bruh...
