We are so back
The 9cm2 housing is not the limit. It’s the turbine size. I made 560whp on a 57/67 on that same turbo. You need a 62, 64 or 67mm turbine in that housing.

been missing these videos! glad to see you back. also if you're going to film the maxxecu wiring, go into as much detail as possible. i'm in the process of building a b230 and running it with a maxxecu, but the wiring is kind of a turn off for the entire build for me, simply because no one really goes in depth into that segment.

Very wild! The clipped exhaust wheel and new manifold really slowed down that spool.

I think the turbo is your problem. Get a HX40 minimum #16 housing and see again.

I run klrT3 shaft and it starts hit boost at 2500rpm and peak 546wnm att 4500rpm. Borg warner b2g 57mm turbine.
Did you set the clearance in addition to the lash caps? can't see the comments saying you did.
What's the largest injector you can put on a stock EFI fuel rail? I would think at 2200lbs you might have a restriction from the stock rail/FPR

Lots of interesting redblock information here even though it didn't go how you wanted. I've got a KLR T2 for mine and now I'm wondering if it will throw the caps. What's your rpm limit?

Do you mean break the lash caps? Just harden them by literally hardening them. Heat them up until they glow red and dump in motoroil, then cleanup and use.
Did you degree the cam to spec. you should have from 2.5 to 2.7 mm of lift on the intake valve on TDS. it will spool very slow if you run it straight up🤔

We tried like 8 seperate runs making small adjustments to the cam gear each run and this setting made the most power everywhere in the graph. Advancing the cam past 0 just lost power everywhere in the graph

@@driftsnlifts okay, mine made the most power at about 5 degrees advanced, running a twin scroll manifold with an Hx40 and a plenum intake.

Car sounds great man. What cylinder head are you running, stock 530/531 or is it ported? I’m thinking if it’s stock that could be why you’re seeing diminishing power in the top end even with the better manifold. The exhaust side of these heads really don’t flow all that great and I’m guessing based on the power and boost level that it’s a factory casting. Glad you’re posting again!

Is there a reason for why you don't have an electric fan on the radiator? Doesn't it remove some resistance from the engine?

I missed y'all forsure. I'm not sure I want to compete in this thing as it's kind of the car I'm hoping to still be mint in the garage when I'm old. Maxx ecu is on the way for the gold car and post haste is gonna help me get it going over the next few weeks here. I think it'd be badass to rip some grassroots comps with a spicey non turbo b230. We are finally gonna get to see the big valve 531 with the kg9 camshaft ( 324° duration 😂) in action. The itb setup will be making a comeback aswell so I'm very excited!

Just find a vx3 and have them remachined. Volvo original cams are very high quality and will always work well, aftermarket are hit and miss.

So you never installed lash caps? I have a kl racing t3 about to go in with some double valve springs.

This was the first time putting lashcaps in one of my setups. Not sure what I could've done differently to make this not happen. The valve springs are upgraded in this head also

Do you know for sure how much pressure you're getting from those? With the cam getting ate up, it really makes me wonder what all was going on in that head.

If your springs are very strong and you're revving far you want to literally harden the lash caps by heating them up and dumping in oil. It'll help a little bit with high pressure.

I was getting a bit worried that with your new girlfriend you might not be into drifting Volvos anymore, good to see you were just busy on another build! btw that cam might be tuned for higher RPM but would your head and stock intake manifold be able to keep up with it?
