    Been waiting for this video ever since I heard they were paving the infield, those tandems with Josh were absolutely nutty. Real bummer that your engine fucked up at the end though. Keep that savory volvo gravy flowing!

    One of the many Volvo things I learned on your channel, engine auxilliaries don't like high revs, like, at all 🤣 At least you didn't detonate your engine. Maybe instead of Toyota ITB's you could go with some chunky sidedraft carbs? They seem to work without self destructing, alternatively some Jenvey's. N/A build without an oil cooler isnt always ideal. you can get Mocal oilcooler for Volvo's (which I only know because 4A-GE's have the same oil filter union bolt) pretty cheap, well worth the investment. You can probably also upgrade the oil pump?

    I'm going with some huge 48 sidedraft carbs, Dellorto DHLA's. Problem is, they are very expensive and it's hard to find people who can properly tune them.

    Hey bro I'm not sure if maxx ecu can do this but on my link setup I run a bosch oil/temp combo sensor with failsafe's setup by my tuner. So if the oil pressure tanks or the temp gets too high the car will cut power, this saves the guesswork. I do grip trackdays so for me the brakes give up first haha. I had a similar thing happening to you at my first trackday with my setup and it was the factory sensor wire grounding on the block haha I shit myself big time haha.

    i think its probebly oil slush in the pan they do have some issues with this i noticed the light comes on during left turns

  • @dt8692
    @dt86922 ай бұрын

    do you think it could be a oil pan pickup/pressure issue? light seemed to be flickering on mostly on the left handers so maybe it's starving itself?

  • @retrorevolution6534

    that's what I thought, I think this track, as awesome as it looks is throwing the oil to one side for too long around that first big sweeping corner or 2 then suddenly sloshing it all to the other side on the left turns and vice versa all near the limiter for a longer time than usual compared to the other track and indonesia etc. I think some baffles in the sump or a dry sump system might help

    What's the oil return like on those redblock engines? Some engines will pump all the oil into the head if you rev them too high and starve the pickup because the oil doesn't return to the sump fast enough. For Nissan RB20/25 engines people will often drill a hole in the head somewhere, usually the back, and tap it for A/N fittings to run an extra drain hose to the sump.

    I watched a garage 54 video the other day where they made a see through sump/window in block and then overfilled the oil to see what happens. I'd recommend overfilling the oil on any car driven aggressively, the level it drops whilst running is scary

    A GUESTION, my g80 locker is not locking anymore I suspeect it has broke a tooth from the little gear but not sure I haven't opened it yet, so the guestion is are parts easy to find for the g80 to fix it? OR could I tear the g80 stuff out and just turn it into a welded diff? My top priority would be to keep this diff but if nothing else then in the future I can find a new one / new open diff to weld, first i'd just want to make the most of what I got

  • @jakobschweitzer5117

    @jakobschweitzer5117

    Hi! jop... g80 with a locker mod like to fail after some time... you can put an open diff in your car, but the axle shaft on g80 axles are a bit shorter than normal axles... that might be a problem. swapping axles and the diff is possible but just as much work as putting a complete rear end in the car. But you can also try to just weld the spider gears in your g80 diff and send it... i mean it is already fuckt, so why not...

    @@jakobschweitzer5117 thanks for the comment and I didn't know about the axles so that's going to help alot if I make the switch. I've figured the g80 doesn't hold that long if it's drifted, I'll see what's up with it when I open it and if it's totally not fixable anymore I'll just gut the g80 parts and weld it:D the g80 would be nice as it's my daily but I want to spin tires so if the g80 is lost then it gotta be transformed into welded. and I just remember how when I got the car I always hear the *CLANK* I thought something is broken xD little did I know I had something beautiful I don't have anymore, we'll see what's wrong with it and go from there

    @@hupe5836 In my car i also had to change the distance of the speed sensor, because my g80 had a bigger diameter speedo ring than the open diff... i am currently using a tenaci torsen diff in my daily... it works great but it costs about 1000€😬

    @@jakobschweitzer5117 valuable info🙌I mean a big diff investment should be a great solution like worry free, do you have any recommendations for the cheap end lockers? Like anything is better than welded right? So what would be the next step up, the simplest of lockers that are not welded and shouls be fine for drifting aswell and okay for daily. I'd be fine with welded keep in mind I don't drive 24/7 at parking lots
