@Jim Hughes One could make the accurate argument that the biggest liars are psychopaths, and psychopaths are the least likely to seek psychological help. JBP is really an expert in normative personality, and is now just getting into exploring dark tetrad personalities. His teaching speaks to the majority, and the people with truly dark personalities don't care what he has to say.

My mother is a pathological liar. She has a good heart, but she cant help it. She has to always change the versions of anything she says. Adding or exaggerating details that werent there or even come up with something as she talks to save her arse. Consequences: first, i doubt anything she says. I cannot just listen to her without thinking that what she is saying is false. So we argue all the time because i contradict whatever she says by asking questions to dismantle her narrative. It drives her mad, because she isnt smart enough to bounce back, but i just cant sit and pretend. Other consequence is that i have zero tolerance for liars in general -not only her. If i ask you a question and you lie, you are wasting my time and breaking my trust and i'll resent you for that. Honesty, with tact, over lies, even white lies. But people will say that they hate hypocrites but still prefer lying over saying the truth just to be appreciated. It is despicable.

I think JP's advice only applies in common contexts, not in situations like interrogation. I mean, if you think all lying is sinful then people like Corrie Ten Boom and Irena Sendler would have been in the wrong for lying to the Nazis to keep Jews safe. And you definitely shouldn't go near any kind of game where lying is a big part of the fun. No don't be absurd, lying is only a sin when you lie for personal gain or to hurt or cheat someone and to avoid the consequences of your actions. In this talk in particular JP is talking about the kind of lie someone tells to avoid being persecuted by people who would hurt you for believing a certain thing. By lying about the thing you end up digging yourself into a hole because by supporting the very thing you didn't believe in you allowed it to become a much worse situation than it was before. Like, if you don't stand up for what you believe in then you may avoid being hurt in the short term but you have enabled your enemies to subjugate others and take authority and will suffer the consequences of their power position in the long term.

He says “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” and the security I get by trying to emulate Him, knowing I won’t be able to but trying to anyways out of my love and appreciation and respect for Him, it matches nothing. Having prayer time with a pure belief that Jesus Christ is listening to my prayer and bringing it to the Father, because I won’t ever be enough alone. I and my Father are one. Some don’t change, they just find new ways to lie… Once a liar, always a liar? To an extent, but liars and change doesn’t happen overnight. To hide 1 lie you have to lie hundreds of times, and the thing with that is liars often lie so much that they can’t dis earn fact from fiction because they believe their own lies. Secondly, there are two types of liars: 1s that tell little white lies (petty) 2nd that lie about everything and anything (learnt from childhood) to avoid any consequences to that said action What liars often forget is to tell the truth even if it hurts is temporary, but lying and standing on it is permanent. Lastly please remember: Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future
