If you want an easier way to tell which universe you are in, pay attention to stamps the beagle. In each universe he is a different type of dog. Beagle in the main timeline, Pomeranian in Zack’s, etc

​@Rosso-km5jn it's sequel. The only thing plot hole is how did Sephiroth know about the paradox timeline. I believe something happened in world after advent children and sephiroth know the alternative reality. But Aerith is the one who prevent him from his plan to get a possible outcome that he become a god. That's why he said in rebirth he found Aerith who hide in the world where the people already accept and know their world already doomed.

Interesting how the host casually leaves out the part of when Cloud picks up Tifa in the reactor and moves her to a safe place, then confronts Sephiroth in a rage over hurting Tifa and killing his mother.

GameSpot, I can't get enough of your content, so I subscribed!

Couple of points I disagree. 1. When transforming the Ancient Temple back to its materia form, it will shrink. And a person who activated it from inside will die. The activation doesn't require a sacrifice. It's just no one can get out of the temple fast enough. 2 Cloud and Zack memories didn't mix. Cloud, after years being experimenting on with Zack, learned much about him He took Zack's personality to be his. But deep down he is still himself. He is just acting tough. Acting like Zack. And this leads to: 3. Tifa didn't discovered Cloud's true past. She KNEW. She was just afraid to ask Cloud about it. When Clould and Tifa fell into the life stream. Tifa was able to go into and reach Cloud's mind. Then Tifa talke (show) Cloud what really happened. This is just to help Cloud to get to term with what happened in the past. This builds alot on Tifa and Cloud's relationship.

No, Tifa did learn about Cloud's past. From her perspective Cloud was never there, hence why Sephiroth was able to use her to mentally break Cloud. In the life stream she learns that Cloud was in fact there and he's no Hojo creation

You forgot to mention that the two soliders who picked up genesis were deepground operatives called Nero and Weiss, if they were based on genesis or not, I very much doubt but yeah..that's why genesis was their "big brother" I don't think they were genesis clones, but something else, unless it's stated somewhere I do not have a clue about.

Guys don’t over complicate it the trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children meaning that Aerith and Sephiroth know what’s going to happen in the future and by challenging fate multiple timelines were created so there’s still a chance to see Aerith back in the third game.

We killed the 3 brothers from advent children in the form of whispers in the first game. When you check their stats they are described as each of the 3 brothers.

Okay so what is this 'the first soldier' animation before ever crisis' the first soldier? Searching it up I can only find the game and not these scenes.

Everyone has a story line they love which is not about selfish or keeping the original story intact, it is about we all expecting things good in these days. Now is no longer 1997 the value, the mindset and global environment totally different. people need more positive and faith for good.

I think the parts playing as Zack, that should of been him experiencing the afterlife within the lifestream. Where everyone who dies wakes up and takes control of their sleeping counter parts. Mostly because i HATE multi-verse scenarios that removes any consequence to anything. when everything that could happen does happen, whats it matter? somewhere you lost, or won, or didn't even bother. pointless.

Before Crisis has a lot of story and there is a playthrough you could have watched and gleaned a lot of info thus greatly expanding your section no Before Crisis. Each of the turks have a backstory with a little bit of research you could have gotten a little info about all of them and including Verdot who is the old boss of the Turks. Not putting down your research you have done but there is a lot more to unpack with that game which desperately needs a remake.

I say this prior of watching this, I assume you added the FFX lore aswell, since both connected and the Shinra family is from Al-bhed origin that space travelled to Gaia or Gaya, the homeplanet of the Ancients. And that's why all Shinra folks are 👱 and tech savy.

That said - i think a lot of people are misinterpreting the scenes where Zack ends up alive after the battle with all the shinra troops and the one where Aerith sees him walking with Cloud as literal when it is in fact metaphorical. Think about it. The whole story of OG FF7 and even in Remake Intergrade, Cloud remembers a big part of his story as if he were Zack himself. So in a way, is Zack not "carrying" Cloud in a sense, even if it is from beyond the grave? If you remember Crisis Core after defeating Angeal, he visits Zack and guides him through his journey in a similar way to Cloud in FF7/Remake minus the severe mako poisoning. And similarly, in telling Cloud that he is his "living legacy", is Zack not in a sense "born again" in Cloud? Metaphorical. Not literal. Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted talk. What do you guys think? Am I hitting the nail on the head or missing huge since I haven't played Rebirth yet?

Am I wrong or is Remake technically set after Advent children with Sephiroth trying to stop his fate from happening. This is why whispers are trying to fix fate.

I am so close to earning the Platinum Trophy for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth! I only have a few of the Infuriating Curio Wall Trophies for Johnny's Seaside Inn left. All in all this has been an epic game and ive enjoyed it thoroughly a few mini games aside.

@leejones2113 well. With Dissidia being a thing, FF as a whole is a multiverse, so I don't see a problem with FF7 having its own little multiverse as well. Idk. I guess with comic books (books...not comic book movies) being a thing I loved as a kid and growing up, I am used to the idea of them.

@@AnferneeMyers its a timeline mess, so new timeline created, original timeline(og storyline from og ffv) changed, certain characters fate changed, some characters are back(not dead), but at the same time, this timeline and other timeline can become intertwined, a whole of timeline mess, so confusing

Understanding that there’s more story to be told (from the perspective of the original story or the new elements involving timelines) I never expected the game to end in a place of clarity, per se. I can certainly understand why that might be frustrating, though.

Someone help me understand how zach came back to midgard to find tifa, barret and aerith mortally injured. Like none of these events would have happened without cloud right? Cloud had to at the very least have been there to get aerith involved with avalanch. But he wasnt, he was with zach and has been unconscious. So whats up? How did we get here? This seems just so unnecessary. Do we really need time travel and alternate timelines? It judt makes everything so messy and there are always plot holes.

Been thinking about the same thing. All I can think of is that they failed in taking down Sephiroth at the end of Remake because they didn't have Cloud. As for Aerith being involved with Avalanche, maybe Aerith gave the flower to Tifa/Barret and Tifa/Barret fell into the church after the second reactor. Avalanche did exist before Cloud. One change in the timeline can ultimately change a whole timeline. Like those Nexus events in Loki. Zack surviving is that event that changed everything.

@@eba8938 I think it's just a poorly written plot device to insert Zach into the heart of a story he doesn't belong in. Like why not have Zach doing all the things cloud would have been doing with Zach's personal twist on it? Multiverse and alternate timeline stuff never and I mean never works. The only time it's ever worked well is in everything everywhere all at once.

The thing though is that OG is not relevant anymore. Take for example Rebirth. It explicitly told the story about Seraphim, and the incident .... People are just spoiling themselves with this material. You want to know. Play Remake, read Traces of Two Pasts, play Rebirth and wait for any other dlc (such as intermission was for Remake), novel and etc, until the final part and what comes aftewards. OG timeline is irrelavant in the new continuity, because, spoiler alert .... they defied the "destiny" which in other words broke the og chain of events So all you are doing watching this is ruining the experience. PEople used to be more patient with veil of mystery wrapped around the plot, now with internet and media exposure they need to know what happens tommorow and we didn't even finished today ....

The storyline is complete and utter nonsense. The only good thing about these games (specifically the remakes) is the graphics. Maybe the game mechanics and story might have been good back in the 2000s but it’s terrible in the modern age

OG FF7 on its own had the sauce. Everything else (yes including crisis core) was really terrible storytelling and made the universe more nonsensical. Can’t be undone which is painful. The more they tried to cash in the weaker FF7 OG legacy became. I dig the remake trilogy though. The localisation is far better than the other works and is filled with dream fulfilment for the fans.

@@nicholasgough I find that too many people hold ff7 to an unfair standard and then expect it to meet expectations that it never set. I played the game as an adult and have no nostalgia for the game despite enjoying it a lot. Aside from knowing aerith died since it was impossible to escape that spoiler after 20 years everything else was pretty pure as far as play throughs go. Ff7 was always goofy and always had a splash of nonsense and complicated storylines. That’s why it continued in all the other works. But people don’t want to admit that it wasn’t perfect and when they see the flaws that always existed in the newer games they lash out and claim that it must be some sort of change or bad writing that tarnished the legacy.
