Pretty sure that the "1/35 Soldier" item is referring to a scale miniature, similar to wargaming miniatures, Gundam models, and even model vehicles & trains. So 1/35 scale would mean that the item is 1 35th the size of a regular person.

Also Vincent and Yuffie weren't in the cut scenes because they were considered to be optional characters as you can go through the entire game without obtaining either one. It would've been too much for the PS1 to have separate cut scenes depending on who you had in your party.

I heard that later they said the reason why they weren't there was because they were in Midgar. Wonder if that's true. Would be cool if in Part 3, Yuffie (not Vincent since he doesn't have a phone) calls the party and tells them that they would have came but they had to stay in Midgar and protect the people or something.
The secret cutscene with Zack is hinted at when cloud puts his memory back together since we needed to find out how he made it to Midgar after the fight with sephrioph.
The house was one of many strange enemies in FF7. I went back to the original game a few years ago and realized FF7 is actually a pretty weird game lol
@imveryangryitsnotbutter
Жыл бұрын
Honestly, not so strange when you think about it. Mimics are a staple of D&D and its ilk (Final Fantasy included). The M.O. of these monsters is that they disguise themselves as desirable inanimate objects to prey on greedy adventurers or desperate folk. And in the undercity of Midgar where poverty and homelessness go completely unchecked, what more desirable object for a Mimic to disguise themselves as, than a comfy-looking house? In the Remake, it's even classified as Artificial Life, which heavily implies that Hojo created it, probably so he could unleash it in the slums and see what happens, for science.

At the risk of sounding "edgy" or whatever I have to say that VII is the most influential game I've ever played. I got the game in winter 1997, as an 11 year old, going through a lot and it became an escape for me during my adolescence. I don't understand why people find the ending of FF7 vague or cryptic. Aerith was in the lifestream. Sephiroth was in there, too, preventing Holy from stopping Meteor. After exorcizing Sephiroth and allowing Holy to be cast, Aerith uses the lifestream to empower it and stop Meteor. That's why we see her one final time, the same way we saw her the first time. Aerith, in death, saved the world. It's a bookend, but I never felt like it was implying there was a timeloop or a vision of the future. Especially since we got sequels that show Meteorfall's aftermath.

In the original they mention how the planet and Holy could eradicate Humans for being the planet's biggest threat. I'm shocked that you haven't brought up the "Who killed Aerith: Sephiroth or Jenova," debate. There are videos that cover this because, in the Japanese version, there is a different text that implies that the person going around in all of the encounters is Jenova using an image of Sephiroth (which is why you fight her every single time.) It doesn't make sense that Sephiroth would randomly have pieces of Jenova, he's in the creator when you finally find him, and he died in Nibel. It also makes sense that Jenova wouldn't know who Cloud is, because only Sephiroth met Cloud back then and she calls him a puppet/doll because he has Jenova cells inside of him.
@Ryushikaze
Жыл бұрын
The full answer is that Sephiroth, controlling the braindead body of Jenova, killed Aerith. He's been pulling all available Jenova cells to himself, including weak willed SOLDIERS, Copy project experimentees, and Jenova's body.

I think you are right. Sephiroth falls into the lifestream at the reactor and re-emerges in north crater where he remains the entire game. Anytime you see Sephiroth outside a flash back or the final fight you are seeing Jenova. If Sephiroth was controlling her is up for debate.

I always assumed most summons are Cetra. Materia is Mako, Mako is lifeforce, and lifeforce contains the memories of those in it. Hence why it enables you to cast spells and use abilities without learning the hard way. Aside from a few oddballs like Choco/mog, (chocobos are special and Moogles do have some status in universe given Cait Sith. Extinct perhaps?) and Typoon (direct FFvi reference, Ultros' pet thingy), almost all are human-adjacent (Titan, Shiva, Ramuh, Odin, Hades, KotR, etc.) or powerful creatures like dragons (bahamut, neo/zero/etc.) Or other mako-infused beings (Condor becoming Phoenix) The human ones, then, are either humans or Cetra, the latter far more likely

1:20:08 That isn't a factory, it's the cargo hold of the Shinra Cargo ship that takes the party from Junon to Costa del Sol, on the 2nd continent of the game. This picture is slightly different from the one in-game though. It appears to extend further back than the original and has none of the crates and other objects present in the game. Also, the last picture seems to be the area from the cutscenes with Shinra and where Cloud gives the Black Materia to Sephiroth. At least, that's what it appears to be imo.

Those 2 are correct. The Ship spot where you go to Costa Del Sol, The cave is where you see the Shinra goons and Cloud floats up and puts the Black Materia into Sephiroth. It was a pretty common practice for Square to come out with "International Versions" of their games. Basically, since their games were made in Japan, they were released in Japan before anywhere else. But when they were released internationally, they'd fix bugs and maybe even add some new content while they waited for localizers to do their thing. So since the Japanese market would miss out on these improvements, they'd rerelease the game as an "International" version in Japan, and add even more content.
@CStarFlare
Жыл бұрын
Was it common? FFVII was the first I am aware of but maybe I just wasn't paying attention before then. The only earlier FF revision I can think of was FFIV Easy Type, which came out in Japan a month before FFII. I'm only aware of X and XII getting international revisions after VII.
@GyroMozzarella
Жыл бұрын
@Perfo Rongo I disagree. Just take a look at the earlier titles. A lot of content was cut from the english translation, 4 full games were left unreleased for decades, censorship was super heavy, and the games were sometimes just neutered. FFIV is a great example of this
I'm obsessive over FFVII and I didn't even know some of this existed like The Kids Are Alright and one of the OVAs. Great work!
Ah yes I remember that secret ending of Dirge! I remember there were rumors that they were going to make a Sephiroth game called Final Fantasy VII: One-Winged Angel that ended with him fighting Genesis one last time connecting it with Dirge. Sadly never got it, but that made my teenage art so excited at the time.
Fun fact: The PlayStation 1 was supposed to be the Nintendo console instead of the n64. When the chips fell where they did. Sony released it themselves. Maybe square Enix just went with the console they originally were told to develop for and not the rushed prototype that was the n64…
Who the heck is dumb enough to bully someone named sephiroth
The unused factory picture looks like it could be the ship you use to cross the sea on disc one, just without all the stuff in the room and door that opens.
I just realized that the Behemoth seen in the N64 conception is the sprite that later on got overworked, remodeled and used in FFX as Defender Z and X and Mech. Another thing I'd like to mention is that last year a speedrunner discovered the Kalmskip, which shortens the Any% speedrun by 15 minutes.

Development began in 1994, originally for the Super Famicom. After delays and technical difficulties from experimenting on several real-time rendering platforms, Square moved production to pre-rendered video, necessitating the huge capacity of the CD-ROM format and therefore departing Nintendo for the PlayStation. Veteran Final Fantasy staff returned, including series creator and producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, director Yoshinori Kitase, and composer Nobuo Uematsu. The game is the first in the series to use full motion video and 3D computer graphics, superimposing real-time 3D character models over pre-rendered CGI backgrounds. Final Fantasy VII introduced more widespread science fiction elements and a more realistic presentation, while the gameplay systems remained largely similar to previous entries, with the addition of new elements such as Materia, Limit Breaks, and new minigames. The staff of more than 100 had a combined development and marketing budget of around $80 million.
People who don't like the remake because of the "changes to the storyline." What it did was paint the idea that Aerith and Sephiroth know the outcome of the original game. Sephiroth wants to change it so that he is successful. Aerith wants to change it so she survives. Both want to alter the original which is why the Whispers/Arbiters are present. They are trying to preserve the original timeline.
Vincent/Yuffie would have not been in the ending cutscene as they were extra characters and they weren't going to do a new render for 2 side characters (Also size constraints on CD's would have been an issue) Aerith Dialogue was from the issue with they were not sure about killing her off so there was abit of contention as it was a first. 1/35th is a scale used for models/minutres etc. The remake is heavily hinted as being a continuation of the FFVII compedium not an alternate timeline (Somehow) by the staff at square enix.
1/35 Soldiers are a reference to the models popular in Japan and other places, such as Gundam plastic kits. What they mean is 1/35th size of the original object. So let's say the average man is 180cm tall; in this case, the toy soldier would be ~5.14cm.
Well with the remake of 7, there is an older shinra to be seen in a picture making a nod to what he was able to fully complete the original shinra company.
I'm so happy I found this channel!
Oh man, Dirge of Cerebus was criminally underrated. I hope we see a rerelease for PC in the vein of crisis core reunion, it'll bomb but I'll be happy
1:05:33 I always thought 1/35 was a scale size, like with plastic model kits and such.

The remake didnt have a mixed reception. It got high scores across the board. Sure OG fans had issues but 95% liked it.
I had read somewhere that Vincent was immortal due to the "Chaos" in him. As at the end of the game Dirge of Cerberus, Vincent loses the Chaos, he becomes mortal again. But even 500 years later, Nanaki comes back to Midgar to continue the pact he made with Vincent, even if Vincent is not alive anymore (which is still very beautiful in itself). But then, as the authors never really talked about Vincent's immortality after "On the Way to a Smile", the question of "if Vincent becomes mortal again or not?" is still debated. I hope they can end this debate in the remakes by giving us a definitive answer.

I read the book “on the way to a smile” and Vincent has a heart to heart with Nanaki. Nanaki is sad that someday everyone he loves will be dead. "On the Way to a Smile" takes place between OG FF7 and Advent Children, and Dirge of Cerberus takes place after Advent Children. I've also read that Chaos made Vincent immortal, so once Chaos returned to the planet at the end Dirge of Cerberus, Vincent should theoretically have lost his immortality. But like you said, they haven't really referenced his immortality much outside of "On the Way to a Smile". Hopefully they do give us a definitive answer in Remake.

@@generatoralignmentdevalue I’m pretty sure she also had a teenager with her too? But like, not her kid. She just took them and apparently no one’s seen either of them since.
Immediately thought of Kimahri with Cobalt 14. And then the battle aspect made me think of Biran and Yenke on Gagazet. Maybe it got reused as that for FFX

Hornless! Hornless!
I think the weirdest part was about Cloud obtaining Marlene's panties. I'm glad they cut it. That's weird as shit considering Marlene is like 4 years old in FF7. Why the hell would you obtain a pair of her panties? Even if he didn't know where they came from, they would clearly have been a child's if they fit a 4 year old.
This iceberg just got a whole lot deeper after Rebirth......way deeper
Cerberus begins with the letter "C".
Within the very first minute. >Square Enix Already wrong. It was Square Soft back then. The companies hadn't merged yet.
I've recently started playing the remake and just finished chapter 11, I've been absolutely invested and it's caused me to go down a rabbit hole of the story as a whole. ^^
This was great, thank you
I loved Ehrgeiz, not even for the fighting game, but the secondary dungeon crawl game.

isn't the Tree (left Pic) used in a cut scene? I remember Cloud on his spiderman anti-gravity boots walking on those vines towards the crystal at the top. I might be remembering this wrong.
@Apukah

@@reyne-soundtherapy469 I think the tree is where Cloud gives Sephiroth the black materia (that might be the cutscene you are talking about) and where the Weapons awake. But im not sure either about that one.
Knowing how Cloud in FFT was canon. It reminds me of how I would've loved to see Squall in Tactics, knowing he was unconscious after Edea used her limit break on Squall
More than 1 hour of FF7? Let's Goooooo!
I don´t think the general reaction to the Remake was mixed. Sure there are vocal critics, but many would say this is one of the best FF games ever, the best real time combat system of the series, and many´s favourite game ever(me included). Games like FF8/12/13/15 are much more mixed. having said that, great video overall. Just nitpicking eheheheh.

It also got near universal acclaim critically. It’s a completely unfounded statement that it’s mixed, it was about 85/15 love to hate. Then again this guy calls Namura NamEERA for the entire video.

@@robertharper3114 we never said that EVERYONE liked it, it's that when you call something mixed, it gives the connotation that the game had an equal amount of people hating it as there were people loving it, which just isn't true at all. It not only was liked by a ton of fans of the original but also made a ton of new fans of the series who had both never played the original or even a JRPG in the first place. IMO it was the first modern Final Fantasy that wasn't filled to the brim with cringe inducing weeb voice acting which broadened its appeal.

The reaction was mixed though. You think the people who don't like it are going to put any effort into dropping a review on a game they wish to forget playing? Dont believe me, I don't care, but yeah, the reaction was pretty mixed there buddy.

@@robertharper3114not at all tho, this game brought in ALOT of new fans to ff7 and the ff7 series and and got extreme praise when it came out. The people that didn’t like are a very vocal minority which mainly just includes purist of the og game
Impressive info about this game
Thanks for the video! Though I couldn't understand everything since English is not my native language, that was interesting to watch the video, and I even have known something new for me considering I am a huge fan of the game :)

Strait up FF7 is the best game I have ever played. I was gassed up for the new ff7 until I relized it was an entirely new game. 7 is such a tragedy in every way yet hope and perseverance triumphs and our hero’s go to the edge of the planet to save every one among all the people you met along your journey comming down on sepheroth
Saying ff7 remake got mixed reception is biased as hell because the only negative reception came from the hard core fans who didn't understand the story at the time or were just looking at out of context spoilers. The general reception was incredibly positive. Saying Dirge had a good story is also just as inasne. Otherwise this is a great video.
