She looks like she is having the time of her life and she just feels every song with her whole heart.

they could be some of the biggest name in folk music if they were still together, like goddamn they won four grammys in just 3 years. they made good fckin music

When I watch them perform together I feel like I need to go to confession afterwards, and I've been an agnostic for 30 years.

I wish they would forgive each other. The world is such a much better place with them creating their art.

You can have the best of intentions to keep personal life compartmentalized from artistic/professional life, but at the end of the day we are all human, and reality is messier than that. A man and a woman spending all that time together on the road, on the stage, in a songwriting room, with that level of chemistry… I’d say the odds are against them NOT getting together. It’s unfortunate for those of us who loved the music that chemistry produced, but for their personal lives, it was the right call.

@Ivanka Cerqueira oh, 100%. A perfectly complementary pair of voices and energies. I think that part of growing up is learning that even the most wonderful things in the world have double-edged blades.

They are absolutely out-of-this-world phenomenal. Why did they have to break up? The world needed much more of their brilliant artistry.

It’s 2022 and still mourning that breakup. Reunion album please!

That riff is just perfect!

The amount of talent that this takes is actually incredible... to be right next to a person singing in a totally different note that is mutlple octives below/above what you are supposed to be singing, and making it sound good is so difficult... and to have them sound like this live is unheard of in today's music... a breath of fresh air!

Saw them so many times back then. Still loving their harmonious ways in 2022.

I had no idea that the civil wars had broken up,and I am losing more and more faith in humanity.I was much happier without knowing they are not together anymore.I am sad.

I wish these two could work it ot and reunite I know it is selfish but this a rare act for this much talent to be shared so beautifully between two people

I love #joywilliams voice so much; Her sound makes me feel something, it doesn't matter what it makes me feel, as long as it makes me feel, and it totally does. Awesome album! Barton Holler! ;-)

my first time hearing them was live. They opened for Emmylou Harris. I brought my mum to see her for Mother's Day. Boy was I blown away by their acoustic set. I can't even remember the rest of the show, just the absolute chemistry these two shared.

Still gives me goosebumps! So glad I got to see them live. Even have their autographs.

That's so sad they broke up,they were really amazing too 😢.....I remember my first time hearing them...it was like 6am n I had just woken up too the sound of the beautiful soundof a guitar.then I heard them Open up the song with their beautiful harmony....I was wide awake by the time John Paul started singing his 1st line,and by the time they got tho the chorus I felt like they knew me,like they could relate to my very soul...then when joy hit that one note I just knew they were awesome and that they were going to be huge.that was the 1st time I had ever heard Barton hollow.

I m addicted to the Civil Wars. I v never posted b4 now for a band or anything but hearing them....

There's many singers out there as good as these two, the magic was the way they inter acted with each other and harmonized, as solo's they'll get lost with the Idol drop offs of the world. so sad:(
