Besides Civil Wars and Foxes and Fossils who else can nail this song? This version is so inspiring that I love them both as equals . I love Pikes drum addition on this so much and it adds another layer to this very well crafted song that was not on the original track. Tim and Sammie singing together on this is added treat.

..and hey! We should never ignore Tim's stellar vocals either, and he arranges the material, then produces it, (this is not a live mix) so gets most of the credit for what you're hearing. Kudos to Tim for being the glue holding it together musically.

Thought I had heard all the songs from the Taco Place. Wow, this is top-notch. Many people say, "Why aren't they more famous, or on TV, or on a major record label" etc. It's because they want to make music on their own terms and on their own schedule, and KZread gives them the chance to do that and still be heard by millions. You just keep doing that, Tim! But if you do a concert within a thousand miles of southern California, I'll be there!

Went and listened to the Civil Wars recording after this then came back. This stands on its own right beside the CW rendition. I like hearing Sammie on lead to give her her due. She does some fine work there. She just has that extra something she brings to the harmonies on all the tunes with Mags or Chase on lead vocals. I wanted to see more of her in the spotlight when I started watching these videos and she hasn't disappointed. But, if you listen to many of the other tunes you start to realize just how magical and how much more the performances are raised with Sammie's weaving it all together with her harmonies in such a solid, but unobtrusive way. Mags is outstanding as a lead singer and has that warm tonal quality similar to Sarah Evans. That is not a bad thing at all. Kind of like smooth, warm, yet complex bourbon flowing into the glass. Small batch, top shelf. Not everyday blended stuff. The whole outfit should be recording and touring as a big name band. I'd put them up beside The Band Perry, Little Big Town, or even Lady Antebellum, and know they would give nothing away.

Have watched every F&F video out there many times, and then found this one. I'm just so damn impressed, the real deal. Only sad there isn't more to the story. Different time different place... they could be household names.

The brilliance here -- notwithstanding the musicianship and vocal talent -- is the great quality and mix of the soundboard recording. (With just enough audience mixed in. ) Pro job. Love you guys

What a great performance. Definitely no auto tune here. How isn’t this band not famous? They could teach the phonies like Bieber and Swift something about singing! I’d pay to see them in a larger venue than a bar on the interstate. Love F and F

PLEASE add your "Fossil Phys Ed 1954" tee shirt to your online shop! I was the 1st newborn in Fulton County (Atlanta) in 1954, so I get bragging rights! Y'all are so awesome! Stay happy and healthy, my friends 😻

Claudia, that was an eBay find. It was a promo item for Fossil watches. We could probably get into some trouble if we tried to sell one with that design! Check eBay - search 'fossil shirt' - you might get lucky, who knows? Scott (bass) Fossil

There are two live versions of this by the original duo, one on a stage in front of an audience, the other by themselves in a small room. Both have an air of spontaneity, but what Tim and Sammie pull off here is a combination of rehearsal and polish absent on CW's non-Vevo versions. Doing it live and sounding like a studio.

May 3 2020, the Civil Wars’ live take has 51K views, vs this with 178K views. (I realize the CW Vevo version has way more, as would be expected.)
