I guess this is being nosey, but how is Selmar able to be staying at Lalonde for so long? He's volunteering right? Or are they paying him now that he has stayed on longer? I know some who travel and live a vanlife but they're usually KZreadrs and make money that way.

Where do I begin? So glad that Thomas was able to get clothes after his rough start to his journey. Selmar is most definitely a renaissance man! His kindness and care of the wee peas is truly heartwarming. And he can dance! The Tango has always fascinated me but I could not dance to save my life. As I watched this whole video, the chateau, the rural locale, the small village, the shops and market, and the charity shops, I was moved by this feeling of warmth, comfort and contentment. I may never get to buy a chateau in France, but maybe there is a way to create my own sanctuary, on my own little piece of God's Little Acre here in Canada. Thank you for being my inspirations. ❤️

The chicks! The tango! The new clothes for Thomas! Love you all so much!! As a former curator, I want to advise against hanging the artwork over the cooking area. The fluctuations in humidity and temperature, and the grease exposure, will damage the art over time, even though it’s framed. It’s such a gorgeous work - I’d hate to see it ruined. You have an excellent eye, Stephanie. Much love to all.

Yes, I was just thinking that the moisture, grease, etc. would be very bad for artwork. I'm a former curator too. And dust would adhere to frame and glass.

Selmar and Tomaz are so funny together, a great counterfoil for each other. Look forward to more great comedy moments between them.

So glad Thomas was able to buy clothes. He's such a sweet person, as is Selmar and the rest of the Lalande inhabitants. Love them all! Natalia looked as if she had danced before...very light on her feet. Stephanie looking lovely as always. And where does Mummy get her energy and easy moves....does she do yoga or gymnastics?

The dancing is wonderful , mummy feels like my friend. I’m 77 and I believe she is around 72 looks and acts much younger. I want to come out to la land with my two daughters both are very creative and have great organizational skills. We would love to become part of the unveiling of your onion. My true love is the elusive Nick along with his beautiful wife and delightful son. Then again there’s that cutie pattuty Bill, and as a indispensable “ Salmar and now dan and However the newest members of the family came from Thor, five active children to paint beyond a heartbeat. I pray next year I will be able to teach art classes in your as of now I used class room. I will apply to that employment of volunteers Organization. If not next year when the pandemic is gone. I’m not getting older I’m becoming more engaged. This year there will be a package coming your way for all of Chateaux de laland. Queanie since Tip last year I believe sif also lost her eggs around the same time as the other girl was sick. Sif was roosting on her eggs for months and becoming sick, as they weren’t hatching and she wasn’t eating the poor girl.

So glad for you and your Mum that your household has come to life as it has after lockdown.

Mlle. Stephanie, I would like to suggest that for a replacement of the garland in the kitchen, you take one of the old timbers found around the chateau and size it to about 5.08 cm by 20.32 cm or even 25.4 cm and have the length run (almost) the length of the wall. Drill holes along the wall & place some galvanized steel/iron bolts into the holes about 10.16 deep, gluing them in with construction adhesive. Drill the timber shelf with corresponding holes, making sure there is sufficient length to go into the timber for support. You don't have to glue the bolts onto the timber, The timber shelf can then be fitted onto the bolts & removed if you need to. You may need to sand down the timber, wash it with vinegar & then rub it down with s natural oil or melted beeswax with stain added to it. I like Black Walnut stain made from the hull of the walnut. Or you could paint the timber shelf to match the dish cupboard on the other side of the kitchen & add a small rail on top to hold more plates & platters!

Thomas is amazing and has done so much work in a short amount of time. Laundry room is looking so good. I wanted to cry for him when all his clothes were stolen but so happy that folks pitched in to get a new wardrobe. It just renews my faith in people. Selmar did a lovely job on the laundry table. I just love everyone. 😘 The excitement of Selmar and mummy over the birth of baby pea hens is so captivating. Such beautiful babies.

Is this the same pea hen that had the the unfertilized eggs before. Also the same one that almost died?

I've watched this two times...possibly three. I love Selmar's excitement to announce the baby pea chicks to you as you arrived. The tango lessons look amazing! Stephanie, you are very graceful. So much fun to watch!

A divine day indeed! All sorts of newly gotten goodies AND then coming home to the Peachicks! The Charity Shop looks wonderful with all the furniture and dishes. Would have loved to have a look at all those cloth napkins.

Last time I did the tango was in a Swedish youth hostel with a Finnish sailor to music on TV in 1989. Even in jeans and nikes it was marvelous. Honestly think Selmar will have so many offers for jobs from what has been shown here. I am so curious about still waters... what did he do before he came to Lalande? What are his favorite things to do?

@@deedeelovelace2901 It was a nice chapter. My last dance was 2015 with Patch Adams in a cafe in West Virginia after planting spruce trees with a group. Dancing days are over thanks to a neuromuscular disease unless find a very strong tall partner. Not looking though.

That was a part of my story a few years ago... Guess it is just another of life's experiences ( yet it has become a dominant theme) .... A good friend who believes in reincarnation reckons, at some level we choose our varied and various challenges ... if that is the case, wished I hadn't overlooked a more recent desire: that is, to be a masochist ... my friend was surprised and made the mistake of asking why? Happy to hear about the work on the lake restoration is progressing. I still think a water turbine can generate some free power for the chateau. Fascinated by the work Tomaz & Selmar are doing in the laundry room. Awesome table! Sorry to hear about Tomaz having his luggage stolen. You need a a bacteria & enzyme treatment that you can add to the grease section of your septic tank. It will break up, eat & dissolve grease & other clogging materials & keep your septic system operating better. In the States, we use a product called "Rid-X" It can be used for all waste systems in the chateau & will keep the cleaner & operating properly if used on a regular basis. I'm sure you can find a similar product in your area. If not, let me know.

I cannot even tell you how much it warmed my heart and made me smile when Selmar came running to tell you about the chicks- it almost made me cry. What a wonderful community of people you have there in the Chateau... so happy that you share it all with us💕

I have to give you a laugh, when I first glanced at the title of your vlog, I read Peach- icks, for a second I thought Mummy had ordered peach trees and that must be what you call baby peach trees!!! Then,,, doh! my eyes focused again and I realized it was the baby pea hen chicks! Excitement!!!! They are the most adorable chicks, jumping and flapping their wings. I wish I could go to your market and all the lovely second hand goods is amazing, and such a good price. Lalande is really coming along, it is so beautiful. If I wasn't so old (67) and happily married to my beautiful husband for 49 years tomorrow (2nd July) I would just absolutely grab Selmar and marry him, he is such a treasure. We got engaged at 16 and married at 18, I don't know where the years have gone. Looking forward to seeing Percy back in the arms of his beloved Isobell. Oh those beautiful little chicks!!! Congratulations to Sif and Thor!!! Selmar and Tomas are wonderful spirits, what a blessing to have them around. That Tango class was lovely to watch. And Tomas, what a wonderful talented kind young man. I'm gutted he had such a bad experience in Paris, but see how open and sunny his disposition remains!

The incredible Selmar’s reaction to the pea chicks was a joy to behold. He also has the physique of a born dancer. Once dressed up to dance he has the grace of a gazelle. Amazing. Stephanie you need a man of many talents at Lalande .

The list of names at the end keeps getting bigger and bigger and I couldn't be more happy for you! I've started watching at the beginning of quarantine and these vlogs have become part of my self care routine now! I feel so calm and happy everytime I'm watching ❤ This is such a safe space and everyone at La Lande is just so kind and joyful, it feels like a dream.

Replace the garland with a shelf that holds pots and pans.

A shelf of beautiful wood which Selmar could handle I'm sure.

Yes a shelf would be better there than the lovely print. It may get damaged from the heat and stem from the cooker.

Today as always it was so nice to see the current Laland family. The addition of the peachicks is wonderful, I hope for a flock of peacocks to wonder the grounds of Laland as they grow and get their lovely colors. The tango lesson as always was wonderful Selmar. The work in the laundry room is coming along great. I had afternoon tea while watching today. Steph, I made cheese and chive scones.....thanks for the idea to make them. Sending joy and happiness to you all, as you give to me in your posts. I am so happy I found Laland. Dreams do come true.......................S.

I cried when I saw the peachicks. After losing your peahen it is almost like the Heavens shone down on La Lande and gave you such sweet little ones. They are absolutely beautiful!
