THE CHATEAU DIARIES: A Chateau filled with Tango and Peonies!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
It's finally happened - Selmar has given us all our first Tango lesson! Tango Mania swept the chateau, with the Elusive Nic getting particularly caught up in it. We prepared by baking lemon drizzle cake to give us strength for dancing! We also celebrated VE Day, with a rousing chorus of 'We'll Meet Again', for all of our loved ones in lockdown around the world. And, last but not least, Thor the peacock put on a magnificent display!
The Chateau Diaries Episode 123 ✨🏰✨
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This channel follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
We show you what life is like in an ancient chateau in the heart of the French lockdown, and the creative crafts and activities that we’re turning to, to make the most of this period of enforced relaxation.
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. As you can imagine, your help means more to me now than ever. Because of you, I'll be able to keep living at Lalande and making videos even though our chambres d'hotes income has been decimated by the coronavirus. I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

You should hear them crow/caw during spring mating season at the Los Angeles Arboretum, it carries about a mile away! The males put on a show and the females peck for food and ignore them.

The first time I was taking care of some friends' farm, there was a terrifying screech at night that I thought was a ghost or banshee! It turned out to be Raj, their Peacock. I was so afraid I stayed up all night, until I realized who was making the sound. Also early the next morning, their male turkey was strutting around displaying all his glory to my Kia Rondo, which must have looked like a giant white turkey to him. My friends said the turkey had been missing for weeks. He returned from the woods with a wild turkey female, and he was ready to take my car down! Big adventures in Indiana.

One of our nearby neighbours has 4 male peacocks and they roam all over our town - they are called The Famous Four - he is getting 2 peahens soon to live with them. I can’t leave the house with my mobility so I haven’t seen them in person but they have a Facebook group where everyone posts photos of them out and about around town so I get to see them. I had no idea they made that much noise with their plumage either! But I have definitely heard the screeching 😂 xx

There is a Japanese art of china repair with gold leaf and red clay. Kintsugi. When something is broken and repaired, there is a strength with beauty aquired. Kits on Amazon. Videos on KZread. Kin Tsugi means gold joinery. Like a broken heart color they use a deep red clay to do the slip joinery. Then paint it with gold. Healing a broken heart is as good as gold.

Teared up over your singing “We’ll Meet Again” and Isobel’s words. I am thinking of my Dad who came ashore at Normandy in the second wave. He was badly injured and sent back to London to recuperate. It touched me so that you all remember and celebrate the sacrifices of our soldiers. Love you all.💞💞💞

It was lovely to see Gerry, he always looks so cheerful no matter what he is going through. I love your mum as she reminds so much of my late mother. Hoping that Gerry and Percy as well as the lovely Marie all make to Lalande soon. X

Dear Stephanie & gang; I just got home from work and this vlog helped me wind-down, with a bottle of Pinot Noir! 1) I watch a lot of cooking vlogs. I'm always seeing French chefs baking bread in Le Creuset pots. I'm surprised Marie hadn't done it before. All of her food looked wonderful! Love her wrap too; Please ask Antoine to model his jumper when finished. 2) L❤VE lemon 🍋 cakes too! 3) Peonies are just lovely, reminds me of my Gran. 4) Thor lol - I was at a resort in Mexico in Jan; Their male cock did the same thing! Never did get a good photo. 5) Is there anything Selmar can't do? Tango lessons looked fun! 6) So glad to see Gerry looking well ❤ 7) I was so Happy to join you & mummy Sun during the live vlog, and happy to help w Lake Fund 👍 - Eric in Illinois, USA

@@queentatoune I think people in many places are learning to bake bread during the lockdown, especially sourdough because of the yeast shortage. Partly to help minimize trips out and because it's an interesting & creative home craft that is now appealing to the homebound. O hope people stick with it afterwards, homemade is so superior.

Yes, it's called Kintsugi, part of the Wabi-Sabi tradition. The break in an object is seen as part of its experience and beauty. Cracks in an object are mended and the repair is treated with gold paint, leaf, dust, enamel or the like and is considered beautiful. It's an expression of the transitory nature of things.
