She is the perfect role model for young girls everywhere... if you want to live like a princess in a castle and you don't ever want to get a job and work to pay your bills, then have mommy and daddy pay for you to go to an elite university so you can meet a guy with money, then marry him, divorce him, keep the house and sell it. Then sleep around with guys that have money and then ask a couple ex boyfriends to help you pay for the cheapest castle you can find. When you move into your crumbling castle and you have no money left to pay for urgent repairs, and you still refuse to get a job to pay the bills, then have your mommy and daddy to move in with you and make them spend their retirement savings to pay for the repairs. Then when you have no money to pay for a cook, a gardener, a decorator or a cleaning lady, then have complete strangers stay for months and work for free... in exchange for free food and a place to sleep, like the African slaves that worked for free and were fed and given a place to sleep. And then when you need more money, have a gay friend create a vlog on KZread for you and beg complete strangers for charity and send their hard earned dollars every month, to pay your bills. She gets over $41 thousand dollars, in FREE money, every month from complete strangers... that is over $500 thousand dollars a year, as well as a 75% tax deduction from the French government for the restoration costs. The idea that anyone would have the nerve to ask complete strangers to send them half a million dollars every year in charity, so they can swish around in a castle that they could never afford to own, (it is not a listed historical castle of any value, not a stunning castle of any architectural note, and not even a sentimental castle that has been in the family for hundreds of years) is BEYOND disgusting... especially when you consider there are so many children's hospitals and animal shelters desperate for money to save lives. So for all the little girls out there, all you have to do is use rich men, use your parents, use complete strangers and then swish around in your castle, watching everyone else work for free, while you make videos pretending to be a princess.

Life is about seizing opportunities. You just described the majority of women (and frankly, men) in the world. You just "kill" her for having successful parents who sent her to college and did you really expect her to hunt for a penniless guy? And is she the first daughter to receive an inheritance? Unfortunately, plenty of women do get divorced and end up with a settlement..... let's be real. And, I wish like hell stupid people with too much money would send me $500,000 per year for my projects (with absolutely no false pretenses.) Be honest, how many people do you know that would turn that down? The lady doth protest too much, methinks... or are you an old boyfriend cut off & jealous? Or just envious of the grace, beauty, and wealth of knowledge and joy that Stephanie shares with her housemates and family? There are a great many people who are willingly charmed by the charming life Stephanie has created for herself... she's a bit like an English Martha Stewart. She shares her eclectic decorating and sewing skills, cooking feats, gardening plans, travel adventures, knowledge of antiques, architecture, and the history of France and Europe generally... and interesting vignettes of historical personalities, historical eras, and various genres and epochs of art and music. I'm sure I've left out many of her accomplishments. People volunteer WILLINGLY & HAPPILY at La Lande... no one is dragging them there in chains... they go WILLINGLY & JOYFULLY! We also don't know how much charity Stephanie gives or to whom. But in restoring the Chapel of St. Joseph at La Lande alone, she is restoring a vital (if small) jewel-in-the-crown of France & France's great patrimony. Stephanie is gracious and kind, and people are drawn to her generous open-hearted hospitality. People simply love her. In fact, she IS in the Hospitality Business, and is an EXCELLENT hostess! Stephanie is a Rennaisance Woman par excellence!! If you were to visit La Lande you might even cure the sour-puss attitude on exhibit here. i enjoyed this immensely. i now realize how much i am behind regarding the grand hx of Lalande. i remember my first dive into the interior. what interested me, first of all, was the presenter and the Lady of the chateau, Ms. Jarvis. it was she---her smile, dress, exubérance, and natural ability to connect w/ her audience---that made me return to "the well!" i must admit, i have taken myself away too much through the over-saturation of the DYI chateau market these last several months, but i am quickly paring my way back to quality presentations which delve into a thorough review and "post-mortem" of all things past, and the things that are now and are to come---sorry, i didn't mean for this to sound like Dickens---but i sure do appreciate the work that has gone into the chateau this far. i always enjoy the beautiful and stunning wallpaper in the dining room. seeing it the first time, as presented by Ms. Jarvis, made an impression of élégance and beauty. a well-presented video. i'm looking for a book of the interior???

...well Chivalry was started in Medieval France & England... I'm sure there were a few good men... perhaps even more than a few! Without modern manufacturing, public schools, nursing ...or any of the modern jobs we take for granted today... women were confined to doing arts and crafts like spinning weaving, sewing, and perhaps selling at village markets their produce from farming and eggs. If they were married to a miller, a farmer, a carpenter, a stone mason, or a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker then their lives would be considerably more comfortable and secure than just relying on their own skills alone. Doubling, tripling, or quadrupling your own salary... that could be very humble for unmarried ladies in the Middle Ages was nothing to sneeze at in the pre-industrial world. Life was very hard then, and there was safety in numbers... even if it was extended family... which btw is the circumstance that Stephanie enjoys with her own family and extended family living at the chateau (even if part-time). More hands make light work!

Stephanie bought Lalande when she was 29 for 590,000, she has workaway people staying, you need to watch her vlog on you tube it's fascinating

Actually if you watch some of Stephanie’s early vlogs she shows the state of the Chateau when she bought it, compared to even five years ago it was an utter wreck internally. Structurally most of the building is sound apart from the Grande Salon and the bedroom suite above it and work will start on that using the same company as the Chapel restorers after they have finished and when Stephanie as the resources. The restoration of the Chapel has been a huge expense and undertaking but well worth it. The Chapel restorers who have recently been working on Notre Dames’ restoration has stated that the artwork is some of the finest they have since in the country and even finer than Notre Dame itself. The Chapel is a building of huge historical and artistic importance. They have also turned one of the lofts into Mummy and Percy’s apartment, and turned another into the Tack room apartment which Micheal Potts uses. Then there’s the extensive work been done by Dan, Nick the Tree Surgeon, Kirsty, Umbeline ,Pavlina and Davy in the ground and forest. Amuary has done a lot of work in the front courtyard and the new gazebo in the vegetable garden and Dan and Amuary did all the work on the pergola. Also Amauary did the paneling in the Marquis suite and the boiler room . There has been various rooms which have been redecorated, a bathroom replastered and redecorated, the Pantry refigured and the Pergola on the terrace built. I’m sure there are hundreds of other things I’ve missed off, not everything has to be a massive job to be a restoration,Chateau’s just like any home change and evolve all the time. So in answer to your statement, actually yes, plenty has changed and been done.

You should see the place now, and the chapel is glowing in it's current 'rehabilitation.'

It would be lovely to see more documentaries from you!

I think the laundry room opened to the terrace so they could hang out the laundry or clean things outside if they needed to.

what would be informative would be how much she paid for the house, how much renovations cost and how much they earn yearly from this business. Certain renovations such as a roof replacement or cracks in outside walls would be a major expense, so it would be good to know if the income would cover such things

She owns it jointly with two of her good friends as well. So it's not solely on her shoulders alone.

It only can be in France....

The chateau is lovely though so many unfinished projects 4 years on compared to so many other diy chateaus. I do enjoy the people at the chateau - but definitely not the boyfriend who doesn't do any work, is a hanger on and wears a grunge beanie. It detracts.

Phillip is very gracious, and kind and makes Stephanie happy... he's also an artist and very talented... he has been with Stephanie for quite a few years and is NOT a "hanger-on. He's not there for the show... he is there FOR Stephanie. I guess you are not a defender of the idea of Soul-Mates or True Love either... but some of us are! 💗💞💖

Yes, some do come for this reason as BB and some people come for work and they live there and become as part of the family and enjoy all going on at that time as well as work, and volunteer their time. Covid 19 has caused a bit of a problem for the BB to run through as such. But once it changes, they will be reopened for this.

Actually, the towers of La Lande from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries were PROTECTIVE.... & a part of the original structures that were part of castle-fortifications that were protective in the Middle Ages when those kinds of fortifications were necessary. Almost all wealthy lords and wealthy families from these centuries had castles or elements of castle-like towers added on to their manors for protection. I believe the original structure from the twelfth century was indeed a castle. Buildings like this have many add-ons over the centuries.

These glasses do not sound like cristal obviously... unnecessary and vulgar.
