The Chateau Diaries 077: Escape to France
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This week everyone at the Chateau de Lalande is celebrating the launch of Ruth's novel, which was partly written at the chateau. It's about the possibilities of starting a new life in France at any age, and Stephanie talks Ruth about the joys of moving to rural France. Meanwhile, the opera workshop begins, but there's trouble in paradise as a peahen falls seriously sick.

My exact thoughts too....
I'm only just watching this, and am amused by Ruth's prophetic writing about the "dating a younger man". Simply wonderful....
Watching this in 2024 for the first time ! So exciting to know how things have changed for you and lalonde .and in so many ways a novel is being played out.I am enjoying the journey . Thank you
How prophetic, Stephanie had yet to meet Philip...!
Beautiful duet. Percy & Marie dancing was adorable.
How does one person have sooooo many talents and inner peace and optimism?
She’s a lovely singer. Omg what can’t she do.... Amazing.
I'm watching from the beginning - I was recommended to watch this series only 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching ever since! I love this episode - it's giving me Summer vibes at the end (hopefully) of a long and wet Winter .... and I'm 54 and engaged to a guy who is 40! We've been together for over 4 years :-) He's lovely and we're very happy! No patter of tiny feet though - like Percy and Isabelle! :-) I hope to be caught up by the Summer! :D
I'm only 4 minutes in to watching the video and I'm sure someone may have mentioned this already but it would be wonderful to have Stephanie narrate for an audio book version of The Little Vineyard In Provence.

Thank you for sharing with us all the sweet pea hen got heat stroke. It's 108 degrees here which is 42 celsius, and I feel so lucky that you warned us all to be careful with our own pets, too. It's a brave thing to share the hardships, also. You're all very smart. Thank you so much for helping others with what you know. Smiles! Blessing to your beauty darling pea hen. Hearts & Flowers! Prayers go out, and that she can roost her lovely egg....

@@TheChateauDiaries I Understand, and our pets thank you so much. it's often we find out things after the critical time. So generous of you all to share the truth with us to protect pets from heat. As stated sickness can affect any of us differently, and especially pets we don't know what they are going through at the time. She was pregnant with an egg at the time, but who knew. Smiles, hope it all gets worked out well. Smiles!
Stephanie thank you for bringing so many childhood memories back to me. My great-grandmama was an opera singer and she always sang beautiful arias in our kitchen when I was little. We did not have a chateau, just a very old town house with other parties living on each floor, but as most of them were family (literally) we had an open house policy much like you do at the chateau. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us.
❤️❤️❤️ I read Ruth's book this past winter. I can't believe that she is your friend. What a great book it was. ❤️❤️❤️
I pray that the peacock recovers, the book sounds like a good read, and I love it when you sing! I’m so inspired to move to France, something I’ve been thinking about for a very very long time.
wow, what a talented woman you are, I am so impressed from perfect curtain making to interior design, perfect host to an incredible singer! Love your blogs
Percy dancing with Marie ✨
You make an amazing and loyal friend to Ruth and her book ! So sad about the peacock and can see if that bird pulls through it is all due to Percy, Isabella and you, Stephanie your singing is amazing x I love hearing you sing Tis joyful.

And Steph, you were magnificent. I am trying to watch all of your past episodes and comment!
Fingers crossed that the poor peacock recovers! xx
OMG I get chillbumps when I hear you sing. So beautiful. I am so happy the peace survived. I have wanted peacocks since childhood. A man down the street had many white ones. And I always loved going to look at them.
Poor dear little peahen My dear Stephanie you could never look a fright
Hope peahen recovers .beautiful singing x
I love the music workshops. French really do joie de vivre, even at home. I don't think Americans enjoy home half as much as this.
I'm another one basking in an utterly delightful 'Lalande fest' (playing catch-up). Your Marriage of Figaro duet with the leader of the music workshop was absolutely stunning Stephanie! You are very talented x
LOL. The book is prophetic. You would think that Ruthie already knew about Phillip, who has yet to appear at LeLande.
Fantastic vlog again Stephanie , you have a beautiful voice , hope pea hen is recovering and the fun and laughter carries on such a gorgeous life with happy people it's so amazing to watch thank you so much for sharing , blessing to you all x
Sweet little peacock hen. I truly hope she recovers fully. Please let us know. We live in a high desert area where temperatures reach over 100 degrees F, and to 110 degrees in July and August. I installed misting systems along the perimeter of our palapa and also that of the back roofed patio. These bring the temperature down greatly. Perhaps you could install one or two in areas where the peacocks enjoy congregating. Something you might like to consider.

…and then this story was manifested in Stefanie’s life.
I know this is an old video, but something handy to have around is the Emergency Flower Essence by Australian Bush Flower Essences, it's good for all kinds of emergencies and stress, and can be used for animals too (put drops in water, or use spray form on them). It can increase their will to live and the Mulla Mulla Essence is good for stress associated with heat. x
Just watching this episode for the first time, and I think Ruth must either be able to foretell or a bit psychic, even with the knowledge Stephanie’s ex was 29. I appreciate Steph encouraging people to fulfill their dreams, like moving to France…it definitely would be something aid consider I just don’t know how! Enjoying the older episodes!❤
Beautiful music ❤
I'm binge watching. I can't believe that someone has such a wonderful fulfilling life. Shows you don't need to be a millionaire to live wonderfully and even own a French Chateau, (well, not for now anyway). If it catches on though with non-European foreigners, French culture and the countryside will be lost.
@RockDove5212
3 жыл бұрын
Maybe improved by 'non European foreigners,' not lost. Civilization began in Iran and , our morality in the west comes from a Jew from modern day Syria called Jesus, so don't be so arrogant to think that Europe will be destroyed by 'foreigners'. A lot of the volunteers at Lalande are from 'non European' countries. Bigotry, racism and xenophobia have no place on this channel
also hope your peahen was ok, I'm from the UK but live in the DR for last 24 yrs, lots of peacocks here but never heard they suffer with the heat!!!

I'm sure you weren't aware but chocolate and avocados are toxic to all birds. Junk food & fatty table scraps in general can cause malnutrition. I learned a few things about heatstroke due to a beloved pet also. All kinds of animals it affects the legs immobility, as well. Soaking reptiles in water helps, I saw the Dr. used wet towels for pea hens.To get them hydrated better you can soak sourdough in purified healthy water for them to eat. Figs and dates are good to soak in water and feed also if they are ok for Pea Hens. Chocolate is poison to dogs and cats, not sure about peacocks, but I was a little worried about chocolate cake. Grapes are also supposed poison to cats and dogs, so don't know about pea hens, but a great way to get water back in reptiles or turtles etc. A fan moving the air always cools a hot place off quick. Washing the area down when it's hot helps bring up humidity and cool the whole situation/atmosphere down a bit. Keeping them out of direct sun and in shade is almost impossible sometimes, but the thing most advised, along with rehydrating them by also washing vegs and fruits with purified water and not drying it off to leave moisture on their food. Smiles,!

Thank you very much for that information, it’s incredibly helpful and important. I can’t put my peacocks in the shade, as they’re completely free, but I will definitely put out some bread soaked in water for them during the next bout of hot weather.
@daringmore6892
4 жыл бұрын
@@TheChateauDiaries you're wecome. Yes, also providing areas of shade was very important I remember, and then corraling pets or hoping they go into it. Animals often do not take themselves out of the sun when needed, so there's a choice of forcing them into shade (not always fun) or letting the survival of the fittest rule. I'm not a fan of either, but will always begin by trying the forcing attempts to offer relief or healing. Healthy animals we don't want to have it happen to it' IS EVEN MORE CHALLENGING. I guess that is more coaxing and hoping to provide good shade they will use. The whole world is supposedly being exposed to higher temps this year. That's why it was very helpful that you showed your experience to viewers. Thank you. Every summer here we have 100 to 110 degrees for long spells of time. Smiles
Yes Sir Percy, promote our beloved "beskuit" (rusks).
How interesting the love interest is much younger. Very prophetic. Had you met Philip then?
She is broody, meaning she is ready to hatch what may have layed especially if they where viable to have new babies etc. In my experience hens do not leave their nest for for eons etc
Oh this vlog made me sad that your peacock (hen) is ill! I hope she gets better! Also a quick question for Ruth, for someone who has a storyline, how do you suggest about getting it published? Any tips for writing if you can’t get to the chateau?

Bit late, but a hammock made out of stretchy fabric with leg holes in it, and set at a height to let the peacocks feet rest on the ground, may have helped improve circulation in its legs. Either that or just pluck it and roast it.
I hope the peacock gets better, animals can suffer from 🥵 just like people! You really care about your pets!
