My grandfather and I sang along to you three singing this song for hours on end. He had Parkinson's disease but every time the music swelled, he would sing out in the loudest and proudest voice. He passed away this year, (2020) and he went out not with sadness, but this song promising hope. I cannot thank you for the love and joy this song gave my grandfather and me. May your voices ring out for eternity.

Hi Luke, many thanks for your beautiful memory. My deepest condolences in the passing of your grandfather. That generation LOVED all those fantastic songs. I hope that our generation can save them for future generations too. Happy Christmas

I grew up in a church that featured this every Easter season. This was glorious!
The Holy City is Heaven!
It is now early on Easter morning of 2020. I will be attending church via my computer amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been listening to some beautiful music and my eyes fill with tears of joy and thanksgiving that this is the celebration of our resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. The Holy City has been a favorite of mine for many years and the Celtic Tenors brought this hymn to life. Our life on earth is short and times are hard and uncertain yet we have hope and faith that can only come from the Lord himself. To God be the glory!!!

Peace for Israel and Palestine.
This was my grandma’s favorite song. It was sang it at her funeral back in 2003, my HS senior year. I miss her so much to this day. She is singing in the new Jerusalem at the feet of Jesus. What a comfort.
I love them, love this hymn have done for 50 years I'm 63 the bass singer is brilliant he compliments the other two
Lord please bring all the orphans on earth and widows and lonely people and refugees and everyone to your New Jerusalem let them live in peace forever in your world
Matthew and gang...My dad passed at 95 almost five years ago. He was definitely of the vintage that loved these songs. I remember his singing this at the piano while my older sister played for him...the last time I heard it was likely 47 years ago. I didn’t understand it why he treasured this one, but I think I do now. I hadn’t heard it since then, and it took me a while to find it. This rendition with you three is unbelievable. LOVE IT! Wish I knew more of the history of this hymn. Awesome regardless!
The best rendition ever, I have played it many times, thank you 😊

a TIMELY SONG, FOR CHRISTMAS, AND FOR WORLD EVENTS NOW. EXQUISITE SINGING AND SOUNDS, MOVES THE SPIRIT.
One of the great songs! J.
Love this rendition, I come back to over and over again.
God bless our world , full of sufferings and seems nothing can be done to stop it .
I love it in all it's versions since I heard it for the first time about 55 years ago while a choir meeting here in our church in Hildesheim - but it is my absolute favorite with this guys ❣️❣️❣️
Peace and courage and God's protection and love to those in war zones.
Beautiful! Glory to God!
Peace and prosperity to Israel.
At last a worthwhile rendering. I searched years ago and found nothing up to the limited standard that my father sang with my accompaniament, but this is way beyond that.
Listening in 2022. Looooooooooooo this! Please Keep 'em coming guys. PEACE. LOVE. JOY. Merry Christmas to ALL. 💯👌😌 🎄 🤶 🌲 🧑🎄
The best three tenors i've ever heard!
Beautiful every word cedar and district 👏👏🙏
Please remember the temple was 15 stories high and Jerusalem beautiful, but WHEN OUR LORD JESUS WAS THERE HIS PRESENTS WAS WITH THE SKARLKANAH GLORY AND THATS THE BEAUTIFUL 😍 ❤ ♥ 💙

Our Lord needs no other glory, save His own. There is no such thing in the bible as, "the skarlkanah glory". I think what you meant to say was, "the shekinah glory" something which a lot of people incorporated into their church doctrine. However, there is no such thing in the bible - have a look. I had a brother whose church taught this & he actually became angry when I pointed out the fact that no such thing appears in the bible. He was angry until I asked him where he could show it to me in the bible. It wasn't there &, if it isn't in the bible, we need to be aware that we're not adding to God's word, which is forbidden in scripture.

@@CartePostale. I always thought that "shekinah" was the Latinised Hebrew word for glory. So I looked it up: Shechina Shekinah / (ʃɛˈkaɪnə, Hebrew ʃəxiːˈna) / noun the radiance in which God's immanent presence in the midst of his people, esp in the Temple, is visibly manifested the divine presence itself as contrasted with the divine transcendence
The last guy😭❤️
Beautiful.
I'm so glad to find this song again. I thought I had dreamed it. All I've been able to find for years is the "And did those feet in ancient times ........." song of the same name.

Yes, that was the hymn Jerusalem, written by William Blake. It is also the hymn that opened the film Chariots of Fire, which is one of the lines in the hymn.

biarlah berlalu Covid-19 dari bumi Indonesia dan di seluruh dunia karena kasih Kristus Yesus yang kekal...sampai jumpa di Yerusalem yang baru (new Jerusalem)
This is not "andante moderato," which is what the composer indicates as the tempo. Way too fast, and I have both sung this, as did my mother, and accompanied other singers.

Sounds too rushed and I have heard this song a thousand times by other singers.
E
Sorry, but this rendition misses the grandiosity of the hymn. I fully agree with Humnaset's comments. It is too fast, the piano accompaniment is light, quasi burlesque. In addition, they are out of in the highest notes. The choral arrangement is faulty, as far as counterpoint is concerned.
The introduction set a slow tempo and then the first tenor sped it up for no apparent reason. The performance settled down but then, again, the high note at the end was an "overkill" . Too hastily for this song.

Ok critic.
Very near is the return of Jesus Christ the only Savior And this is eternal life: that they may know the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3 So those who gladly received his word were baptized; and on that day nearly three thousand souls were added. Acts 2:41
One of my favorite song but this one is far from the best - Tempo is too fast, makes the song sounds too 'lightly' - Singing line is not too good, especially in the chorus part - The high note at the end takes away the sense of completion from this song

Watch the version David Hobson (Australia, Carols by candlelight)..........absolutely brilliant
The first singer put no emotion into his rendition, the whole song sounded very rushed. This is one of my favorite hymns, and I felt nothing but disappointment at how fast and unmovingly this beautiful song of praise was rendered. Disappointing performance.
